Ivy walked through the forest with a pen in her hair, a few pencils keeping her hair out of her face and a notebook in her back pocket. She walked over the large roots of a tree taking note of all the birds, animals, and plants that she passed by. This was her third forest that she was going through. She had left home long ago to explore the world and find new things.
It was when she stepped in the middle of the roots of this tree that the ground rumbled and fell from beneath her. She gasped and screamed as she slid down into the hole and then fell down a long row of stairs. When she landed she groaned and opened her eyes. She gasped looking at the cavern she had fallen into, "This is amazing....." She looked at the pool of water and then at all the carvings and pictures in the stone work.

The faint sound of splashing could be heard in the cavern, before a figure emerged from the water, only from the top of his head to his nose. He stared long and hard at the woman in question and said nothing before slowly emerging from the water a little more, ". . . .h-how did you. . .get here?" he asked, his voice echoing in the cavern, "Y-You . . .a-are you. . . .human?" he asked and swam towards the edge of the platform.
He hadn't seen a human in years, or anyone else in centuries. He couldn't remember why, but all he knew was that he had woken up in this cavern and the door could only open from the outside, "w-who are you?"

Ivy looked around hearing the splashes and gasped seeing him. "I... I am.." She said and when she saw more of him her eyes went wide, "What are you?" She asked and pulled out her notebook and a pencil and started to sketch him. "I've never seen anything like you in all my travels.. this is amazing!" She said getting excited sketching more of him.
She then blinked and looked at him, "I'm sorry... I'm Ivy.. I fell through the... roof I guess." She said pointing to the hole of light. "I didn't know you were down here. I hope I didn't ruin your home." She said smiling apologetically.

". . .my . . .my home?" He said quietly and looked around at the cavern for a moment. Was this his home? It was technically where he has lived for years, but it didn't feel like it should be home. He bit his lip and swam further towards the edge so he could meet with Ivy, " . . .y-you didn't ruin anything but. . .but I don't really know what this place is. I've been here for so long but I don't have a-any memory of how I got here."
He pulled himself up onto the wooden platform with a grunt, but there was a chain shackled to his ankle, leading to the edge of the cavern. Someone was intent on not having him leave, ". . .my name is Rai. .it's a pleasure to meet you, Ivy."

Ivy blinked at the chain and looked around, "Well its obvious someone is keeping you here. Question is why." She said more to herself. She put down her notebook and reached into her pocket to find her lock picks. "I've learned a few things living on the road. Mind if I try and get your chain off?" She said grinning a bit.
She walked over to his ankle and fiddled with the lock for the longest time. "Man this seems like its been welded shut. There is barely any traction in the lock." she said looking it over and messing with it again. Finally there was a click and it opened up, "Got it! Yes!"

Rai blinked in confusion when she mentioned the lock being welded and was about to say she didn't have to until she managed to undo the lock on his ankle. The scales underneath were a different color, pale from being under a chain shackle the entire time, but Rai smiled and quickly sat down. He held onto his leg and rubbed the scar along his skin for a moment before looking to Ivy and hugging her tightly, "t-thank you!! Thank you so much!!"
He stood up and jumped into the water to just swim freely in circles before jumping out again, "I'm. . . .you've finally freed me. I-I haven't had that chain off in 3 centuries!" He said and brushed his wet hair back, "it feels amazing."

Ivy blushed when he hugged her and she watched him swim around laughing a bit. When he said 3 centuries she about lost her jaw to the floor, "W-what? 3 centuries?! But you look so young! How is that possible." She moved around him inspecting things after picking up her notebook again. "Are you a demon? A fairy? A water mutation?" She asked starting to sketch and take notes on him.
She kept circling him until her foot slipped and she cried out. Her notebook went flying onto the steps and she fell back into the water. She thrashed around not knowing how to swim.

"M-Miss Ivy!" He shouted and dove in after her. He quickly swam around and got underneath her before lifting her up into his arms, "Just hold onto me, It'll be alright." He said and began to swim carefully towards the platform. He didn't want to make her panic by swimming too fast, "and to answer your question, I'm half water dragon." he nodded and gently put Ivy onto the platform first. When he was sure she wouldn't slip again, Rai climbed back up on the platform.
"I age slower than humans do. . .alot slower. So in my years, I'm about 20 years old." He chuckled and reached to pick up her notebook. He stopped and caught a glimpse of a memory, himself reading in some large library. Rai blinked and shook his head before handing Ivy her book, "are you hurt?"

Ivy coughed a bit when she was above the water. She panted softly and watched him and listened, "A... half water dragon? I didn't know dragons still lived." She said softly taking her notebook. "Thank you... I'm not hurt just a bit dazed. So much information and... I can't really swim so a bit of fear from almost drowning."
She laughed a bit and stood up wringing the water from her clothes and hair. "I should get up to the sun before I catch a cold." She started to walk then stopped and looked at him, "Are you... I mean... do you want to stay here? Or would you like to come with me?" She asked with a smile.

Rai stared for what felt like the longest moment of his life and then looked up towards the opening above. He had never even entertained the thought of leaving the cavern. Never thought he would be able to see the sun again or feel the air. He had given up 2 centuries ago to be honest. But. . .here was a human who was not only unafraid, but offering him freedom. The dragon turned towards his drawings and the clear pool surrounding the platform before he turned to Ivy.
". . .I want to go with you. . .I-I want to be outside." He answered and hurried over to take her hand. While he was excited about finally having freedom, Rai was a little afraid of how much things had changed on the surface.

Ivy smiled and took his hand. She walked up the steps and grabbed ahold of the opening and lifted herself up. She then held out her hand again to help him out. When they were out she looked around a bit, "Alright... I came from that way which means we should head back that way." She said going back over the root and starting for her hotel room.
"If you've been down there for 3 centuries then... a lot has changed... humans have made lots of things, buildings, cars, electronics." She said laughing a bit, "I hope you don't get too overwhelmed with all of it."

"I-I hope I don't either. ." he said, but was staring in awe at the world around him. He had forgotten how green everything was. how. . .beautiful and big the sky was! It was more beautiful than he remembered. Rai bit his lip feeling tears in his eyes, but he gasped when a helicopter flew over head, "w-what is that?!" He shouted and ran to shield Ivy.
Was it some kind of winged monster? It was so loud! He watched the machine fly away towards the edge of the forest, but then blinked seeing the pilot and passenger, "t-there were people in that beast. . . .more of these cars you mentioned? can they all fly?" He asked and looked to Ivy before scratching his cheek.

Ivy gasped and giggled a bit, "Thats a helicopter... it lets people fly over large parts of the land." She said rubbing his back, "You are safe from it. Just don't touch the blades while they are moving." She said and kept walking. "Come on the town isn't that far away." She said taking his hand to make sure he didn't get lost.
When they got to the town she bit her lip realizing that everyone was gasping and whispering about him. She looked over and realized that with his appearance he was sure to get some stares. She quickly got to the hotel and sighed a bit, "Let me see if I can find someplace for you." she said going to her laptop. "A city or town where there are other uh... dragons or stuff." She said typing on the computer.

"Can you find such a place in that. . .device of yours?" He asked, glancing over her computer before looking to the window outside. All these structures, and all the humans! He had never seen so many in one place before. He watched the cars go by and tilted his head hearing pounding music coming from one before sitting in a chair, "everything is so. . .alive. Constantly moving around. . .does it ever get tiring?" He asked.
This was so fascinating! Even the room had things he never knew before. He touched the glass then stood and looked at the television in the hotel room. But, the more he looked around, the more he realized how much had changed. How much wasn't here anymore. He remembered the forest they left stretching out for miles before.
