Quote:
Your character has been invited by a villager to harvest on top of the remote glacier infringing on the northern outskirts of the village. What an honour!

- The walk is very steep and treacherous. You are allowed to harvest as much as you'd like until you slip and fall down the glacier all the way back to town (must remake thread). This quest is only considered completed if you get the rare machalite ore.

Roll 1d6 and continue rolling until you slip and fall back to town OR get the machalite ore. Really, whatever comes first. Make sure to rp it out.

1. You spot some beautiful crystal fragments. You manage to get the machalite ore!
2. You get distracted by a pile of bones and gather some bone fragments that are ultimately useless because you're not a gunner
3. You get distracted by some honey. It is delicious.
4. You get distracted by a pile of herbs. You pick some herbs and ask the villager what they are. He says "herbs". They are barely edible.
5. You accidentally slip and fall back to town! Oh no! (Quest fail!)
6. You find a great spot to fish but you didn't bring your fishing rod.

The only disadvantage of sticking around the site of the bus crash was that the area probably had the largest cloaked-figure-to-square-foot ratio of anywhere he had been so far, and the villagers here were nothing if not insistent. About five minutes after he had returned from that dreadful volcano, Bren was recruited for a trip to a glacier. He was fairly certain this was how people contracted pneumonia, but he shuffled along anyway, not really sure he had a choice anymore. At least it proved to be interesting, almost immediately in fact.

Even before he had made it to the glacier's steep side Brenley was pausing to examine the odd foliage. All the plants were coated din a faint sheen of ice which made them hard to identify, if he even could. When he asked his cloaked guide if they knew the plants' species, he was handed a plastic sheet entitled "The Flora and Fauna of Miasma Village." No, he supposed he wouldn't have been able to identify them, ice or not.

He glanced at the cloaked figure again once he had picked a few of the plants, and when he noticed no discernible reaction to this affront he started picking in earnest, carefully pressing his treasures between the pages of one of his travel notebooks. 'One to eat and one to keep' had become a motto of sorts, though he didn't consume his finds as much anymore, having learned his lesson the hard way. It would have to be enough to inject them with magic and see what they did.

All the way up the glacier's side he collected specimens, one to eat and one to keep. It was a comfort in this gloomy place, which only got gloomier once he had reached the formation's peak. The piles of bones didn't help, though they were probably just as intriguing as the plants. He rummaged through one of them to assuage his curiosity, pocketing a tiny skull with three sockets for eyes.

He was turned free after that, told to find something called machalite ore, as if he had any idea what that was. Bren surely wanted to learn more about the stuff now, but he knew all too well that wanting something to happen did not make it spontaneously occur, no matter how much one wished it would. Instead of looking for ore specifically, the boil got back to collecting plants, picking up several new ones in addition to a few extra of the more interesting specimens he already had, ones that made his fingers numb or smelled of chocolate.

Eventually, however, even his stalling paid off. Brenley stumbled upon a cavern that glittered in the mist, pale blues, purples, and greys that were barely noticeable unless you were very close. Against his better judgment, the reaper headed inside, running his hand against the walls in the hope that something might give. He would love a crystal from this place, if only to look at when he needed inspiration. Of course, all of this hinged on them leaving this place someday. If he never got back to his room, maybe this could be his new one. He'd just need to keep himself swimming in heating charms.

Bren chuckled at his not-so-funny thoughts, moving farther into the cave despite his misgivings. Any one of these gems could technically be machalite ore, though from the way the villagers spoke of it, he could only assume it would be better than that, something more like...

That.

A handful of dark crystals lay piled on the ground ahead, consuming the meager light that fell on them. Brenley was certain they were what he was looking for. He made sure to pocket a few before bringing the rest to the villagers outside.
