::10th Division::

Captain:
Vice-Captain:

Purpose: The 10th Division serves as an Advance Guard; sent out on missions to escort and protect, and are often sent to Earth on long-term missions. They also have been used to protect a dying person in their last hours, thus preventing a strong spirit from becoming a Hollow by performing a Soul Burial as soon as they die. When they're not on their guard duties, they do paperwork for most of the other Divisions. Members are often very responsible and fairly logical people due to the high standards that they must meet; and oftentimes hold a strict code of honor, as per their motto.

Description of Division: The 10th Division is a very Japanese looking building, down sliding paper doors and tatami mats. Most of the members of this Division work in separate offices that make up the Division. The outside of the building is surrounded by cherry blossoms, a previous Captain said that the members of the division might as well have something nice to look at while they are breaking their necks to get their work done.

User ImageNara strolled into the 10th Division Headquarters with a renewed sense of vigor, a sense of pride that she had not held before. Where she had only proven herself in the realm of paperwork before now, she had now proven herself in battle, defensing her allies against a seemingly insurmountable threat, and seeing her mission through to the end. She had a renewed sense of importance, and perhaps, uncharactaristically, she was confident in herself, and her honor. She had served diligently in the 10th division for some time, and though she thought herself perhaps a step too bold in her desire, she wanted the chance to prove herself in battle again. Where she had tried her best to lead those strangers against the dog and the priestess, she would lead her division in all of their duties. Honor would be the calling card of the 10th Division once more, not the quill and parchment and wax seals of beaurocracy.

She approached the door of the captain’s office, and knocked, per confidence faltering the closer she got to her goal.

”S-Sir? I’d like a word?”

Ishikawa Airi
Captain of Tenth Division

A tall, toned, tan skinned woman sits behind the desk in the captain's office as the red haired knight enters to speak with her. "Ah, Ellerose, been while since I have seen that name on a report..." After acknowledging her current third seat, Taicho Ishikawa meant he comment to be more under her breath than it was.. even if it were true, "... Can I say I am impressed? Aiding the Realm of the Living with their invasion as soon as the twelfth opened the gates to Earth. You protected a great many souls." It was only then that the crimson eyes left her paper, "I hope you are not surprised. After all, I have an Ellerose and a Sanada in my squad... Captain Commander must be pissed with me... either way... as a precaution I have a member of the Second keeping tabs on you both. I'd hate to lose two such talented Shinigami due to bad blood from the past." She would rest the paper on her desk, before moving her right hand to a draw, "I spose that is not why you are here though." The drawer slowly slides open as she sits back in her seat, "So? Ellerose... enough diversion... what can I do for you this afternoon?"

Nara paused for a moment and took a deep, calming breath before she opened the door. She was more nervous than she had ever been in her life, and as the captain spoke to her, she barely heard the words. Nara felt hot in her armor, and her cheeks flushed red as she had the attention of her superior officer. She had barely spoken two words to her captain in her entire time in the 10th division. Her captain was far too busy, often as buried in paperwork as Nara. It was common practice for officers of the paperwork division to spend long periods of time in isolation, signing and filing paperwork, seeing little of other shinigami. Being in the presence of her captain was a uncomfortable experience, but she gulped and persevered.

"First i would like to report on the battle near Karakura on the mortal plane. I was able to defend most of those who were gathered, but the mortals also showed great power in defending their home world. The threat was beaten back and seems to have passed for now, but the main threat is still left alive, and remains a problem that we may have to deal with later. My primary purpose for being here, however, is concerning my own position within the division. I know that the vice captain position currently stands vacant, and has for some time. After my time in combat on the Mortal Plane, i feel that I am ready for a more leadership-centered role within our division. I wish to uphold the honor of the 190th Division to the best of my ability, and I feel my- our goals can best be accomplished with myself as your vice captain. I know there are other candidates who would likely be as good or even better as me, but I think I am the most dedicated candidate for the position, and I want it more than anyone here." Nara took a deep breath. In her nerves, she had spoken in a long, unbroken sentence, not taking time to breath, and she was nearly made dizzy by the effort. She waited, nervous, for a response.

She had known that a Sanada was in the division as well. She had never had contact with this person, and she didnt know how such a meeting would go. Clan Sanada had many reasons to hate Clan Ellerose. It was the Sanada who had sufferedt he most at her uncle's hands. She wanted one day to undo that wrong, but she considered herself lucky that she had not had to deal with that particular set of sins yet.

