As it turned out, after wandering down a few more streets the pair would find that the town wasn't as deserted as it appeared to be on the outset. In search of something to eat, they passed by a humble restaurant … only to be told that the village was lacking for some food.
The quizzical looks quickly turned into those of slight worry as the pair were handed a portable spit each, before they were instructed to hunt for their own food in the outskirts of the village.
… It was not that big of an issue, they supposed, catching and cooking a turkey was not beyond their capabilities. It was just something they weren't used to, being pampered members of society.
Ivar had fully intended to do everything by himself, and the ghoul decided it was much easier not to protest and simply finish the job by herself on the sly. The frost demon watched in anticipation as the man discarded his coat and rolled up his sleeves before crouching down to wait for the opportunity to strike. It was an unfamiliar scene indeed, and in her opinion, quite amusing.
Edel held her breath as Ivar lunged at a turkey that ambled by. There was a resounding SQUAWK and the turkey dashed off angrily, leaving the man with nothing but a bunch of feathers in his hand, along with a few scratches up his arm.
She wasn't really sure of what to say in encouragement, but during this time he would turn around and sigh.
“This might take a while...” he admitted gravely.

“There's no rush,” she reassured him, as the man reassumed his crouching position. Word seemed to have spread amongst the fowl, seeing as to how the lot of them have begun to squawk and gobble agitatedly. She began to worry a bit for Ivar, who might meet with the unfortunate circumstance of being mobbed by them.
But – a dagger of ice flew through the air and swiftly took out a turkey that was creeping up on him from behind. She was here to watch his back.
Picking up the limp body of the slain turkey, the ghoul wondered what to do with her game in the meantime.
...Was she supposed to cook this by herself? she pondered nervously, having little cooking experience at all. She should really take up Xiu's offer for cooking classes in the future.

Coming up with another fist full of feathers and more scratches, Ivar turned around to find that Edel had already begun to pluck the feathers off the body of a dead turkey. Suffice to say he was rather shocked, but also impressed. Perhaps hunting wild game was part of Amityville's prestigious education, or just something the lady was trained in. After spending a year with her, he learned that he could never be too surprised at the things she could pull off unexpectedly.
...Though it was clear that she had no experience with cooking at all, it seems. He chuckled softly as he watched the ghoul plucking off the feathers gingerly, occasionally jerking nervously when she thought that the turkey was still somehow alive.
Feeling inexplicably competitive, the man turned around to face the angry mob of turkeys. He couldn't lose to her now could he?

“Are you alright there?” she called with a triumphant tone from the sidelines, holding up the unfeathered turkey by its feet, feeling rather proud of herself. Whether or not it was to rub her small victory in, or simply just because she didn't know what to do with it next, her actions stoked the flame of competition in Ivar.
“You'd need to gut it and cook it too, you know?” he called back, to which the ghoul responded with a dejected eh....
She fiddled with her knife for a minute, observing the turkey at different angles to decide where to make the cut. But in the end, she simply gave up and looked at the dark elf expectantly.
“...Just... refrigerate it for now...” he answered with a sigh.

And thus resumed Ivar's terrible time at chasing the turkeys about, and the man could swear that the demonic creatures were surely mocking him for his incompetence at catching them. By now they haven't even bothered to give him a berth, and instead strutted about with leisure.

“Do you need some help?” she called from the sidelines, trying very hard not to laugh as she watched the man getting outwitted once again. Already, she could see that he had become quite flustered, not to mention annoyed now that the turkey had left some unsightly scratches on his leather shoes.
The man straightened up and bent backwards to stretch his back. “Enjoying the view?” he joked, immediately regretting it afterwards as he turned around to hide the blush that was creeping up on his face. Ivar fanned himself, passing it off as him trying to cool down.

“Hm, well, I like seeing this other side of you.”
The innocuous comment somehow set his heart aflutter, and in the spur of a moment he managed to land a heavy kick on the turkey nearby.
“You're supposed to catch it, not abuse it!” she laughed, to which he simply smiled and shrugged.

Chancing upon the fact that he turkey was still stumbling about in a daze from that concussive blow, the man lunged forward to grab it by it's tail. It only ended like it always did – another fist full of feathers and more scratches.
As much as he didn't want to admit it, he was starting to get a bit worn down from all the jostling about.

A slightly worried look began to cross the face of the frost demon as she watched Ivar emerge empty handed from another wild scuffle with a group of turkeys. His hair had come undone and his forearms were now covered in scratches, some bleeding lightly.
Something prevented her from stepping in for now, hoping that he would be able to resolve it quickly.

Her worries were soon allayed as the man finally landed a decisive kick, knocking the turkey out. Swooping down to grab it by its feet, he heaved a heavy sigh of relief.
“Finally...” she clapped modestly, unsure of how much more of an ego bruising the man could take.
“My apologies for keeping you waiting,” he joked back, brushing off the situation with a light-hearted smile.
“Here you go,” she said, offering a small knife of ice for him to slit the turkey's throat. Ivar looked at the knife curiously, wondering if that was what she had used to do in her turkey so quickly and also noting how versatile her ability must be...

They found themselves a seat on a log while they waited for the turkey to bleed out, taking a rest from what was a strenuous activity for at least one of them. Small ice packs were rested on the irritated cuts on his arms as the ghoul treated the rest of his small wounds in silence.
“A-Are you alright?” she finally asked, losing all the cheeky banter from before. The man simply nodded quietly, reassuring her with a sheepish smile.
“Shall we head back?” he suggested, getting up from his seat and offering a hand to her. The ghoul eyed him suspiciously, trying to discern if he was hiding the severity of his injury. “Setting up a wild campfire is beyond me at the moment,” he admitted, picking up the two turkeys as he readied to head back, “It'll be better to borrow one of the villagers' stoves, I guess.”
“Alright,” she said simply, getting up before landing two awkward pats on his arm. “Good work today,” she whispered.
