Xanthophyceae was minding his own business studying some flora and fauna with an interested eye. He'd heard of this particular plant before, but he couldn't remember what it was called. Lightly with his hoof, he'd stroke the edges of it and watch it curl in on it's self.
It was just a little unnerving.
He couldn't exactly fathom what would be the function of a plant like this. Did it eat what it caught? Did it close up at night? Perhaps he should stay late and observe it. He wasn't quite sure what to think of it. It was almost like...magic, but then magic wasn't actually real so that wasn't a valid thought.
Hmm... Well, all there would be would be to study it and see if he could figure it out. So that meant he'd have to scrounge some food and stay here to observe how it reacted for twenty-four hours. Yes, that was the thing to do.
He leaned his nose closer to inspect the plant.

Bracken nosed her way through the tall grass, feeling incredibly stupid for being lost in the plains. She and Oak had been here for what, months? Wasn't it time to find a forest or something besides endless grass that was too tall to see over? Maybe that was their problem - both of them had two left feet, and they couldn't see their way out of the stupid grass. She sighed heavily as she kept on, knowing that Oak followed in her path a ways behind, eating his way through. Such a large animal had to keep himself fed as he walked, or he would starve in his tracks.
Sighing again, Bracken looked up from the ground, and suddenly found her nose pressed against something that was decidedly not grass. She hadn't been walking to fast, so the force of her nose to whoever's rump stood before her wasn't a lot, but she still screeched and scrambled backward. "--the hell?" came a strangled cry from her throat, eyeing the backside she'd just run into. It was mostly white, with a short, little tail that struck her as almost foal-like, and glowing green stripes. "Are you just standing around in the grass?" she demanded. "If something bigger and more toothy than me had come along, you'd be a goner!" Unsettled by her sudden contact with another usdia for the first time in weeks, Bracken shook herself with a little rumble.

Xanthophyceae gave out a shrill shriek when something touched his rump. He shot forward and straight into the little plant who was all too eager to close it's little leaves over the delicate skin of his nose. With a screech, he shot backwards this time and landed in a heap looking up a mini who was scolding him for not paying attention. "You touched my bottom!" He said accusingly, a little flustered. "Why did you do that? You scared the daylights out of me. Glad I dont' have a nervous bladder."

"I didn't mean to," Bracken grumbled. "The grass is just too - behind you!" Her eyes went wide as she spotted movement on the other side of the usdia before her, jumping backward again to get away from it. When she realized what it was - some strange fern thing - she had to tell herself that no, plants couldn't be possessed. There was no such thing as possession or ghosts or anything, despite those stories that people loved to tell. "The hell is that?" she asked, standing stock still and staring at it, ready to do a nymph run if she must. Oak could find her later if she had to do such a thing by following her beaten-down trail through the grass and soothing any scandalized bystanders she'd jumped over in her hurry to get away from whatever threatened her survival.