Ishikawa Airi
Captain of Tenth Division

A smirk forms across the captain's tanned face as Ellerose spoke of the vacant Vice Captain seat, and her own desires to feel the seat. Most interesting enough was not that the knight came to her for the seat, but that she seemed to recoil at the idea of speaking up her ideals... something that she figured came in the long wake after her uncle's campaign. Still Airi crosses her arms as she continues to listen to that long winded mega sentence. "So... first; Breathe... Do not be afraid of me, Ellerose. I am your Taicho, but I am not here to harm you or your progression in the Division. In fact... I am glad to see you step from that shell of yours and come ask for it." She then reaches into her drawer and pulls out the wooden badge that was the sign of Vice Captain and lays it flat on her desk before Ellerose. "You see, when you left for Earth I decided that you deserved this promotion anyway. Not cause of your name, or the actions of other family members. Just of your own merit, Ellerose. Remember that.. you are more than 'his' niece.. you are your own person."

User ImageNara stood silent, stunned, for a few moments. Time stood still as she stared at the wooden vice captain’s badge without blinking. Without breathing. Tears began to well up in her eyes, but she fought them back. She had to be brave. She had to be strong. With a shaking hand, Nara reached out, and touched the badge lightly, pulling away almost as if she were afraid of it. Like it would burn her for being unworthy. The confidence she had managed to muster to walk in here was all used up now. Nara felt like a little girl, like an imposter who was in way over her head. Nara hesitated, and then she grabbed the badge, grasping it in her hand and staring at it for a few seconds before fastening it to her cloak. Vaguely, in the back of Nara’s mind, the Captain’s words rang, like a reassuring echo from somewhere far away.

”You are more than his niece…”

Nara remembered herself after only a few moments, and her mask of duty was back on her face. She clenched her jaw and clasped a fist to her heart.

”I will serve and protect the 10th Division, The Seretei, and Soul Society and their citizenry with all of my heart, and with my life if needed.” She spoke her oath with a fiery conviction like she had never mustered before. She was more than his niece. She was the Vice Captain of the 10th Division, of her own merit. The division of Honor. An Ellerose.

Laboring under a mountain of paperwork, as usual, Bella contentedly continues her signing, sorting, shuffling, and reshuffling of papers according to division, destination, purpose, and importance. The inbox and outbox had long since been replaced by a more efficient set of crates labeled according to where they needed to go. File box after file box was stacked in the office, a testament to her work ethic. Decoration wise her office is spare, if not practically spartan. The only personal item she has up are her curtains decorated in cute pink fluffy clouds, rainbows, and butterflies. This is in contrast to her outward expression of stern concentration and pursed lips - none of which even come close to indicate that she is actually in a good mood for the time being.

Having been out of the Division for work, the young Sanada came in holding another stack of folders and papers. She nudges into the captain's office without looking, "I gathered the reports of the Ryoka attacks from the other Divisions as asked, Ishikawa Taicho." Her brown eyes look to the other in the room... it was an Ellerose. Nara in fact... and she now wore a the wooden badge indicating she was now the Vice Captain. 'Cause the last time an Ellerose had a position of power it went so well.' Yuki would think to herself as she feigned a slight smile or the sake of politeness. She would then slide past the red haired woman to set the reports on the desk on their captain. "Forgive my interruption. I shall return to my duties." She then gave the both a bow before exiting the office. Instead of heading to her desk to do more of the backlogged paperwork... she stood there catching her breath and feeling as if she had not breathed the whole time in the office. Her mind played a flash back of her father in hyper focus, just not a good one, but one of the man strong up right before being pierced through by a massive phoenix. Her last image of him... her last time with him... was at his execution and yet he just smiled to her and her sister. Why? 'Sakura... where did you go...' She would think again as her body steadily quivered and shook. Yuki struggling to keep her composure for the moment. Soon it passed.. she was still tense, but she could breath and she had stopped quaking in her own boots. The young lady straightened her self up and began her way to the door, unless stopped by someone.

User ImageNara stood silent for a few moments, staring at the badge in her hand. She felt overwhelmed, and tears began to well up in her eyes again, but she held them back, taking a deep breath and pinning the badge to her shoulder. The door opened and another shinigami entered the Captain’s office.

Nara immediately recognized her as a Sanada and felt a lump rise up in her throat. She had intentionally avoided everyone from Clan Sanada since she had joined the ranks of the Shinigami. She knew that the wound was still fresh, even after all of these years. She knew that now was different. She had to have a personal working relationship with everyone in her division, including those who might not want one. She would not try and force a firnedship on the youngest, of course, but it was important that they were at least capable of working together.

”Sanada…. A word?” Nara broke the silence as delicately as she knew how. Aarendor had hurt both of their clans, and that wound would have to be addressed before it could heal. Nara would try to lead the girl into the garden, where they could speak in private.

”I feel it is time we addressed the hollow in the room.” Nara would say as soon as they were alone.

”There is a history between our clans. A dark, horrible history. I want you to know that I am not like my uncle. My uncle was a power-hungry monster, who hurt everyone he came to know. I want you to know that it is my sworn duty to repair the damage done by my uncle, if I can. I can understand if you do not trust me. I wouldn’t trust me. But…” Nara knelt to one knee.

