Epine de Rose
Uncert

She had never explicitly been told not to go in to the roguelands, but there had been an unwritten rule and an underlying understanding but this was how the world worked. For someone like her, who was regarded as vulnerable and without skill, the world beyond the Bahari was...dangerous. Out in the world that now lay no more than a paw step forward, she wouldn't find the protection and support she had here if a more nasty soul were to greet her.

That said, she couldn't help but wonder what lay beyond it... Her father had come from those lands and he was wonderful. Heck, her mother was adamant he was heroic, so how could anything beyond the realm of the Bahari be that bad? Shouldn't she at least take a chance?

This was the thoughts she pondered as she sat on the border, her gaze focused on the horizon beyond and what might lurk in the distance. She knew it was risky, but she really wanted to know and maybe if she was careful it wouldn't be so bad...

The pale lion hated his life out here, he hated it with a passion. As much as he despised the idea of what his pride had done to others, suffering out here...alone and without the shelter from the harsh sun or the comfort of knowing where his family is or what their state was; he was somber and had been for a great length of time. Getting by off of scraps he'd found...and resisting every urge to eat as he had in that jungle, dense and dark and sanguinous in its state.

He dreaded to imagine what it was like now.

In his thoughts amidst his walking, he spotted a figure sat on the horizon as a bump, a thorn in a mostly flat landscape as the distant smell of the ocean drew him in only a touch closer. He must've mistaken the sharp smell for something else. Something far more comforting.

"Hello...?" He called out. Testing the waters as it were.

He interrupted her little reverie somewhat abruptly, but anything would seem abrupt when she was that far into her own little world. She gave two rapid blinks and then finally turned her attention to the source of the voice. At first she was surprised, and then this was quickly followed by a mild for of annoyance. How had she missed him? He was so very pale against the yellow-ness of the savannah and he had managed to evade her view completely.

Oooh, perhaps he was a ghost?

She shook her head dismissively and stood up, aware that the entire concept was perhaps a little bit ridiculous. Thus, instead of bolting at the first side of the paranormal, she simply raised a paw and gave a light wave before padding towards him. She hadn't wandered too far away from the border but it had already left her with a slightly giddy feeling.

"Hello!" she replied merrily. "Smashing day," she continued and then raised a brow. "How did you do that though, are you a ghost?"

Pausing mid step in his journey to her, the purple eye'd pale on peered at her with an arched brow and a slightly thoughtfuly 'Uhhhhhm' hanging his lower jaw open before he raised a paw and rolled it slightly in the air as he spoke.

"I'm...pretty sure you'd have a different reaction if I was a ghost, madame..." Madame. How long had it been and the old formalities still kept their hooks in him? Just as his equally pale father had taught him so long ago. He shook his head and settled his paw shakily on the ground as he registered her and how she looked. Her fur looked...oddly curly. Like she'd been soaked constantly.

One of the ocean clan?

"I'm sorry to interrupt you, miss...?"

"Your point," she began. "Is very valid," she agreed, referring to how she might react to him if he had indeed been a paranormal being. Her squeals would have brought her darling pride's guards thundering to her heel and then how would she explain what she was up to? No, she'd be in so much trouble and that just wouldn't do at all! Nevertheless, his remarks did remind her that she had been raised with manners and she should probably use them before she caused any sort of offence... In fact, she should probably remember them if she did decide to break free!

"Oh, my name is Solenn!" she finally introduced herself and raised a paw in another of her waves. "And you were interrupting," she continued, shaking her head just a touch as a smile crept on to her lips again. Far be it for her to pass up on the opportunity to quiz an outsider; he had, after all, seen far more than she had of the yellow wilderness. "I was just admiring the view and..." she paused and pursed her lips. "Pondering what it's like to be out there, I've never been and the stories I've heard make it sound rather exciting."

"More exciting that the beach, that's for sure." she added. "You must have some neat stories, right Mr.?"
