User Image Dahlia was an.. odd Guardian to say the least. When she wanted to do it she could be great at her job, one of the best really. Diligent, unyielding, willing to lead or follow given the circumstances, tough but willing to reward good work, and lacking in morals in a way that made her perfect for some of the darker Negaverse tasks that some others might not be able to stomach. She also felt just as attached to the agents as she was her senshi, well except for maybe a few of the strange youma half breeds.

But like a cat she was fickle and everything depended on whether or not she actually wanted to do something. Or whether the gains were worth the effort. She was, undeniably a self absorbed creature. And she often came equipped with ulterior motives. Today those motives included air conditioning.

It had been ages since she'd seen Zinkenite, the General King she felt the most fondness for. And thought the days of Vertias were long gone the base of the intelligence branch was still there, and Dahlia sometimes found herself picking through files out of boredom and curiousity. Especially those recruited by Zinkenite. Call her sentimental.

Why the particular address had stuck with her she wasn't sure, and as she climbed and leapt from balcony to ledge in a strange form of feline parkour she tried to recall other details of the agent that supposedly resided there. Aurostibite.

When she reached the window that she figured belonged to the correct address, she paused, pacing back and forth for another moment in thought. If she was wrong, or if the information was out of date she could always just play this off cool. Perhaps still end up with a treat or some glorious air conditioning. Yes... this would work.

Planting herself squarely in front of the window, fluffy tail wrapping around her dainty body, she let loose some of the most horrific and loud kitty yowls she could muster.

Had to do some ninja work, but I'm assuming he's still at the apartment/flat. If not just tell me and I'll edit!

In spite of having moved in with Durumi, Magiore had not entirely vacated his flat, nor had he given it to someone else. He spent most of his time in the manor, but the loft had been kept in order to hold onto the appearances that he still lived there, for Durumi's sake. Not only that, but he now considered the loft his workroom, and it was where he went to continue brazing, moving from the workshop he'd rented in the city to simply conserving everything to one space.

At present, she was not at home, and neither was he - at least, not the manor home. Magiore himself was at the loft, reading a book on his black leather couch with a kettle of hot water on the stove to make tea. He'd spent the majority of the morning working, and now he was taking a break to eat lunch and relax, legs stretched out in front of him so that his feet were resting on the glass-topped coffee table.

He turned a page in his book, began reading again, and promptly dropped said book when he heard the yowl, Magiore jumping. He glanced around in bemusement, trying to figure out what the hell was going on, and saw, sitting on his balcony, a cat.

He did not own a cat. Cats were not even allowed in his building, and Magiore's eyes narrowed at it as he got up, padding over to the glass doors, and he was not looking closely enough at it, otherwise he might have noticed what was on its forehead.

"Shoo," he said, wedging it open just enough to wave a hand at it. "Get out of here, you're not mine."

The moment he noticed her was the moment she stopped making 'the noise', not intent on bringing anymore attention to the situation then had been necessary to gain his attention. And as he cracked the door enough to try and shoo her away she was quick to her feet, cat like reflexes one could say, coming right up to the crack in the door as her paw reached swatting harmlessly at the door.

Her voice was quiet, barely over a whisper on the off chance that someone else had heard her racquet and was looking out their own windows and balconies. But it was a voice nonetheless, paired with a set of dual colored eyes that stared at him with an intelligence and attitude behind them that was clearly more than the average cat.

"You're right. I am not yours. But if you play your cards right you might become one of mine." She teased, her tail flicked feverantly back and forth. She liked the idea of having another 'pet'. What with some of her favorites abandoning her.

He almost shut the door on her. Almost. But the paw that pressed against the glass, followed by the soft voice that emanated outwards from the cat, made him stop, Magiore's eyes narrowing. He should have been surprised, but he'd at least been made known of the existence of the cats - even if he'd never seen one before today.

"Ah," he said, his hands sliding down from the door. "You're one of them."

A frown on his face, Magiore tugged the door a little wider, allowing her to come in - because the voice had been distinctly female, however soft it was - and took a step back, one hand on his hip as he surveyed her. She was, of course, unfamiliar, but rather pretty as far as cats went.

(He had no knowledge of what constituted a pretty cat, exactly.)

"Who are you?" Magiore asked, still frowning. "And where do your loyalties lie, exactly?"

When he relented and opened the door a little bit wider she was quick to slip in, her ears flicking immediately and happily at the temperature change. Just being out of the sunlight was delightful, even with cream colored fur her long hair literally baked in the summer heat.

