    (Capture Success!)

Kekeovonnai avidly explored Serenia's golden woods, delighted for the oppurtunity to paw through the wilder lands of the Orderites. Of course, it was not completely wild, not like the forests of the Expanse. Even the deeper woodlands had a cultivated feel, their animals and plants managed by the Orderites to keep it appearing pristine and wild, though the nearby roads and towns diminished it's wildness considerably. It was much like Soldul in this way, but in all other ways, it was wholly unique.

Already, as he had wandered deeper and deeper into the woods, Kekeovonnai had uncovered nearly four types of plants he had never seen before and at least one lizardlike amphibian he had never even heard tell of – and this was just the beginning. Who knew what other wonders awaited him in Serenia, as he trotted ahead, far off the path now, towards the surprisingly concentrated smell of animal manure and water.

A farm? Ohh, he did so want to see a farm!

Honoka was laying down flat on her belly and stretched out on the dirt that was in front of her mama's house enjoying the warm sun. Her mama and papa weren't home, not yet, both out in the fields with her baby brothers. Her papa wouldn't leave them alone out there, even if her mama reassured him that all farm mothers left their children out there to play. It was just as well he went, some of the mothers seemed to like that a khehorian was watching over the children while they worked. Less worry, she guessed, of them sneaking or wandering off where a dragon could snatch them.

But Honoka, now living away from home, had come to see if there was any leftovers from breakfast, or eggs to snatch from the Urru nest that were late in being laid.

She yawned, contemplating weather or not to go see her family, go hunting for a snack, going swimming, or taking a nap right where she was, when a strange scent filled her nostrils.

She became alert as she smelt the familiar scent of a khehora, yet a stranger. Criani was not even on Serenia, and it was not papa's smell.
She stood quickly, and bounded towards the scent's origin. It didn't smell bad, but that didn't mean that the owner was bad.

As she moved out of the ring of alarms and traps her mama had put up years ago, the scent became even more powerful. She crept silently, yet quickly through the trees, using her helpful coloring to hide.

Soon she stopped and crouched low, and listened to the sound of ground being tread, and foliage being disturbed. She waited patiently for the source to come along into view.

She was rewarded presently with the sight of a dark khehora that seemed to be happily absorbed with the plants around them. They even seemed to be reluctantly tearing their attention away from some plants and continuing along towards Honoka.

Most curious. To Honoka, a plant was a plant, and weather or not it was poisonous or not.

Honoka deiced to stand up and step forward to revile herself. It was her duty to make sure her family was protected, so she would see if this was a friend or foe.

"Hello!" she called sitting down in the unfamiliar khehora's path, "Are you lost? Most people get lost here. Can I help you?"

Honoka sat, her tail swishing lazily behind her, ready for either a new friend or a new fight.

Keke stopped in his romp, half wary and half curious, at the greeting. “Oh, hello there!” he said. He hadn't realized he was in khehora territory! Fortunately, most Khehora tribes were at least grudgingly willing to accept a teacher in their midst... or at least willing to allow him in their territory without paying for it in blood and lacerations. “Mm, well, I don't know. You see, I intended to be lost.” he explained, “One finds the best things that way. So, I'm not sure if that really counts as lost!” his tail waved amiably as he gave the khehora – brown and green and with such fascinating and... familiar? No that wasn't quite it... Well, either way, she had very nice markings. He was sure that if things came to a scrap, he could handle himself against her. If need be. “And actually, yes! You can!” he smiled toothily at her, “Is there a magescian farm over that way? With Uruu and leklan and animals of that sort?”

Honoka, if she had feathered ears like her brothers, would have perked them up in amusement. Lost on purpose? Oh she had to agree with what this newcomer had to say about getting lost. She found her cave that way!

Honoka had to concentrate on not banging her tail up and down in excitement. She liked this new person.

"I'm Honoka!" she said smiling brightly, "And yes, there is a farm nearby! My Mama owns a farm!" she stopped wagging her tail and eyed the new person. She remembered her mama's stories about how papa ate a sheron when they first met...

"As long as you promise not to eat any of them," Honoka said warily. She sorta smiled more and said, "I will take you to her house, and if you really wanna see a lot of animals, I'll take you to Grandpapa's ranch!"

