 Her movements were careful, easy going as she helped guide the little ivory kit that walked just under her, careful not to step on little paws but not crowd her little one.
Rire adored her kits, they were little delights that she relished in. "Come now Parvati..We must not be late now." happiness danced through her melodious tone. She was excited for this little meet up, a little bonding time with the kits and to get to know Kimi better. She was careful as she walked under her mother, she could see the darker shadow of her mother above her, the lighter grayish white of everything else.
She knew her vision was different than her siblings, and her mother but her grandfather said her understood, it had been his before it all went black. She shivered, she didnt want to be swallowed in darkness. But her mood was chipper, she was excited to play with her siblings and sniff out, possibly chew on this Kimi guy.

Nina had been excited since early morning. Talking a blue streak about the ulaya she had met while spending time with Kimi, as if the elder didn't already know them. That didn't matter at all to her, there was so many of them and they were all so interesting!
"And she had three tails! Did you see them? And she was waving them around all whooshy whooshy whooshy," she wiggled her own stumpy tail imagining she had a much more fancily adorned rear end for a moment.
"Yes, Nina... she is my--"
Leaping over the male she raced around and put her paws on his shoulder. "And then he said his name was Two-Dee, isn't that silly, that's not a name that a number and a letter, what was his momma even thinking giving him that name?"
"I think it means something important to him all the same..."
"But he was singing a really pretty song. What's the matter with me? What's the matter with me, me, me... Mommy!!!" Nina squealed very close to his good ear as she spotted her mother and sister making their way towards them.
Kimi heaved a sigh and himself up to his feet with some effort as he watched the kitten race over and bumped into Rire's foreleg. "Thank goodness..." he murmured and made to follow although he was far steadier on his feet now than he was in his youth, he still had the occasional dizzy spell and would list to the right as he traveled forward.

"Nina!" Rire exclaimed happily as she lowered her head and nuzzled her darling daughter adoringly. "Ah my little flower, you've grown so much!" She nipped at her little ear tuffs with a smile, before she lifted her gaze and smiled kindly at Kimi.
"Hello Kimi! Sorry it took us so long.." She beamed him one of her rare, true smiles.
With a laugh, she bounced at the smaller, darker blurp she knew was her sister. "Nini!" She squealed as she bounced out from the safety of their mother.
She tugged on her sisters shoulder before she paused, ears perked towards Kimi, she titled her head as she eyed his darker, larger blob of a shadow, she stalked after him now, nub of a tail wiggling in the air as she moved closer.

"Mommy mommymommy and Titi!" Nina nuzzled on Rire vigorously, still talking a mile a minute, her focus shift to her sister just a second before Rire greet Kimihiro.
Kimi was still moving towards them, pace slow and desperately trying not to topple sideways. He hid it well, having dealt with his balance issue his entire life it was still an issue of slight embarrassment but he managed to keep his feet and huffed softly as he paused with the slightest sway.
She rolled with her sister, nuzzling happily on her as well, even as Parvati paused, attention turning to Kimi. Nina was still chattering rapid paced, about whatever came to mind, winding herself between and beneath the adults legs.
"Rire, and little Parvati as well, hello." He dipped his head a touch and grinned at the little one before turning his attention to Rire once more. "Nevermind that, Rire, we were enjoying the sunshine and," he chuckled lightly, "chatting."

Rire smiled as she arched a brow and laughed softly, "Yes, I can see that." She looked at her little Nina who was just chatting away, Rire scooped her up with one paw and nuzzled her belly. "My little chatterbox."
With a glance back at her mother and sister, Parvati carefully picked her way over towards Kimi, she paused in front of his paws, and rubbed her face against them.
She looked up at him then, his shadow much larger than her mothers, her ears twitched, his heart thudded differently as well, nose twitching as she took in his scent, that too was greatly different, but she could smell Nina on him.
She smiled up at him.

"But mommy Kimi knows so many people and he knows stories, he's been like everywhere and--" Being scooped up cut her off, she squealed happily at having her belly nuzzled and latched onto her mother's head in playful retaliation.
Parvati was much quieter and had a gentle touch, compared to her sister. At first Kimi had thought that she would pounce on him as well, but it seemed that trait was Nina's alone... or maybe Parvati was just shy?
The nuzzling made him smile and he flopping down on his side, better to be on her level, also easier on himself. "Kinda hard to get a word in edgewise, huh?" he smiled gently, his voice really low, not that Nina would take offense if she did overhear him since he was only teasing.
"It's okay, sweetie. Words aren't everything."

