Being a knight was tough. First of all you were out at night, time that could be perfectly well spent doing other things. Like sleeping, or drinking, or binging for hours unblinking at the newest console games. As if wasting time wasn't bad enough, if you were unlucky enough not to totally waste your time uneventfully, then you got to look forward to things trying to kill you. Monsters with giant teeth and claws. Or people with actual weapons attacking you just because god knows why. Really being a knight was the pits. And it hardly seemed worth the few good experiences where he got to talk to fellow knights or senshi.
Bimini, however, was an optimist. And even after months and years of what could be considered a mostly unpleasant experience, he still headed out a couple of times a week. He still told himself that this time would be better.
Today was no different as he strolled down the street, eyes searching the pavement for glass or other things that might p***k at his barefeet. What would the evening hold for him tonight? Maybe he'd see Odainsaker again. Even if she was well out of his league well... didn't mean he couldn't admire from afar!

He'd been patrolling for the better part of an hour to little with little incident, Aurostibite moving stealthily through the streets of downtown Destiny City. A few alleyways had given him nothing but glazed-eye druggies and a few homeless people here and there to drain energy from, but otherwise nothing of consequence had occurred.
There was a prickle of a power signature; Aurostibite, in the middle of a street, slowed his steps until he'd stopped walking altogether. The light above his head flickered, the bulb humming out its last breaths in a whine that irritated his ears, and Aurostibite glanced around, trying to determine which direction he should go.
The aura grew stronger when he went left, and Aurostibite followed the feel of it, eyes narrowing a little, daggers slipping free of his sleeves to rest in his palms, and he wrapped glove fingers around the hilts, waiting and wondering if he'd need to use them.
Boots clicking, he turned a corner, gaze flashing around the shadowy area.
"Come out, come out wherever you are..." he murmured.
He had felt the aura as he carefully padded along. Negaverse. Captain maybe...? But while the officer was hunting for him, Bimini actually made the decision to try and avoid the other aura. People were scary, and by the time they were captains they almost always had a far better weapon then his silly metal bowl. Luckily for Aurostibite auras weren't the most exact science in the world, and as the Cosmos squire crept along he happened to be creeping in just the wrong direction, realizing only when it was too late.
He could see the movement down the alleyway, someone dark in the shadows and he could feel the aura radiating from them. And there he was in white and sparkles. He'd been 'caught'. His left arm tightened around his bowl, nestling it in a way that attempted to keep it stable while he looked down at his left hand, seeming to have to think about just how exactly he was supposed to hold his fingers when he balled his fist.
There was clearly nervousness in his voice as the older male called out lightly. "Ha.... Nice evening.. isn't it?"

It was not a senshi, but it was not one the right side, either. The white and pastel colors of his outfit stood out in stark contrast to the muted blues and blacks of Aurostibite's captaincy uniform, though their hair was similar in that both had black with colored streaks. He frowned, eyes sweeping over the figure and his bowl, then down to his feet, which were oddly bare.
"I suppose that depends on your definition of nice," he said quietly, and took a step closer, one of the daggers in his hands catching a streak of moonlight and glinting ominously as he swayed. Aurostibite lifted his chin, jaw set, and every movement was slow and purposeful as he stepped forward still.
"It would be rude if you simply ran off," he said, head tilted a little. "Fancy a chat?"
It was clear by his tone that he did not mean the talking kind.
He had seen the flash of silver, fleeting and quick, but it spoke volumes, especially when paired with the threatening tone. Had the other man been a character.. from a movie or videogame Corey would have ooohed and ahhhed over how very cool he seemed. The look, the words, the seeming confidence. But it wasn't so cool now. Not when he was real.
Instead Bimini had cringed visibly, as if debating his options and whether he thought he could actually successfully run away. He didn't think he could, and if whatever the other guy had was as sharp as he was assuming it was... the squire really didn't want to turn his back to him.
"I love to talk. Some people tell me I never shut up. We can chat about anything. The weather, pop culture, the price of tea in china." He was clearly fishing, as if trying to talk the other guys out of whatever he had planned. But nonetheless the ring on his left hand was carefully spun until his Aspect activated, and he somehow seemed to be consumed in even more light and sparkles, as if starlight was glimmering from his skin. Hypocritcal perhaps.