“Your... Mama?” Keke tilted his head to the side, nearly at a perpendicular angle to the ground, “Well! I'd love to meet her then!” Imagine! A farming Khehora! Not altogether unheard of – they did that up in that funny Settlement place – but in Serenia? Of all places?

He laughed. “Oh my gosh, no! I wouldn't do that! I'm very well fed, thank you, and I'd like to investigate them alive.” he paused for a moment, “Plus, it would be rude, if they're you'r mother's!”

    Oh gosh?! Lots of animals?!

“Ohhhh, could we go there too?! I'd love to see a ranch, an actual ranch!” Keke positively vibrated, “What sort of animals does he have? Leklan, too? Oooo, hastar? Does he have hastar?!” Also, a ranch owning khehora... one was an anomaly, two was a civilization. A farming town of khehora outside the Settlement? How intriguing! “Do lets go!” he whined. He wanted to be off. To see these places!

“You know, where I come from, we don't have farms! My tribe lives in the lower mountains and it's pretty barren. We have to hunt an awful lot!” he said conversationally.

Honoka smiled at her companion. He was fun.

It's though the woods here!" Honoka said happily pointing in the direction of her mother's house. She felt the excitement of her companion and could feel that it was contagious. She was happy to show off her mother's house and her grandparent's farm.

"I'm glad you won't eat them." Honoka said smiling and wagging her tail. "Papa ate one of Mama's sheron when they met!"

"Oh he has lots of hastars." Honoka said taking off at her companion's urging, "Got to have a lot of them to help plow the fields, and to ride around with the sheron... Mama has one, but she took it to her farm today...."

Honoka tilted her head as she thought of hunting all the time. She rarely had to hunt for her own food. She knew how, she could do it, she just usually ate with her family.

"I don't have to hunt as much." she said smiling at Keke, "Hunting is something I do with papa and grandpapa since they like to go out and catch things for special occasions." She looked back towards the area she had to use her magic to deactivate her mother's spells, "I usually eat with mama and papa, but since my baby brothers have been born, I tend to let them be together."

She had had so much time with her mama and papa before, she wouldn't intrude on her parents time with her young siblings. Besides, she liked living by herself. Lots of things she couldn't do at home she could on her own.

She deactivated her mother's protective spells by giving a small burst of magic power through the trees where the runes were.

"This way!" Honoka said as she stood aside to let Keke pass.

As the darker khehora passed, she noticed the markings on him, so familiar! She shook her head and then went back to re setting the alarms around her mama’s house. She trotted ahead of Keke again and led the rest of the way to the house. As it came into view, Honoka felt more relaxed and calm as she always did when she saw it.

It was rather large this house, built with her in mind her Mama had always said. Rooms on the second floor for magesicans, and large spacious rooms on the third for khehoras. It was there that Honoka had her own room with treasures she didn’t want to keep in her cave home.

“Here it is!” Honoka said running ahead and sitting beside the front door. She pointed to the various places around the little farmhouse, “The barn is over there, (We have one leaklan and one sheron there) and behind the house are the glasshouses where mama grows things even in the winter!” Honoka’s tail swished as she reached into the pouch around her neck and located the key to the door, “We can put our things in here for now, and I’ll show you the Urruhouse. Perhaps we can find some eggs the Urru’s laid late this morning!”

Do you want to 'capture' it and then roll?

ATE one of her sheron?! “That must have been an interesting first meeting...” he said, amused, but he knew of... other couples with more interesting mate choice habits. He listended to her explanation of the sheron... now why would a khehora need to ride alongside them... unless she... but no, why would she call a magescian mother? It wasn't impossible to form a bond like that, but... it just seemed unlikely!

He could feel the rush of released magic as the protection spells receeded, and he sniffed at where they had been anchored, intrigued. “Magic!” he exclaimed, “How very smart! Your mother must be an impressive mage!” he said. Or, at least, a halfway decent one! Either way, he was growing ever more excited to meet her!

Growing things even in the winter? Barns? Houses? URUU?! Keke was in anthropological heaven. Delighted, he put his adventuring pack down where she had indicated, wiggling in his excitement. “Ohh, yes, lets go look for eggs!” he said gamely, trotting along behind her. And then, next, he would have to ask her to show him the house – it seemed so unusual.

    But for now, Uruu.
