Quote: - It seems as if the villagers now want you to collect some eggs. Some untainted, un-miasma fused precious wyvern eggs from an exotic wyvern couple that sadly passed away. You must scale a very high mountain in order to get these eggs. - Your character is dropped off at the base of the mountain. The goal is to climb the mountain and get the egg. To scale the mountain, you must write a jaunty 250 word post of your character scaling the mountain. You can do this as you please, there are plenty of angry nesting minipets, boulders, and possibly giant serpents blocking your way. As you reach the top, obtain the egg, and you are ready to begin your descent. - Every single creature possible, especially rolling sand lobsters, will try to destroy your egg. Roll 1d4 four times and match your dice roll to the prompt below to reach the bottom of the mountain. Yes, repeats do happen if you roll a repeat. Your egg has 10 HP. If you make it down without the egg reaching 0 HP (breaking) you made it! 1) A sand lobster rolls right into your egg and nearly breaks it! -2 HP 2) Strange velociraptor minipets are hungrily staring at your egg. They try to attack it! -1 HP 3) A giant snake smacks you with its giant tail. Ouch! -3 HP 4) Nothing happens. You were lucky! gaia_star If you successfully get an egg to safety, you get herbivore egg. It is considered a quest item. Add it to your quest item list

Hollandaise looked up at the mountain suspiciously and dug her toes into the rocky soil. It didn't feel nice, not like rich forest loam, full of decomposing leaves and sunlight. She ran her fingers along the cuffed hem of her shorts, perfect for summer (although in winter she would still wear them - the seasons had little to do with the stubborn way she wore her favourite clothes), and hoped it wasn't too cold on the slope. That the villager wanted eggs was strange, she mused, but she hadn't anything better to do, not really. And the wyvern parents had passed, somehow, so the eggs should be brought down and made useful. Leaving them to molder in some unattended nest made no sense. A wagon pulled up behind her and she barely paid it any attention, instead setting her feet firmly forward. What had the villager called this - "Eggstraction," she said aloud, wondering if she was supposed to laugh at the obvious pun. Suddenly she realized someone was.... was breathing behind her. Eyebrows raised, she turned. "Hello," she said amiably. "-climbing, too?"

Abbie blinked. The other student... The other student was talking to it~With a nervous and excited sempai noticed me feeling welling in it's chest, the cave wyvern smiled earnestly. When it spoke it's voice was neither quite male or female. "Yes, I think I am! Is this like a-" It let out a loud snuffle, as though suffering from some breathing congestion before continuing, "A back way to the school?" It climbed forward, not too much, it could still be considered as 'respectfully following' even though the distance between them had been shortened enough to allow conversation. Abbie did not even look at it's hands or feet as it walked, the blood-red pads seemed to find secure grip without any effort at all.

"You either climb or you do not, regardless of thinking. Ah-" Hollandaise had noticed the sniffle. "Are you alright, ah,... I'm Hollandaise. What is your name and are you well?" A worried tone colored her voice. She had paused and turned to look at the other studen, unfortunately missing most of the toothy smilet. For some reason, she always felt concern over another's well-being, even when she knew she could not help that creepson. The elders would have told her that her concern was unnecessary and overbearing. But she was coming to realize that she did not have to agree with the elders on everything, after all. She still tried.
She shook her head at the question about the school. "No, the villagers want us to get some eggs for them. On the mountain. You're a student?" Hollandaise tucked a lock of hair behind one ear and climbed further, wooden feet slipping slightly on the terrain. She was not made for this, but she was, as always, determined. "At Amity?" She hummed creakily for a moment. The pale student seemed nice enough and Hollandaise was rather glad it was such a creepson that climbed with her instead of others.

Abbie's pale eyes widened in admiration. This older student was concerned for it's wellbeing! The world beyond it's dark caves and sheltered lifestyle was certainly full of wonders.
"Yes, I wasn't harmed," it said brightly, referring to the bus and it's... unconventional stop. In between finding a new handhold it sniffed again and wiped it's nose with the back of a hand. Even though it sounded ill, the wyvern seemed untroubled. It even brightened further when asked about it's brand new student status.
"Today is my first official day!" It said eagerly, letting go of the cliff with it's hands to show the skull pin on it's shirt. It suffered no loss of balance, it's feet seemed adequate for the job, and the long, paddle-shaped tail flattened it's red underside on the rocks as well.

She did not look back at Abiteth, concentrating too much on the way rocks shifted under her feet. "Really? This is a terrible first day." It was - the bus had gone out of control, they were stranded, not even near the school. Awful. "I went to a carnival first, and met a dragon and had my fortune told. It seems a very long time ago, but I am only in my second year." She paused, suddenly aware she was dangerously close to rambling. Hollandaise fidgeted briefly with the leaves on her shoulders, almost losing her balance. Glancing back quickly, she saw the pin.
"You know, you did not tell me your name - common courtesy, I think." There was no heat or ire in her voice. Perhaps it was just that hanging out with Professor Winter's shadowy butler was rubbing some etiquette off on her.

"It's not so bad, I've never been on a bus before! It's kind of nice until it falls over like that," Abbie replied cheerily. "But your first day sounds like a lot of fun! And second year, wow. I heard there are exams and stuff that are really hard, where they hang you from the ceiling by your toes and-" Another sniffle. "- make you recite all the words you've learned all year!"
The wyvern had paused as it talked, and now scrambled easily up the slope to catch up. "Oh, I'm so sorry, I don't meet new people-" Sniff. "- often. I'm Abbie, nice to meet you!"

