Quote: - It seems as if the villagers now want you to collect some eggs. Some untainted, un-miasma fused precious wyvern eggs from an exotic wyvern couple that sadly passed away. You must scale a very high mountain in order to get these eggs. - Your character is dropped off at the base of the mountain. The goal is to climb the mountain and get the egg. To scale the mountain, you must write a jaunty 250 word post of your character scaling the mountain. You can do this as you please, there are plenty of angry nesting minipets, boulders, and possibly giant serpents blocking your way. As you reach the top, obtain the egg, and you are ready to begin your descent. - Every single creature possible, especially rolling sand lobsters, will try to destroy your egg. Roll 1d4 four times and match your dice roll to the prompt below to reach the bottom of the mountain. Yes, repeats do happen if you roll a repeat. Your egg has 10 HP. If you make it down without the egg reaching 0 HP (breaking) you made it! 1) A sand lobster rolls right into your egg and nearly breaks it! -2 HP 2) Strange velociraptor minipets are hungrily staring at your egg. They try to attack it! -1 HP 3) A giant snake smacks you with its giant tail. Ouch! -3 HP 4) Nothing happens. You were lucky! - If you successfully get an egg to safety, you get herbivore egg. It is considered a quest item. Add it to your quest item list

Maple would have wished nothing more than to stay near the bus or something. But soon enough the crowd around began to thin and the thought of being left alone pushed her to enter the village like the others. Perhaps she could just find some quiet corner until things were sorted. Or find a library... (if they were supposed to figure out where they were, surely a library would be helpful. And she was excellent with reading).
A moment of zen was not in the cards however and like a few of the others before her, some of the inhabitants rounded upon the petite witch and asked of a favor. She tensed up as they circled her, making their request and in a daze of fright she could only find herself agreeing to the task. Something about eggs?
Soon enough, she found herself whisked towards the mountain side and dropped off at the base. Swift and brief instructions were given. And the first task? To climb the mountain. Great.

Asking a flavour? More like a quest to test his ability, huh? AJ could tell from their expressions, the unbelieving, disdainful and rejectful sentiment in their eyes which were not unfamiliar. Nevertheless, he was AJ, who loves challenges and adventures. Grabbing some eggs from a steep mountain sounded exciting enough, he beamed and accepted the task, asked for the details and grabbed what might be useful but they didn't need. Something to hold the egg, ropes to assist the climbing job and some more he felt necessary, the boil set off. The high mountain was visible when one looked up from the village, masked by a thin layer of fog. It took a while to get to the base, in the mid-way, he chatted with the head of what might be happened and the memory of he climbing a hill with a woman for stamina improvement. There he saw a face he surprised to see, "Maple, why are you here?" he asked. He checked his phone, there was no messages. "Why you didn't call me?" If he were the witch and get lost in an unknown place, he would immediately check his friends' condition. In contrast, the monster who was naturally a loner won't do such a thing by himself. "Anyway, have the villagers asked you to climb the hill and get some eggs as well? We can go together." AJ suggested with his normal gentle smile. chirigami Assuming AJ didn't pay attention to the signal reception, I am asking about it in Q&A, we can edit that part after I got the answer biggrin

Contrary to her usual sorts of reactions, Maple's face paled when she heard AJ call out to her. He was here too ... and was raising a very good question. Even though she clearly possessed a phone, had actually used it in the past, the thought to use it now to see if a friend had suffered the same bus flipping fate just hadn't occurred to her. (And she was supposed to be smart...) "I ... r-really d-don't... know..." That was probably a response to all his inquiries at this point.
Well, except for one. "Th-they did..." Well at least it didn't seem like it would be the worst thing in the world now that someone was going to go with her. The witch turned back towards the mountain, her hands twisting the straps to the pack they had given her. Still seemed terrible though.
"Sh-shall we...?" Might as well get it over with.

When she took such a long time before she replied, AJ knew she must be either blaming herself or thinking something else. Thus he diverted her from drilling on the said topic. As if he was being asked for a dance, he was amused. "Sure~" he replied in delight. His nails grew into claws, scales partially covered the forearm to harden and protect his skin. After examined the base, he found a steep slope which was better to climb. "Maple, follow behind me." He caught onto a protruding rock and pulled himself up, then landed his feet on a thin platform of stone. Though steep, the profile of the mountain were actually stair-like, so it allowed rest time before they climbed again. Climbing was an activity used up a lot of stamina as pushing your body up, stretching your arms and spring of your muscles, he was glad some breaks could be possible. Sometimes, he looked back to check if the witch was having difficulty at some points. As the pioneer, he tried his best to pick the easiest route and carved into the smooth rock surfaces as to make space for their hands to grab. Maple was a witch, unlike him who can dig his claws into the rock, she had to move by catching the protruding parts of the rocks. "Alright, Maple, let's take a short break here." He suggested when they reached a plain. "I've brought with me simple sandwiches, pick one." He put his bag in the middle between them and picked out some foods.

