This is between myself, playing Derrick Mathis, and the gothic beauty 2, playing Kaiden "Kai" Rouminouff-Atwaters. Don't post if you're not us, but you're welcome to read along~.

 Kaiden had been kidnapped, he woke to find himself in a cage with a pool of water. Looking around, he realized this was a black market shop for rare and exotic things. His fears were only confirmed as someone came up to the cage he was in and spoke of the rare merman-vampire prince within. He growled and showed his fangs hoping to appear less glamorous to the people that were looking a him. When they didn't leave him alone, he dove into the pool which was surprisingly deep, but it also had glass around it to show his other form. As he swam he tried to find a place where he wouldn't be seen and eventually put his tail around him so only the silver scales were visible.

 Derrick MathisDerrick walked down the street. There were all sorts of markets with different illegal products. He usually paid a visit to the foreign goods shops, but today, something else caught his eye. Or, rather, someone. A silver-scaled merman. Merboy? Derrick wasn't familiar with merfolk terms. Now, he typically avoided sales of people. The only living creatures he bought were animals. But....Something drew him to this one. He looked familiar. Maybe that's why he wanted to buy him. Even if just to let him go. Walking up to the tank cage...thing, Derrick listened to the different prices the people were calling off. Of course, no one went over twenty thousand. Probably because they new knew ry wouldn't keep him long. Derrick seriously considered his decision as the auctioneer started to close down the auction. "One hundred thousand. In bills, right here on the spot." The auctioneer paled a bit at the offer, but of course he was the buyer. Who would go above that price? Or, up against him?

Kai was auctioned off and when someone bid one hundred thousand, everyone including him, looked shocked. No one else tried to offer another price, since there was really no way of knowing how much Derrick had. Once the auctioneer shouted SOLD Kaiden was caught in a net and made to change back into his human form. "Would you like to have him muzzled and chained for easier shipment?" The auction staff asked even as the hybrid struggled and growled attempting to get free.

Derrick MathisDerrick frowned when he was asked if he wanted the boy muzzled and chained. Muzzled? "No. I see no reason to. If he's smart, he'll know better than to attack me." Derrick took the leash and gave a firm tug, trying not to raise any suspicion. Once outside, he grabbed the boy's arm and leaned in close like he was going to threaten or warn him. "Calm down, and you'll get out of here alive. Do not do anything stupid and get us both killed. Got it?"

Kai followed the other out of the auction house growling and trying to pull his arm away. When the man that purchased him leaned in Kai's eyes flashed dangerously and he growled again. "You mean like buying someone that is part vampire?" He didn't understand why his 'master' was trying to warn him. "Why do you care if I get out of here? Clearly you don't seem to care about the life of those here. If you did why would you come here?"

Derrick MathisDerrick grumbled. "I came here for a painting from Italy. A painting worth roughly one hundred thousand. I only bought you because....I don't know why. All I know is that I needed to get you out of there. Now, stop struggling!" Derrick let go of his arm and took Kaiden's leash again. "Just behave."

A painting? He was bought for the same price as a painting. Well, that was surprising and a bit shocking to him. Eventually, Kai decided to see if he could trust the male, looking at the other's thoughts briefly. So, he could be trusted that was good. You don't need to hold the leash, I will go with you for now. Im Kaiden. As he followed Derrick the prince let out a small sigh wondering just what was going to happen now. If he was returned home, he was sure his parents would reward the man, well, he hoped so.

Derrick MathisHe looked back at Kaiden. He wasn't sure if he should let the leash go, but he decided to try trusting him. At the very least, Derrick was sure Kaiden wouldn't rick being caught again. Letting go of the leash, he walked towards his car. "...Derrick Mathis."the gothic beauty 2 He still has Alvin, but he'll be off at a private boarding school. So, there will be few visits from him. He calls every evening, though. :3

The teen followed behind even with the leash no longer being held. He had said he wouldn't run and he meant it. "What exactly do you plan on doing with me? If you came for something else, I doubt I would fit where your painting would go." Derrick Mathis? He thought the name sounded familiar but he couldn't place it. Was that one of the names his father had spoken of? It was so hard to pay attention to the lessons sometimes when all Kaiden had wanted to do was swim or work in the garden. Sure, he wanted to explore as well, but he had trouble getting his parents to let him out of the house. When he was allowed, he always had someone with him. It was only on this last occasion he had slipped away and was taken as a result. "So, have any kids or family?" He was trying to lighten the mood of the conversation, but didn't think he was doing a great job at it.

Derrick MathisDerrick looked at Kaiden. "They'll have us watched for awhile to make sure I'm not doing exactly what I'm doing. I think a week should be enough time? After that, I'll take you home." As they approached the car, Kaiden asked about his family. "...My wife dies in a church fire nineteen years ago. It's just been me and my son since. He's off at boarding school, though, so now it's just me."

"A week? Will I at least be able to tell my parents Im alright? They are probably worried about me." When he heard about the other's wife Kai looked down. "Im sorry, I didn't mean to bring up something tragic." At least he still had his son right? "Boarding school? Why do you have him go to one of those? You probably don't get to see him very often, you must be very lonely." Kai was starting to actually feel bad for this guy. He didn't seem to have anyone else to be with, and Kai wanted to do something to fix that.

Derrick MathisCall his parents....Derrick closed his eyes for a moment. "I'll let you call them, but just once. We can't risk anyone finding out and coming after you again. So, make it count, alright? Talk to them for awhile. Make sure they don't try anything and endanger us all." Kaiden apologized for asking about his family and then asked why he let his son go to a boarding school. "I've recovered from her passing well enough. As for Alvin....He begged me to let him go. I kept him locked away most his life, he was miserable. I don't like it, but....He's my son. I just want him safe and happy." Derrick opened the car door for Kaiden and waited until he was in before getting in himself.

the gothic beauty 2 "Thank you Derrick, for what your doing for me. I can convince my mother to stay away, my father will be a different matter. He doesn't like to wait." Kai scratched the back of his head sheepishly and got into the car. "I guess that makes sense as long as your child is happy you can be too right?" Kai wondered just what his son was like and if maybe Derrick could influence his own parents to let him leave the castle sometimes. Maybe he would be allowed to come visit Derrick sometime when he went home.

Derrick MathisWell, his father was going to have to wait. Derrick could understand the man getting impatient, but he hoped he understood their position. Kaiden would be safe with Derrick. "He calls every evening, so at least I know he's fine" Derrick started the car and drove back to Arabor. It wasn't a long drive, so they were there in an hour or so. Once parked, he got out and opened the door. "You can stay in Alvin's room until you go home. Is that alright? There's a lake out back if you want to swim, too. Private property, so there won't be any stragglers there."