"They do not normally fall over like that, Abbie, thankfully. Our driver was not exactly in control." She made a creaking noise that could have been a snort of derision. "Second year is the same as the first, I think. I only want to graduate and go home. The exam wasn't so hard - I ended up covered in chocolate, oddly enough." Hollandaise laughed, clearly harboring no ill feeling towards that strange vat of chocolate, although she still had no idea how it constituted an exam. She paused and shielded her eyes with one hand. "I can see the nest. The villagers want us to take an egg to them. Will you help? You seem to be... really quite good at climbing..."

"Oh... That makes a lot of sense though, everyone else looked a little worse for wear." Abbie had hung on with the same talent it was now demonstrating on the rocks, and had not suffered a single bump or bruise. "I had chocolate once! I don't remember much of it though, I was pretty young at the time. Where I come from we don't get many extravagances- Oh look, we're practically at the top!" The tundra wyvern practically beamed at the praise, a toothy smile made somewhat less attractive by the long, stuffed up sniff that followed. "Thank you! I'll definitely help if I can! I might only be a first year, but I do lots of climbing back at home, so this isn't much different from walking on flat ground really. I didn't know what it would be like in a school body, I thought I would end up sliding all over the place with weird feet or something! But they still work the same, thank goodness!" Abbie wiggled it's fingers in demonstration, the red palm and finger pads appearing oddly striped. But it didn't explain any further, instead it reached the nested ledge with ease and circled it, looking at the eggs inside with some wonderment. "What do you think is in there? It's warm..."

She looked strangely at Abbie, eyes fixed not on theirs, but below. "You have such... nice teeth." Abruptly, she shook her head, forcing herself to look away. She sighed noisily. Maybe one day she would ask - right now there was a task to be done.. "You're very helpful so far," she reassured. Tentatively, she reached out to touch an egg - so warm, Abbie was right. Wrapping her arms around it, she lifted, carefully bracing herself. "They are wyvern eggs, according to the villagers. Will you carry one back?" She turned and took the few few steps down the mountain. Quote: 4) Nothing happens. You were lucky! EGG HP: 10

"Oh, oh thank you very much!" Abbie replied hastily. It had nice teeth... and it was helping? It was more praise than the wyvern could have ever hoped for. "Wyvern eggs! You think there are little wyvern pumpkins in there? Of course I'll help, they won't stay warm very long up here, the ones on the outside are already colder!" How it knew these things without having touched the eggs was a mystery Abbie did not elaborate on. It grabbed an egg too, gently holding it in both palms with fingers splayed across it's surface, and then tucked it against it's chest. "We will get you safely down to the bottom," it muttered gently, and then began scaling back down the cliff using only it's feet and flat, paddle-like tail. Quote: 4) Nothing happens. You were lucky! Okay, maybe Hollandaise was a little jealous of how easily Abbie both scaled and descended the mountain. There was nothing in particular that Hollandaise could say she good at, after all, and it would be nice to have her 'thing'. Carefully, she took some more steps. Then with more confidence, she lengthened her stride a bit. "I do not think they are wyverns like the kind that come from pumpkins, but more of the kind that come from eggs - or maybe their egg is a modified pumpkin. It is entirely unclear. Have you encountered wyverns before?"Suddenly, a rather large...lobster rolled out from behind a rock, knocking into Hollandaise. With a creak, she stumbled, curling her body around the egg as she fell. She waited a few moments, then straightened, checking the egg carefully for cracks. Whew. "I am a wyvern!" Abbie chirped brightly. It let go of the egg with one hand and waved one arm in the air. "I have wings right here, just not in this student form, and I can sorta fly. One day I'll be better at it... You're not a wyvern though, are you? Everything seems to be wyverns where I come from, but everyone looks so different around here-" The young monster was cut off as scales slammed into it's side, dislodging it from the side of the cliff. It tumbled head over heels once down the steep incline, egg tucked tightly against it's chest, and caught itself from further tumbles with the flat of it's thick tail. "I'm okay! Egg is okay!" Abbie yelped quickly, practically dangling upside down by it's tail. Quote: 3) A giant snake smacks you with its giant tail. Ouch! -3 HP Egg HP: 7

Hollandaise hurried down the slope after the tumbling Abbie, worry creasing her face. She breathed out a sigh at the sight of the young student dangling near-upside down. "You'e a wyvern? You're certainly acrobatic. Someday, I'd like to see your fly, if that is amenable." Hollandaise poked gently at Abbie's arm. "Need help getting down?"A swarm of tiny bird-like minpets rushed out of a bush, chirping angrily at the egg. It was quite clear they wanted to eat it. Hollandaise bared her teeth at them and kicked out. "Abbie," she said, aiming a kicked rock at a particularly tenacious one. "-when we get back to the school, come find me and I will make you something with chocolate in it." Quote: 2) Strange velociraptor minipets are hungrily staring at your egg. Abbie shook it's head, and sniffed loudly. Upside down seemed to agree with it about as much as being right side up, aside from having to rub at it's nose once more. "Nah, I'm okay!" It arched it's back, twisting flexibly until it could once again get a foot back on the face of the cliff, then the other, shifted it's tail, and then it was upright again like nothing had happened. "I'm not very good at flying though," It admitted, continuing on casually. "My wing isn't really strong, it's got a couple tears in it. I got bit when I was younger and it never quite healed right. But I'll get stronger!" It leaned over towards Holly and tried to help wave away the birds with one arm. It really, really wanted to be helpful, maybe this was it's first friend and it wanted to make a good impression! "I'd really like some- " Sniiiiiiffff. "- chocolate later, thank you!"