Maple was glad that AJ had taken the lead in their little journey up the mountain (haha, little). For certain, she would have taken the worst path possible with uneven footing and holes, things that could easily kill her in one strike or a path to nowhere and eventual death on the mountainside because of being lost.
The route he had chosen still wasn't exactly easy on her given her inability to grow any sort of appendages that would aid in the climb. Her poor nails suffered so with the first rock that she had to really dig into in order to climb, her feet dangled as she tried desperately to hoist herself up. She ended up completing that first one with a roll and splayed out against the surface of the rock. It was tempting to summon her broom in most places but she feared breaking it and wondered how much it would actually help her. If only she could get her magic under control, maybe that would help, but how much could a broom work as a walking stick?
... wait.
Suddenly she felt terribly dumb forgetting the one skill that she actually possessed, the first thing her aunt had taught her after that.... day. Gah, and she was supposed to be smart!
The witch held out her hands and summoned the wooden staff and gripped it once it appeared. She used it once as her initial thought, to help her back to her feet with a push from the tip of it. It might not have been able to get her there in one swoop, her power with it not that polished yet for extended flight. But she could at least use it as leverage, almost like a ladder as she climbed up the rocks. Put it into place, climbed up the broom, let it hover and went up the rocks. Piece of cake! For once!
(She was so happy! Her hands would not be sore and broken and bloody from climbing up rocks! QQ!)
Upon reaching the plain, Maple took her broom in hand and approach AJ with a surprised look. "You.. h-had s-sandwiches?" Since... like the beginning of the bus ride? She took a seat across from him, mindful of the food he placed out before them and her broom next to her. Delicately, she took what had been offered and took a small bite.
"S-so g-good." Could she expect anything less? He probably made them like everything else.

AJ had his eyes lit with impressiveness over the usage of the broom by Maple and then he laughed at himself for not remembering she could fly on her broom. While Head swallowed a few sandwiches, the boil slowly ate his and smiled at the compliment. "Thank you." They took a short break after the snack before they continued. One-third they already climbed, the remaining won't be too hard. At one point, he had a thought to switch to his natural form. Yet, the witch not excel in her broom flight skill won't be able to catch him up and he was afraid there might be dangers like feral assaulting. After all they were invading their territories, wild animals have a strong possession on their territories and they better be careful. They took another break when they reached two-third from the peak, it was important to restore energy in climbing a steep mountain like that. The break, however, was shorter than the first one. It didn't take long to reach their destination. Quote: 3) A giant snake smacks you with its giant tail. Ouch! -3 HP Securing his egg, he checked with Maple before they went down. As he expected, there were feral blocking their paths. One of them were a giant snake, it might be pissed off when they stepping into its boundary. It hissed and bounced its body at AJ. The boil swiftly evaded with a leap but the angry snake held its grudges. It swatted its tail at AJ's leg but the boil didn't fall. EGG: 7/10 1/4

She probably would have needed many more breaks if not for the aid of her broom, probably would have hated life just a bit more and had broken some bones along the way or something. It was also appreciated that AJ reconsidered his natural form use - though, maybe he could have given her a ride.... or something?
Either way, Maple grabbed her own egg and pondered for a moment of a possible place to store it on the trip down. Her bag wasn't big enough for such a thing, given she had only packed for an errand and not a school adventure. Her arms it would have to be with her broom remaining in hover mode just in case it was needed. Going back down would have its faults after all.
When she was just ready to go, and taking her first unsteady back down, AJ was attacked by the serpent. Maple let out a loud 'eep' and instantly clutched her egg tighter. Somehow she managed to avoid it, or it her, along with any of her own mishaps and attacks. She was safe for now.Quote: egg: 10/10 damage: roll: 1/4

Quote: 4) Nothing happens. You were lucky! AJ had used a net made of rope to hold the egg and then he hung the net onto him with the egg placed in his bosom. Wyvern egg was vulnerable to attacks as they were big, about half of a creepson's body in height and your arms can barely wrap around its radius. "Don't get off from your broom, Maple." said AJ who kicked the snake off the mountain. "I hope it can fly. Oops." He only realized that after he did it. "The more time we spent, the easier the egg will break, we'd better hurry up, Maple." He jumped down a slope as a short cut, grasping the egg firmly in his arm. A shorter path also meant less encounter with the wild creatures. EGG: 7/10 2/4

Maple didn't exactly have enough time to tell him she wasn't on her broom exactly, when the same snake that he had attempted to punt off the mountain finally located and attacked her. She let out a squeal when its tail struck her, the egg managing to take the brunt of the attack (still not a good thing).
Her eyes instantly closed, her feet moved on automatic and she just sort of hopped down to a lower level and hoped it wouldn't end with her tumbling down the rest of the mountainside.
It didn't. There was a little bit of tumbling but she didn't die or anything.Quote: egg: 7/10 damage: 3 roll: 2/4

