Work had been steady on the tunnels, packing and stuffing them in with debris and more solid attempts. Milieu felt a bit fatigued from the trek in coupled with the heavy work. It was nice to exhaust her muscles, though. By the time the call came down from troll to troll for lunch, Milieu's stomach was grumbling and ready for a reprieve.
Lunch wasn't much - veggies to those that couldn't eat meat, meat barbecued and slightly black, water and what appeared to be soda-wine for the more adult trolls. Milieu grabbed some meat and water and found where she had previously left her satchel at one of the tables.
Sitting down, the tealblood stretched and undid her hair, deftly braiding it into a single plait down her back. The other scouts should be coming for their own food, hopefully sooner rather than later. From her satchel she pulled out a wrapped up cake she had made for the occasion. Yes, they were there to work and to get things done, but Milieu couldn't help but feel whole and happy with her friends near. It was okay to celebrate the small moments, wasn't it?

Keionx had been trying to figure out the rebels. It was a motley group, but she was starting to notice a disturbing pattern – almost literally, everybody she knew or cared about was under this cavern's roof.
The scouts, of course, she had been expecting. Zariah and her lusus, she had also been expecting. What she hadn't been expecting was Stryke, and – of all the trolls on Alternia – Ephias to appear before her here. And Etsali, though Keionx wasn't sure what she expected from the filthy thief other than upsetting her fruitstuffs cart.
It seemed allright, somehow, but it also made Keionx uneasy. She had fought against the rebels long enough that the idea that she would have been fighting against so many people she cared about and trusted – even killing them – was a chilling idea. It made it even more likely that, until the moment she had stepped into the cavern, she had been on the wrong side all along.
So what else is new said the snide little voice of her sanity in her head.
A lot of things were new.
But also, a lot of things hadn't changed. When Keionx got over her initial wariness of the rebel base and put herself to work, she had started to relax, her personality shining through as she expertly lifted heavy loads and carried them – very heroically – to the dumping sites. Renovating her hive had made her very good at figuring out cave ins and she helped to engineer a few.
By the time lunch called to her tummy, she was ready for it and in a very good mood after all the physical exertion. Seeing Milieu with what appeared to be a treasure trove of food, Keionx walked over, a big grin on her face.
”This isn't all for thee, is it, Milieu?”

The first one to the table was Keionx. Somehow this didn't surprise Milieu. No no, it wasn't that Keionx was a glutton or a slacker. Well, glutton she was unsure of, but slacker was a definite no. The knight-in-training had a strong work ethic. It was heartening to see. It was by that ethic that she had figured Kei would come first. Always punctual and prepared... That was their little orange scout. Milieu shook her grinning head at the comment. Patting the seat next to her, the tealblood wiped down her white board and wrote a new message, | not at all! I intend to share. How are you, Keionx?|DraconicFeline BOOP, it felt natural to have her respond.

Keionx worked hard, fought hard, and ate as big as her lusus's personality. ”Excellent!” she declared, happily picking up some of the meat – with a balanced portion of vegetables of course, ”Thou art always so thoughtful!” she subsequently declared, taking a hearty bite as she sat down, ”And considerate!” she said, upon tasting the food – it was delicious, and just what she needed. She could go on with the adjectives; kind, compassionate, beautiful, amazing... but she didn't need to. She finished chewing and swallowing before she answered Mili again. ”I'm...” she hesitated. How was she? Was she better? Sure – a not insignificant, if little amount. She was being helpful, and her help was appreciated, and her muscles were getting work. Was she happy? For now, yes. Maybe later she would think too hard about something, and it would kill her mood. But for now, with short-term heroic deeds – lifting and carrying - to accomplish and good company to eat lunch with... yes. Happy. Not completely – this was still strange – but she was getting there, and that was closer than she had been in a while. Finally, she settled on an answer. ”Good! I am good. And thou, Mili?”Magician Arcana Beastdad should come over with some milk

Vremea was helping out with healing those who became drastically hurt in the tunnels as they filled them, and although the yellowblood was told she did not need to help lift things and place them to the side, she felt obligated to do so. She was apart of the rebels, after all! Healing others did not count her out of it. So while she was being careful and watchful should any troll get hurt, the yellowblood was definitely helping, lifting a few moderately sized rocks tiredly back and forth before dropping them to the side. She was thankful to have the scouts helping out too-- Just watching them around her helping out was enough to give her strength to keep going, at least until it was time for lunch.
As soon as they were notified for lunch, Vremea had hurried the scouts right out of there, insisting they all needed a nice, yummy meal to fill them up after such a hard time at work! So Vremea followed along the scouts, placing vegetables on her plate and looking around, searching for anyone she knew-- Aha, there were Mili and Kei! She recognized them from a distance, with Kei's poofy hair and hair clips and the telltale mark under the tealblood's eye bringing a smile to Vremea's face. Instantly she made a beeline toward them, sitting herself down smiling down, smiling pleasantly and sitting with them. "Hello there you two! What a good day it has been." Vremea said cheerfully, looking around at them and placing her plate down on the table, a smile playing on her mouth. "Moving things has been such hard work, but I am sure we can do it." Vremea had a determined look on her face, adamant on making their base safe and protected once more-- Oh goodness, was that-- "...cake? Is that cake I see?" Her hands clapped in excitement as she sat down, chuckling softly. "Oh my goodness, Milieu, did you make this for us?" She didn't expect the tealblood to bring a full cake just for herself, but then again, with a cake that looked as delicious as that... Vremea could feel her mouth water at the mere sight of it. You really shouldn't, She told herself, You're allergic to milk, after all. Pouting, the yellowblood resorted to poking at her food instead, releasing a sigh. Milieu's cooking was work of the Messiahs, she was sure. It was such a disappointment, not being able to enjoy the scrumptious meals the tealblood cooked.
Keeping her emotions to herself, Vremea glanced to the side only to see a familiar star poke out from afar, and she squinted a little. With a flash of fur and killer boots on her legs, the yellowblood instantly recognized the greenblood, pump biscuit leaping excitedly. "Athene! Over here!" She called, not loudly but enough for her to hear, raising her hand to show her where they were. This wouldn't do, if the rest of the team wasn't here! Odette was sure to arrive as well!

Athene had enjoyed coming to help the rebels, even if it was just filling tunnels. It had been some time since she had been out from her shop, but even more exciting, was the fact that she would be able to see her friends again. Even if it was just passing by during work, it was something she enjoyed, and broke up the daily monotony that had become working in her shop. Not that she didn't enjoy tailoring, it was her pride and joy after all, but it was a little dull when it was all it was what she did day in and day out. Filling tunnels was a change and she welcomed it, even though it was some hard work. She was glad for the break, spending some time finishing her part before finally moving to the dining area.
It wasn't a surprise that the area was already packed when she got to it and Athene waited in line, taking some veggies and a little bit of meat. She was just looking for the scouts, hoping they were around, and luckily was called over by Vremea.
"Hello, how are all of you?" She said when she made her way over, a grin on her face. Her eyes roamed over the table, landing on the cake. That was surely Milieu's handiwork and Athene's mouth watered, already knowing her cooking. It was wonderful, she would have to nab a piece. "The cake looks absolutely wonderful," She added as she sat down, looking around. Odette was the only one missing, but she was sure she would turn up.