Laughing, she blew on her little ones tummy again, Rire loved being a mother, and would forever be grateful to Kimi for helping her raise her rambunctious lot of fur balls. She would dread the day they questioned her about their father, and wondered how it would taint their image of her, but for now, she relished in their love. "Has he now?" She glanced over at Kimi and Parvati and felt something twitch inside her. "I bet he had wonderful stories, but do you slow down enough to listen?" She teased her darling Nina.
Her nose wrinkled for a moment, she could speak, but it was hard to speak about things she couldnt see.
It was, what did her grandpop call it, a c***k in her armor..whatever that meant!
Instead, she climbed onto Kimi, his shoulder was a mountain compared to her mothers, she hung over it and gently head butted his chin. "You smell spicy.." Her voice was like a hushed whisper, she sniffed at him. "Like far away places.." She pressed her little nose into his cheek. "But your heart is good..hurting, unsure..but good." She continued.
While she couldnt see, her other senses were honed, sharply, and like her great uncle said, she had a sense it seemed that no one else had, she could pick up so much about another simply by their scent, or the beat of their heart.

Nina had squirmed at the raspberry and was squirming still, laughing and carrying on for the attention, but her mother's words brought a moment's pause over the little one. She thought hard for a moment. Of course she had heard the stories, otherwise how could she be so excited about them, but had she actually listened.
She wanted to chirp out a prompt 'Yes, mother,' but more accurately she thought that might be something she needed to work on. "I might interrupt him more than I should." It wasn't easy to just listen, especially when she so easily got excited.
A breath of a laugh escaped as the tiny nose wrinkled at him, Kimi didn't say anything more for the moment. Letting Parvati climb on him to her hearts content, she'd speak when she was ready. Kimi watched her with his one good eye, head tilted a little over his shoulder as the kit settled.
"Ah," he paused, about to lick one of her ears after his chin was bumped, but waited and listened, blinking at her words. "I have been traveling. For many years... since I was young."
He didn't know what more to say to her, though he wouldn't be anything less than honest, his brows were up, one more so than the other, he glanced at Rire and Nina a moment before shaking off the surprised expression. "My heart was, confused, for a long time... It doesn't hurt so much, now that I'm home. It's on the mend... Kimi admitted in a soft tone, letting his voice raise a bit as he praised her. You're very perceptive, Parvati. You could tell just from my scent? Maybe I need a bath." Kimi laughed now, and licked her velvety ear.

Looking down are her darling Nina, she could see so much of herself in the tiny kit. "Well Im sure his stories spark so many questions, he has been so many far away places." She nipped lightly at her daughters ear tuffs. "Kimi is a very interesting character isnt he?" She mused quietly, almost to herself as she kept glancing back to him. Certainly different than anyone she knew, and she liked to think herself a social creature. "So my little mischief monster, what troubles have you found lately?"
Ears twitching at all the sounds around them, she tilted her head to look at Kimi, the lick against her ear making her giggle and shiver all at the same time, the sound was loud but the feeling made her giggle. "I want to travel one day, but mama says it'd be to dangerous for me to go alone.." She huffed a little, she didnt like being hindered simply because she was different than others. "No not just your scent.." she said with a grin, "I can hear your heart...the beat of it tells a story..kinda, its like its own song.." She stretched out around Kimi's neck, quiet happy at her perch higher up.

Nina squirmed, wigging to scratch a sudden itch on her back before rolling to her feet once more. When her ears were nipped she backed them and shook her head but an instant after she was dancing around her mother's legs again.
"You should ask him to tell you a story, mommy! Not at bedtime though, cause you won't fall asleep soon! He knows draco and beasties and and, fairy tales!"
Nina loved the fairy tales best. Kimi had picked up a fair share in his travels. True stories were all well and good, but gods and rivalries and spooky things you couldn't explain were definitely the best. She flopped down on her mothers paws and gave a happy sigh.
"I've been good, I've been being so good, ask anyone!" Immediately she began to rattle off all the things they'd done, all the names of the ulaya that she'd met (when she could remember them, when she couldn't she made them up). She swore up and down that she hadn't gotten into any trouble, and she hadn't. Mostly because Kimi was much too soft to dole out punishments.
Kimi hummed softly as he listened, giving a little nod, understanding Rire's reasoning though he did have reassuring words to share. "It can be very dangerous. I had a lot of close calls," more than he'd like to think about, "but that's no reason not to ever go. You wouldn't necessarily have to go it alone either, one of your sisters, or your brother perhaps... or I could go on a journey with you."
The offer was given in a low tone, not whispered, he wasn't trying to keep it from Rire. It just seemed more appropriate to speak softer with the little kit snuggled so close. She seemed very comfortable there and he didn't mind, not having to get up and staying in one spot was preferred sometimes.
"Heartbeats are songs?" He smiled, glancing up at Rire and Nina for a moment. It was a nice idea, he'd never really notice it himself, sure he'd felt his heart race in moments of terror or elation... but he wouldn't discount the word of such a perceptive kit. "I think I'd like a chance to hear one of these heart songs one day."