This was either a new knight, or simply one that did not get out much, because the flinch back away from him made Aurostibite somewhat annoyed. He kept moving closer still, squinting through the babble of talk and the extraneous sparkles to find the squire that lay beneath.
"That's not exactly what I had in mind," said Aurostibite, and then he was leaping forward, arm swinging.
Bimini had realized his folly as soon as the officer swung. His aspect, while very useful against youma and an occasional life saver with officers... would have almost zero effect on the man in front of him. With exception to his face, every inch of him was covered in fabric, and Bimini's acid skin well.. all it would do now was make him look like some idiotic teenage vampire. With the realization, the sheen quickly faded, not wanting to waste the energy.
First instinct, as he tried to lean back and avoid the blow, was to kick. However the Cosmos knight had learned quite early on how much he didn't like stubbed toes. As such, the second instinct took over, jutting his bowl out like a shield which had the after effect of sending a wave of water at his opponent. "Fuuuck." The water would be harmless to Magiore, an annoyance perhaps, but Bimini was already cursing, realizing his second mistake. His water gone he had no way to use his magic.. no way to 'heal' his wounds if/when he got hit with the other man's daggers.
This had the potential to be a very very bad night.
"Boy I just can't win. First that girl bad mouthing my singing. And now just my voice?" It was clear from the tone of his voice that he was talking to himself, as if the quip was one of the few things keeping him from curling in a ball and just taking what was about to be dealt.

In retrospect, Aurostibite had a very bad habit of attacking first and asking questions later - or rather, during - his fights. He had been taught that this was the quickest way to garner information from those on the wrong side of the war, and because of this, he tended to be a little reckless at times. It was a habit he needed to fix, but it would take some time.
The knight had ducked away; one of Aurostibite's blades clattered noisily against the metal of the bowl, and the water surged out, cascading over him. He let out a muffled oath, cold seeping through the fabric of his uniform and seeping into his skin unpleasantly.
A single brow arched.
"Perhaps you should learn to keep your mouth shut, then," said Aurostibite, the suggestion a little biting, and he flipped one of his daggers around to hold it the opposite way in his hand. His gloves felt annoyingly sticky and itchy, now that they were wet, but still he tried to swing a low blow, aimed towards the knight's torso.
"I don't know, if I'm loud enough someone might come to my rescue." He yelped, half a joke - half a desperate wish that he hoped would be fulfilled. He played the damsel in distress well.
The sound of ripping fabric could be heard. Luckily for Bimini the billowy many layers of flowing robes and sashes had somehow managed to catch most of the blade and protect his chest, leaving only a pin thin line of blood across his now exposed chest. But that sting was enough.
Though the man's daggers were fairly small Bimini had watched enough movies and played enough video games to know that size did not matter and they were plenty lethal. Panicing the squire began to simply swing the bowl back and forth in front of him, hoping it might keep the other man at bay.

The comment made his frown increase.
"You are a knight," said Aurostibite, and it wasn't really a question, more just a statement as the tip of his dagger cut a jagged line across the fabric of the other's chest. He heard the fabric rip in a strangely satisfying way, even if he'd only managed the barest scrape actually on the man himself.
"Why should you need to have someone come to your rescue?" Aurostibite pointed out flatly. "Shouldn't you - "
He got momentarily distracted, because Bimini's attempts at defending himself were succeeding fairly well. With each thrust of his dagger towards the squire, Aurostibite heard the clang of metal against metal. Once or twice, the bowl smacked into his hand, nearly making him drop his own weapon as a ringing pain shot up and down his arm.
" - shouldn't you be the one doing the rescuing?" Aurostibite finally managed to growl out.
The soft clang of metal on metal over and over was a welcomed surprise to Bimini, who was moving more on survival instinct then anything else. An as the Captain questioned him, with questions he'd most certainly asked himself subconciously in the past, the squire snapped, answering far more honestly then he should have.
The bowl swung. "Because I'm a grown ******** man, dressed up like the rainbow."
And again. "A white mage with a stupid bowl to fight people who can wield fire or long a** spears or big a** monsters." Really he shouldn't have been knocking his bowl, considering what a good job it was actually doing tonight.
"And I need little teenaged girls to come rescue me, because god knows I can't even rescue myself." The knight almost sounded like he was going to cry as he made the honest admission, but he managed to muster at least enough dignity not to. He was a defeated man however, that was clear, even simply in the slowing speed and sloppy way he was beginning to handle his bowl 'shield'.