Her eyes took a quick glance around, they seemed to be alone, before her gaze turned back up to him, puffing her chest out slightly as she noticed him looking her over. She was a pretty. The very prettiest that there was if you asked Dahlia herself. Her black and gold jewelry jingling lightly as she moved, seemingly intent on making herself comfortable and at home.

"What a strange question. M.. Magiore was it?" She tested the name thoughtfully, yes, that seemed like what she remembered from the file.

"I'm Dahlia. Guardian Mauvian of the Negaverse, and sometimes the Dark Mirror Court. Are you going to hurt my feelings and tell me that my reputation and beauty don't precede me?" She teased, knowing quite clearly that he probably didn't know of her. Heck, he probably didn't know very many cats from his reaction. If a cat could pout she would have, instead she simply gave him a simple cocking of her head and some largely pathetic eyes.

He'd never invite an animal normally into his apartment, but since this cat clearly wasn't normal, he had little choice. Magiore was still quite wary of her presence, and he wasn't exactly thrilled at the prospect of having to deal with her for a long period of time. Still, she was one of the cats that the others had spoken of - it would be a good idea to get to know them better.

"Magiore, yes," he said quietly. "A pleasure, Dahlia."

He was pleased to hear that she was on the right side. Magiore gave a little nod, resisting the urge to snort.

"Apologies," he said, a little flatly. "I've been rather secluded away from the guardians, but I haven't heard of you. Still, it's rather nice to know that your loyalties are what they are, especially to the Dark Mirrors as well. You at least seem to know what you're doing."

It wasn't said dismissively so much as it was simply in relief and fact. He waved a hand.

"What brings you to me, then?"

"It's very hot outside." She offered, strangely truthful. Perhaps it was his attitude. As someone who exceeded in reading cues, in finding the best way to charm and stroke the egos of those around her it was pretty easy to ready his wariness. Did he not like cats..? Dahlia had heard of such people, though in her experience had ran into very few who weren't tempted to pet and love on her. Perhaps he was simply adverse to surprise pop ins?

"I've been looking for a ride back to Negaspace actually." She added, a not so subtle hint.

Eventually.

For now, like many a cat in a brand new place, she seemed far more interested in exploring. Even as he spoke she was searching the room with her eyes, tail swishing back and forth in soft interest. After a moment she couldn't contain her desire and her paws began to slowly stroll back and forth.

"Quite so. I'm very good at my job." She purred as she paused, unable to pass up on the chance to toot her own horn. "The Negaverse has so few of our own senshi though, I feel the need to branch out, and not simply to the Dark Mirrors."

Without invitation she padded her way toward the leather couch, and with one soft motion she was on top of it. Closer to his eye level she seemed a bit more contented, and when his question sounded she gazed towards him thoughtfully. "Consider it a wellness visit I suppose."

"I just looove peeking in at Zinkenite's recruits." Her voice was a soft and playful trill as she dropped the General King's name.

Well. That was true, at least. It was hot, and the cat's - Dahlia's - coat was thick and luxurious, which meant that she was probably roasting outside. It didn't make Magiore any less wary, but at least it was an honest response, from what he could make of it.

Her less-than-subtle hint only received a raised eyebrow, but again, her truthfulness was a bonus towards her.

"I see," said Magiore evenly, but he didn't say anything else. The cat was slowly beginning to wind herself around his place, and he let her, watching her with slightly narrowed eyes - but at the same time, he found he wasn't really all that suspicious of her anymore.

He tilted his head. "You speak of the ones that we take for our side, the senshi," he said, mulling this over. "Not the Dark Mirrors, though I find their alliance with us to be most fortuitous." Not that he was biased over this or anything, his thoughts briefly flitting to Mintaka before he readjusted his focus back to Dahlia.

He eased himself down onto the couch, Magiore draping an arm across the back of it and sliding one leg over the other, a slight frown on his face.

"Zinkenite?" he repeated, and there was more than a little eagerness to his voice. He tamed it down, took a breath. "You haven't - he hasn't been around much, lately, though, you haven't seen him, have you? He was the one who recruited me, yes."

And his loyalty to the General-King was absolute, even if his presence had long disappeared.

"It is a good alliance." She agreed to the sentiment as a paw lifted and she licked it, giving one of her ears a slight rub before re-fluffing herself. Having the other group around gave her far more to do, though even with both combined their numbers were still laughable compared to the sheer number of senshi on the other side. He hadn't seemed to get her hint however, so she repeated herself, with a little less subtlety this time. "Our senshi. The Dark Mirrors. I can help both groups in the same way. Assistance in their awakening, helping them get to know their powers and paths, helping them upgrade and unlock more power as they learn and grow."

