The place sucked and TG hated ever part of it. There were no other buses to take him places, he wanted to go home, and his legs were tired.

He wished Anna was here.

Shaking his head from that thought, he walked over to the girl who talked to him before and reached up to touch her leg. "Hey Birchwood! Where are we? Are there carriages here? I can't walk this entire place."

He checked his phone and sighed. No reception. This place blowed.

"My name is not Birchwood," she said, moving slightly away from his hand - it was extraordinarily warm. Normally, she gravitated towards warmth like a moth towards a flame, but she had been reading that it was not always wise to treat strange boils as solely a source of warmth. "And I highly doubt there are carriages, otherwise surely the driver would have procured one. Why - do you know how to drive one?" She asked with interested, head tilting. The idea of the small imp being in control of a team of horses or whatever equivalent was highly amusing. Hollandaise was used to meeting all manner of creeple taller than her, not one so significantly shorter.

She blinked, breaking herself free from the mental image of a scaled-down carriage. "As for your other questions, I do not know. Perhaps we can ask the villagers?" The hovered at the edges of the fog, cloaked, uninviting. It did not seem like a good idea, but it was the only one she had.

"Why can't you walk," she blurted out abruptly.

Your character(s) must interview two villagers. Villagers are all cloaked for some reason. Villagers may get disinterested when you ask too many questions, your goal is to acquire as much IC information as possible. Maybe they hold the key in your leaving.

Roll 1d10 and match your dice roll to the result below. That is the response they give you to your question. Your character can ask any question they formulate with the response always being the result below. If you roll the same number, you get the same response.

1. The villager glowers at you but does not reply to your question
2. The villager seems busy chopping firewood and is fastidiously ignoring you
3. The villager turns to look at you. They wave... at someone past you.
4. The villager is fishing. They reel in an invisible fish.. or is it just nothing.
5. The villager responds with a hearty grunt.
6. The villager looks you straight in the eye. "No."
7. The villager seems glum beyond their cloak. They mutter a few words involving the terms 'despair' and 'death'.
8. The villager is too busy looking at their toes.
9. The villager is cooking roast ghost fish, it smells delicious. They take out a skewer, offer you it, and then eat it before you can accept.
10. The villager seems passed out. Maybe you should leave them alone...

He grumbled at her before looking up and lifting up one leg. "Do I look like I can run a marathon all day? I didn't take a damn bus because I wanted too. It would take me a day to get into town." He huffed, upset she would even make him say it. He was short. His legs were short. Walking was HARD!

He looked about and started to walk over to a cloaked figure walking by. "HEY! Where the heck are we? Is there a carriage service som-"

The person didn't respond and didn't look down, instead walking by. He could hear him muttering to himself, lost in thought, talking about misery and despair.

They kept walking leaving TG to yell at them. "HEY! Get back here!" It was hard to get someone's attention when you were barely off the ground.

Grumbling, he walked over to Holly. "These people are rude and disrespectful. Here. Let me on your shoulder. They can't hear me." Or maybe didn't see him.

Hollandaise visibly recoiled at TG's suggestion, hands flying up to her leaves. "My shoulders," she said frostily, "-are not for sitting upon. Do you want to hurt me? Maybe you should purchase a skateboard." And with one last, quelling look at TG, she walked over to a villager. Perhaps she would have better luck.

"Hello, as you may have noticed, our bus stranded us here. Would you be so kind as to tell us more about your town? And, perhaps, directions back to Amityville?" And then she waited, hopefully.

Hollandaise glanced over her shoulder, and then back at the villager. They continued to wave, but not at her. In fact, the cloaked figure acted like she wasn't there! "I, ah, I can see you are quite busy right now. I apologize for any disturbance." And then, because she didn't have anything better to do, she walked back to TG.

"They are not very forthcoming, are they?"

"A skateboard doesn't make me taller. I need to be at ear level. Ugh!" He said, frustrated that she wasn't getting it.

Despite her own vertical advantage, she was just as easily dismissed as he was, and he grinned, overly pleased she failed as much as he had. "Well, I guess they don't like you either."

Noticing someone else passing, TG sped up as best he could and then placed both claws around his mouth to shout. "HEY RAGS! DOWN HERE!"

The figure, sounding like a woman, continued to walk, the bottom of their garbs swishing against the path as they muttered to themself.

Little puffs of smoke started to pour out of the imp's elf-like ears. He moved back to Holly. "Well, everyone is deaf here. Maybe I should set their clothes on fire."

Then he looked back up at her. "So, about that ride. You look strong enough. I mean, you're built like a Oak."

"A skateboard would help with your leg issues," she pointed out helpfully. The very idea that he could not get around under his power was horrifying to her - Hollandaise lived for summer nights spent running through forests, darting from shadow to shadows and lightning bugs zipped and zapped all around her. She wondered if TG ran. Deciding that, in the end, it did not exactly matter, she returned to the mission at hand. Answers were important. She wasn't miffed at her own previous failure, at least not yet; creeple here were simply wary, surely. perhaps a little too quick to turn up their hoods. But at TG's humorous ire (he, no doubt, did not find it amusing, but Hollandaise did), her eyebrows rose. "Yes, because setting their clothing on fire shall surely endear you to them." She was about to suggest a softer, more gentle approach... Then TG came out with a truly horrible suggestion again.

"NO," she said forcefully, resisting the urge to screech it out. "I am not to be ridden in any way, shape, or form. I am delicate - you would crush my leaves! If you want to ride someone I suggest you find a bridle and someone unsuspecting. Or turn some of your considerable charm onto the villagers." With that, she hmped and walked towards a villager before he could try to clamber on her. Hollandaise's hands stroked her leaves, a small, reassuring gesture. A small stream ran through the town and he looked as though he were fishing. Harmless, right? But, just as she opened her mouth -

She looked curiously at the villager. "What did you catch?" No answer. "May I try?" No answer. Hollandaise blinked. Was everyone here deaf or mute? She kicked a rock rather spitefully into the stream. It splashed and something darted away, its movement as invisible as sunlight. "I am sure there is something far, far more worthwhile my time." she said to TG. And there was, and she would go find it, leaving TG to cool his heels.

TG did not bother with another villager. He was already bored and deemed them not worth his time. So, instead, he watched the ghoul go and get completely ignored. He wondered how flammable those leaves were. Delite his rump. She looked built to hold him up. She was completely selfish to not let him use her.

Arms crossed, he looked at the ghoul and huffed with her. "The are all disrespectful. I bet the water is all hopped up on something. This place looks like trash so it wouldn't be a surprise."

Yet, as she moved to leave, he jerked, surprised at her departure. "HEY! Wait up!" And despite his earlier statements, he did try to keep up.