Wow, it got angsty up in here @o@
Anyway, feel free to give him a few good stabby/slicies as long as you don't hit anything vital and quickly bleed out-able. XD

He'd apparently hit a button somewhere along the way.
The reaction surprised Aurostibite, even if it didn't register on his face. He automatically tried to lean back away from the swinging bowl, though it managed to catch his arm and wrist yet again, once or twice, a hiss of pain escaping him as he shifted his feet rapidly. Aurostibite let out a derisive snort, staggering to the side as a particularly good thrust of Bimini's smacked his elbow, sending ricochets of pain up and down his arm.
"I didn't realize your insecurities were so blatant," he said flatly, not that Aurostibite could talk, considering his own. He'd been in the Negaverse for so long and yet he was still just a Captain that needed to be assisted by others to get to where he wanted to be.
Shameful, said the voice inside of his head, but Aurostibite ignored it. He could tell the squire was slowing, and he took advantage of it, flipping the knife and aiming well in order to cut a clean line hopefully across one of the other's arms, where the fabric was less thick and bulky.
Corey always wore everything on his sleeve. He was an open and honest person with so few boundries both emotionally and physically. He was no stranger to saying or admitting embarrassing things, usually with nothing more then a sheepish grin.
So even after the words had come out and the Captain had taunted him about them.. he really didn't feel that badly about admitting it. It was the truth and there wasn't a whole lot of use in fighting it.
To the next question he was equally truthful, a sad smile crossing his face. "I don't really even know..."
When the bowl hit Aurostibite's elbow it vibrated from the force, that along with the slickness of the interior had it slipping. And when the knife landed, tearing a long and painful line across his arm the bowl dropped completely, clattering loudly on the ground. He didn't dare try to duck down and grab it with those knives so close.

This is actually peeerfect for his up coming knight growth, so thank you. *o* Alsoooo I'll find a way for him to try and escape in the next post, so this one's pretty close to done too!
He's going to get to become a full white mage and be a healy transcendent and realize he can stop fighting and contribute in other ways.

Aurostibite was finding this particular squire to be strangely irritating, in his own way. Perhaps it was just because he disliked speaking with someone so open when he himself was so guarded and closed off at any normal circumstance.
And also perhaps it was because he felt consistently thrown off guard by the sheer honesty of this squire.
Aurostibite heard the noisy clatter of the bowl and as soon as it had fallen from the squire's fingertips, he took advantage of the opportunity, lashing out sharply and kicking hard at the same time, trying to knock him off of his feet and onto the ground, if at all possible.
"Maybe you should simply go and figure that out, then," he said flatly.
Bimini was equally un-fond of Aurostibite. It had more to do with stabbiness then anything else, but he wasn't particularly thrilled by how... annoyed the Captain seemed with him either.
Attempting to dodge the lashing knife Bimini crouched, taking the kick unfortunately to the gut, his long sash grasping and wrapping around the Captain's leg in a effort to keep himself from falling over backwards. Wheezing with pain, while also trying not to stand there long enough to get stabbed, he realized suddenly with great mystification what he'd accidentally done.
His robes, and especially his ridiculously large sash had often times tripped him up when he was trying to run away or dodge. So the fact that he'd managed to somehow get it looped around the other man's leg... Bimini would not look a gift horse in the mouth.
With a quick swirl of his arm he attempted to wrap it even further before pulling it tight, attempting to trip up Aurostibite before he pivoted and ran like the dickens. Whether the Captain tripped or not, hopefully the excess fabric would slow him enough for Bimini to get far enough away. And then he could power down so that he couldn't be tracked. It'd worked on Painite once, maybe, hopefully it'd save him again.