"While I might not be able to offer the same exact assistance to an agent, that doesn't mean I can't help in some other ways. Advice. Strategy. Encouragement." Her tail swayed with each word, only finally wrapping around her dainty body when she moved onto the next thought.

"Unfortunately I haven't seen much of him either lately... I'm sure the work of a General King never ends, who knows what they have him working on now." There was a bit of a disappointed sigh at the admission. But she pressed forward, her ears fidgeting and flicking before focusing forward again. "But I suppose that's why I felt the need to check in on his things. Make sure everything is going well and keep myself in the know. He always was a big fan of information and communication." And tea and paperwork, but she was less inclined to those two things.

"Soooo.." Her eyes narrowed, almost playfully, one might have even said flirtatiously. "Are you doing well Magiore?"

Well, she certainly acted like a cat, Magiore thought, eyeing her warily as she rubbed her ears with a paw. It was a very strange situation; he was quite literally talking to a cat, and even though he'd been made aware of the Mauvian guardians, he'd never seen one before. Anyone walking by would have thought that he was crazy, but fortunately they were ensconced away in the safety of his own loft.

"That's good to know," he said, which was true, because he did find their alliance with the Dark Mirrors to be something to consider more strongly. Mintaka's desire to reaffirm said alliance had only fueled this desire, and now he gave Dahlia a contemplative look. "And your suggestions imply that you have been with the Negaverse for a while now..?"

It was not said with arrogance or amusement, merely curiosity.

When she said she hadn't heard from Zinkenite, the disappointment was clearly visible on Magiore's face, though he tried not to show it. He leaned back against the couch, easing out a soft sigh, and rubbed at his face before his gaze flickered back to the cat.

His lips turned down in a slight frown.

"Depends on your definition of well," he said, a touch dryly. "I'm doing all right, I suppose it could be said."

"Oh for yearssss." There was a mild drawl in her voice, as if trying to thoughtfully collect the amount of time that had passed since her corruption. It wasn't like cats actually kept calendars or paid that much attention to the passage of time, especially when down in Negaspace. If she had tried hard enough she could probably count the seasons or holidays of the past 4 years to figure it out, but in truth the exact amount of time didn't matter.

A paw extended, stretching almost in the same way a human would count or list off their fingers. "I was recruited very early on, within the first handful of cats in the Negaverse. Back when Tanzanite and Zinkenite had a more visible presence. An important part of the Veritas team. I was there at the attack on the surrounding. I assisted Ares when she awakened all those Dark Mirror souls." There was pride in her voice, it was quite a feat in her opinion, to have helped a Queen and her knew people in such a way. And by now she was simply listing to stroke her own ego, whistful thoughtful words. "I have found and secured prospects for recruitment, assisted in corruptions, and performed upgrades. I've participated in a pawful of missions and even stretched my claws and lasers in a few of the larger scale battles. Yes... you could say I've been here awhile."

Lost in her thoughts she almost missed his sigh and look of disappointment. When he frowned however, his words dry, she lifted herself from her seated position, creeping in closer, entirely intent on rubbing up against him whether he liked it or not. "Now now. No need to be a grump." There was a hint of seriousness despite her teasing use of terms. "I'm not here to spy or snitch on you or anything." She had just been hot like she had said before. And maybe a teeny bit bored... and almost certainly a little lonely still stinging from the lose of her two favorite boys. But she had no nefarious motives.

A purr began to rattle through her chest, trying to win him over. "I really was just looking to make some connections and offer some help, but if there is nothing I can help with.. I guess I can just find another ride to Negaspace...."

"We cats can't teleport on our own you see..." See, she was so pathetic and adorable, how could resist that?

It was slightly embarrassing to admit that he'd also been in the Negaverse for years and was still only a Captain - and that it had taken him almost two and a half just to get to that rank. Magiore wasn't quite certain he wanted to say it aloud, that he'd somehow managed to fall to the lowest of the low, just another faceless agent in the Negaverse he held so dearly.

But Dahlia telling him that she'd been here for as long as she had - it was perhaps a little reassuring, because it meant that she had knowledge she could potentially share with him. Magiore was unfamiliar with several of the events she was listing, but he made a mental note to ask around, do research, become more in tune with what had happened prior to his existence.

"You have been through much, then," he said, with a little nod. "It means you're wise, then, right? You know your way around, you know how to get to where you want to be."