Quote: 3) A giant snake smacks you with its giant tail. Ouch! -3 HP AJ who heard Maple's scream swiftly picked up the snake's tail with both of his arms and swung it out, "So many snakes here, be careful." Maybe he should really switch to his natural form, he pondered. He saw from below, the witch closed her eyes when she jumped. It was dangerous for her to do so so he stepped forward and caught the falling witch within his arms. "You don't need to jump with me as well." He softly said while letting the ghoul's shoes touching the ground. He snapped his head towards the side abruptly and gently shoved the witch aside. It was another snake who flew like a circle and lunged towards him. "Jeez. Even though my blood is partially serpent blood, this kind of welcoming is going too far......" He hit it like a baseball and it flew off the direction it came. "Almost there." He checked on the egg with tiny cracks on, he wasn't a good material for bodyguard, he shrugged. EGG: 4/10 3/4

Well, so she expected to tumble into the ground after her stupid decision to jump without looking and when she felt a weird sensation of not totally following she let out another distressed 'eep' sound. Her eyes opened quickly to find his face so near her's and his arms around her waist. Of course her cheeks flushed instantly. Somehow she managed to stammer out a thank you as she was set back to the ground.
"Th-they .. m-must.. really l-like you..." Was somehow the first thing she managed to say once she recollected herself. There were a lot of snakes, it was hard not to realize that and Maple hoped not to encounter any more when she moved forward again. She took a few careful steps between a few rocks and a little bit of uneven ground, her arm remained on her broom for leverage during the ordeal.
But she could see the base of the mountain not so far ahead of them. They were almost done. But not with encounters. Something struck her like before, not as hard but still more of the egg and Maple tried not to stumble from the force of it. Her head went to the side, locating what it had been and found a sand lobster.
.... a sand... lobster...

Quote: 2) Strange velociraptor minipets are hungrily staring at your egg. They try to attack it! -1 HP He noticed her face red as apple but he was too dense to realize the reason, the first woman he approached besides his mother was that free spirited and passionate, like a flame. Therefore, he was oblivious of the intimacy that would make a shy ghoul blush. He just did what he think is the right thing to do, it might reveal a bit of another side of him, that he wasn't born as a gentleman as all. Amused by the witch, AJ flashed a bright smile when he turned to her. "Isn't it? I guess I'm too charming, finally my popular time comes~" He chuckled happily at his light joke but halted when the sand lobster made an audible sound against her egg. "Is it alright?" Suddenly the ground shook and noises seemed like footsteps of an army got louder towards their direction. AJ adopted a fighting stance out of instincts for whatever coming. "Maple, please hold my egg for a while," requested by the boil who lunged towards a group of something and began to punch and kick. It was a gang of velociraptors drooling, eyes fixed on their eggs while growling at AJ who attacked them. It was't a long fight as the sneaky minipets knew they had zero chance to steal the eggs from the fierce guy. They fled as one of them fell and flipped over onto the ground. "Follow me, Maple." He left the words and chased after the velociraptors as if he was a predator. They split up for bigger chance to escape from the scary boil. He jumped up and let himself land on top of one of them with the help of the down going slope. The minipet struggled below him and cried. Only after it was exhausted, he let it go by release the pin-down. It ran for its life. Turning around, he saw Maple who holding two eggs and beamed at her, "Mission accomplished, good job, Maple." He dusted himself and high-five with the ghoul, the eggs fell were caught by the coiled up tail head which nuzzled up to them affectionately. EGG: 3/10 4/4 [ Quest Item Herbivore Egg Obtained~! ]

A small smile surfaced on her lips from his little quip back, he didn't seem to find what she said the least bit lame. It was nice. "It's.. a-alright... h-hopefully we c-can get them.. b-both down.. alright.. is yours?" She asked him, he had attacked as much as she had and by so many similar creatures.
She was unsure if he heard her, though, when the ground shook and the reptilian, bird like creatures appeared. They startled her, sure, and somewhat fascinated the young witch oddly enough. But this was not the time to admire creatures since they also seemed to be on the attack and AJ was handing her his egg. Maple struggled with them, even with the little net that he had created for his. They were large and cumbersome afterall. "I.. I'm n-not sure.. this is a g-good idea..." She muttered, trying to follow after him like he wished her too.
His plan didn't go without fail either, sadly, as one of the smaller packs had decided - in lieu of fleeing from the monster - to attack her instead. She was wide open and a little vulnerable after all. "Aa!" She tried to kick. And pushed her broom as much as she could in its hovering state at them. Did it work? She couldn't tell?
They were at least finally at the bottom though.
Her return high five was very stiff and awkward. "Uuuh...." Maple attempted a smile, it too was a little awkward. But, at least they were done and hadn't completely broken the eggs.Quote: egg: 4/10 damage: 1 roll: 4/4

Boil was boil, in which they didn't think carefully and circumspective enough like ghouls do. As for AJ, he was only attentive on two things: battle and baking. Thus poor Maple who followed after AJ, he didn't pay attention or temporarily forget her existence nor the eggs. When he noticed the scratch marks left on the eggs, he hissed, "Those sneaky little things, they attacked you behind me?" He put his hands on her shoulder and gently checked around her. "Are you hurt? Sorry I get distracted." He sounded like rarely embarrassed and might be blushing. "Forgive me, okay?" Without waiting for the ghoul's answer, he picked up Maple's hand and interlaced with his. Their eggs - one coiled up by the tail head and another one held by AJ as they trotted back to the village. "Let's see if they will tell us anything." chirigami Wanna continue to next egg quest?