"Well of course you've been good!" Rire said with a smile, "Why would you be anything else hmm?" She arched a brow, looking questioningly at her daughter for a moment. "Havent been picking up bad habits from grandpa have we?" She teased, her father might be a real...jerk to others, but so far he'd been just a gem to the kits he'd been furious about at first. She was sure there were still marks on her rump from the tongue lashing she'd gotten when she confused what had happened, but now, as she looked to her darling little ones, she wouldnt change a thing. Her gaze fell onto Kimi and she smiled to herself, and well, something even more interesting had come from it.
She almost sent herself falling off her perch around his shoulders when she perked up quickly. "Really!? You'd come with me!?" She exclaimed with sheer kit-like excitement. "Mom definitely couldnt say no then.." she gave a wicked little grin as her eyes danced. She could just see all the sorts of adventures they could go on together. "I just gotta get a little bigger.." She said with a stately nod before she shook her head and smiled. "You can hear them all around, you just gotta listen." She grew very still, her eyes didnt close, but something about her expression shifted and you could simply tell, that she was doing just that. "Have to push out the chattering.." She whispered with a soft giggle. "And listen."

Nina grinned widely up at her mother, showing nearly all of her teeth. "I don't wanna cause trouble and be a naughty girl." Though her wants and her actions didn't always add up.
At the mention of grandpa Tac, Nina was about to ask when she was going to get to see him again, soon soon soon, she hoped but then she thought about Kimi's dad being a grandpa too and her thought got interrupted by Parvati's outburst and her attention turned to her and Kimi.
"Of course, well... we would still have to get her permission first." Kimi steadied the little kit as best he could so she wouldn't topple, he nearly did from the action, but as he was already laying down, neither of them would have gone far.
That grin was completely adorable on Parvati's face. He'd seen it's twin on Nina a fair share of times already, but somehow it gave a different feel there. "All in good time, now, don't rush to grow up and miss out on things only kits can do."
Still her smiles were infectious and he found himself feeling light and calm, rather than tense and on edge as he'd been with Nina... not that the rambunctious little kitten was all that bad. She just kept Kimi on his toes.
"Alright, I'll listen." Kimi closed his one eye, finding himself watching Parvati rather than listening at first, and still watching Rire and Nina as well. Once closed, he felt his own heart beat. The warm drape of the kitten around his shoulders. He could feel her breathing if he held his breath, but he wasn't sure these songs were there for him to hear, even after tuning the chattering out as best as he was able.
Once Nina remembered where her train of thoughts was heading off to she asked about going to visit her grandpa, and chattered away about whatever else was on her mind.

"Soon, but you, your sister and brother will be off with grandpa for a few days so that Kimi, and mommy can have some adult time while grandpa Tac spoils you guys just ridiculously, Aunt Ami will be there too of course." She knew how much her aunt loved doting on the kits, and missed when her own were smaller, but she also knew how much her father enjoyed having them around, trying to make them even more into mischief monsters than they already could be.
She slowed her breathing down, just enough to maintain breathing, but considerably slower than what even she was comfortable with. "Just keep listening, just let everything else go." She said softly, she didnt need to tap into it like this really, her hearing was already extremely keen. But she had faith that sooner or later, Kimi too would hear the music of the heart.

"Yay! Aunt Ami and Grandpa Ta-- wait a minute..." Nina had leaped at the idea of getting to visit with them for a few days, until the truth of the matter sunk in a bare second later.
"You're gonna do fun things without us, aren't you?" Nina had no idea her behavior was running every adult that looked after her ragged, she enjoyed being looked after by so many interesting people. That these various adults needed time to recover not listening to her go on about whatever topic that entered her mind and chasing her out of rivers and whatever other trouble was completely beyond her.
Doing his best to follow Parvati's lead, Kimi let his breathing calm without holding it and again letting it slow down further as he tried not to hear Nina's voice, or Rire's reply. Listening for something else... this elusive heart song. He was sure it would be there somewhere. Parvati wasn't the sort to make things up to trick someone... as far as he knew.
So he listened, still feeling his own heart beats, but the sound, the song, just didn't seem to be there... and he had to wonder if it was because his hearing wasn't so good on his right side. That or he was lacking in some other capacity to miss what it was he should be hearing.

"Don't fret my little love, I promise the things that grown up do for fun you'd find incredibly boring. Plus hasnt Kimi earned a little time to himself? Though Im sure he would rather spend all his time with you. Who wouldnt? Your a very special little darling." She nuzzles her daughter tenderly, hoping that she didnt just bodge this all up completely. "And afterwards, mommy promises to take you out to do something, just us. How does that sound?" She would do anything to keep her kits happy, anything in her power.
She shook her head at Kimi, "Sshh, no thoughts, no doubts...nothing. Listen for your own heart first." She said softly to him. She knew he could do it, she knew that if anyone could, it would be him. It had to be, the small kit had such faith in him, she knew in her bones he would always be there, someone she could always trust and depend on. She may be a kit, but her mother had deemed she had an old essence, she wasnt exactly sure what that meant but it felt..right.