And maybe she could help him get to where he wanted to be in return. Magiore stiffened as she brushed against his side, but after a moment seemed to relax, because she was just a cat, and that was what cats did. "I'm not a grump," he protested, but the word was one that both Kodi and Durumi had used at some point, which probably should have meant something. "Just...quiet. I don't talk much."

His hand reached out, and after a moment, rested atop of Dahlia's head, Magiore still frowning as he smoothed his fingers through her silky fur.

"You wish to go to the Negaverse?" he asked, and, well, he didn't really have any reason not to go. Magiore pinched the bridge of his nose between the thumb and forefinger of his free hand before easing out another sigh, whether of resignation or irritation wasn't clear.

"All right," he said finally. "If you wish to go, I'll take you."

It was information that could be slightly embarrassing, and really.. if he was someone she didn't like it was the sort of information she could use to belittle him and completely decimate him verbally. It was the sort of harsh creature she could be, but that was a vengeful spitefulness and pettiness she saved for those she truly disliked. For everyone else though.. she could always find a reasoning behind it, and sympathy of sorts. It was, in fact, not much different in the scheme of things than herself. Cats could not move through ranks like the senshi or agents they walked over. And so while she could and did receive praise and recognition it wasn't the same. She could not wear it on her person in the way that one wore a General uniform. She had nothing but her own words to proclaim her greatness. And even with her greatness.. the Negaverse still had not actually 'won', something she'd insisted would be easy and quickly done when she was first recruited.

"Wise sounds so old.." She teased as she wiggled her way closer. "But yes, I've definitely been around and I most certainly know how to get what I want." Had he not been so skittish she might have.. disregarded the better judgement not to shift forms.. and shown him just how good she could be at getting whatever she wanted. But her aura in that form was far too noticable and he was still watching her with the timid skittishness of a tiny bunny, just waiting for the right moment to run off in a single bound.

Her purr resonated even louder when his fingers finally came to rest on her head, her whole body seeming to vibrate with the noise, tail swishing happily back and forth. It was almost like a victory that he'd finally relented. "I would like to go to Negaspace.. eventually though. It's nice in here. I'm in no rush now." It was clear enough to read that off of her, seeming to settle in and make herself comfortable on the couch beside him now that he was finally petting her.

Thinking for a moment, she backtracked mildly, nuzzling her head into his hand. "Is there something you want or someplace you want to be?" It was the most likely explanation behind his choice of words.

kuropeco
She could always ruin it all by becoming a half-naked woman practically in his lap. 8D

But she won't. For now at least. Don't need to scare him off or piss off his girlfriend.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 19, 2015 6:09 pm

If he knew what sort of person Dahlia actually was in terms of holding that information against him, Magiore definitely wouldn't have told her about his embarrassing time in the Negaverse. As it was, he still held it inside of himself, because he was too ashamed to admit otherwise.

"Wise just means intelligent," he said, a little dryly, scratching behind her ears. "Unless you're secretly just a wise old man beneath all that fur of yours, but since your voice indicates otherwise, I would be inclined to believe that you're a young woman."

She was flicking her tail and purring now; Magiore briefly wondered whether Durumi would want some sort of pet in their new house. He wouldn't mind getting a cat or a dog if she wanted one, or even a fish. Something low maintenance would technically be better, he supposed, in the grand scheme of things.

...and now she was making herself comfortable. Magiore would have made a sound of exasperation, but didn't.

"Not particularly," he answered, idly tugging on a lock of his hair with his free hand. "I just...haven't been back to the Negaverse in a few weeks, I've been a little busy with things, which is probably not particularly Captain-like of me. I need to go and pay my respects."

"Indeed it does... but there are far prettier words you can use in reference to a pretty young lady. Intelligent, enlightened, sensible, precocious." She was, of course, teasing him a bit, something quite evident by the way her eyes rolled up towards the ceiling, the very tip of her tail shivering and twitching. Dahlia really didn't mind 'wise' all that much, it was a term of respect in a way. Better he think her that then some other things.

When he made his admission, she scoffed a little, a tiny laugh escaping from the feline. "Oh goodness, no wonder you're so jumpy. Did you expect someone had come to drag you back to work and reprimand you for your absence?" It was an amusing thought in the fact that it was sadly a possibility under the lead of certain Generals. "I promise no one sent me. I most certainly understand needing a little time away from... well it all sometimes."

"But I am glad that I can catch two birds with one paw." Her paw lifted softly as she mangled the old saying, her claws tucked away beneath the soft fur. "Get myself back home for awhile and inspire you to check in. How very lucky is that?"