”I swear on my honor as a Shinigami that I will not be the same as my uncle. I will do whatever I can to fix the damage he caused, and that includes the damage to your clan, who were wronged the most by him. My uncle’s history weighs heavy on my heart. I will lay down my zanpaku-tou and go back to the Northern Rukongai before I will allow my family to suffer such shame again.”

Fresh tears welled up in Nara’s eyes, unbidden. She was embarrassed at her apparent weakness, and her cheeks flushed hot and red. ”I am sorry for the damage my family has caused to yours.”

Even workaholics like Bella need a break sometimes and besides her teapot was plumb dry. She sighs and gets up. "Might as well stretch my legs a bit," she mutters to herself and walks out into the garden in the courtyard. There is her cousin talking with a subordinate. A subordinate who actually outranks her by a single level. A thread of jealousy pokes its ugly head and she simply shoves it back down. 'Aristocrats do not let their emotions get the better of them,' she chides herself. Wait, what are they talking about? Bella quirks an eyebrow. "That was practically a life time ago and certainly nothing that you did, cousin," she says. "Why would you need to appologize for what your uncle did? Didn't they execute him for something anyway?" Bella was hardly ignorant of what happened, but does not like to dredge up the past. Not when they both have crafted their present so carefully. She did not like to see her confident cousin degrade herself by kneeling before a lesser, much less a member of a disgraced noble family. She looks at Yuki and says, "I put the finished paper work on your desk, ma'am," she says with an emphasis that barely hides her jealousy, giving a sense that she is irked about something.

Sanada Yuki
[ HP: 250 | SE: 115 | Clarity: 45 ]

Just as soon as the young Sanada thought she had regained her composure, Nara came to her asking for a moment of her time. It was not like she could deny her Vice Captain's request, and almost defeatedly follows the red haired Shinigami into the division gardens. Her arms crossed over chest as her Vice Captain spoke of needing to address the the Hollow in the room. 'As if it were so easy.' Was the only thought that crossed her mind as she tried to prepare herself mentally for whatever an Ellerose would have to say to her... expecting the worse like removing her from duty, or arresting her due to her blood. What she got was quite different as Nara rehashed that she knew there was bad blood between the clans. 'To say the least...' Was all she would chime in before her red haired Vice Captain said that she was not her uncle.. referring to him as a monster. Nara saying she wished to bare the weight of the sinner's name to redeem the family that to must wear it. As the knightly Shinigami took a knee, Yuki's heart skipped a beat then wildly pattered within her chest. Perhaps she was different.. and though nothing romantic crossed the knight's lips her face burned as if she was just being confessed to. 'She is so determined, and seems rather sweet... and she is pretty cute to boot.' Though before the Sanada could even think of uttering a response another voice joined them.. one that was less than sweet. Her fist balled up as she spoke that the crusade against her family was a lifetime ago, and that it had nothing to do with the Vice Captain. Yuki picking up on her being referred to as cousin by the brash woman. 'So another Ellerose...' She would think to herself as her soft gaze turned into a cold hard stare. Bella would then say that she did not have to apologize for the actions of the man that put Yuki's father to death... after all he was executed for something. 'For the rampant baseless arrests, cold hearted slaying, and unwarranted execution of my father!' She damned the woman mentally, but she took it cause apparently Bella was an Ellerose... or closely related. Without a sound, or motion to either of them, Yuki started back in as if the conversation with Nara did not happen sheer moments before. 'That is right.. they are just Ellerose. Untrustworthy, filthy beasts that care for little more than power.' It was more a mental reminder than anything else. Her heart calmed drastically almost as if she was not fawning over Nara moments ago. The final nail in the coffin though... Bella snidely telling her that she had left paperwork on her desk, followed by the disrespectful Ma'am laced with venom and jealousy. She couldn't stand it anymore! "SHUT UP!!!" Yuki draws back and swings her right arm.. she aimed to deck the woman in the face with a powerful, swift jab. A solid SMACK was heard before it was revealed she had hit the wall just behind Bella. Her arm not quite resting on her shoulder crackled with spiritual energy as she stared directly into her eyes. "One... More... Word... Say one more word to me Ellerose and I will have you being the personal aid to that one guy in accounting... the womanizer... wrote up for sexual harassment last year. You know the one so I won't say his name." Yuki moved her arm and gave her hand a slight shake as the hit made it feel a bit numb due to the pain. "I will do my duty for this division despite either of you. Got it?!" As Yuki walks back in she slams the door to the division to cut off either of them before they can get a word in to her. Upon making it to her desk, the young Sanada sits down and opens her desk drawer.. she kept her cellphone in there though on silent. She takes the time to reply to her grandfather's text asking if she was okay due to the Ryoka attacks. A soft smile returning to her face as she pulled up Yusis's text log. 'You okay, Yui?' - 'Grandpa is really freaked about those attacks, but I let him know I am okay.' She sat back in her chair for a moment before typing away once more. 'Our 4th Seat, Bella Donna, is actually an Ellerose! Go figure her name is Deadly Nightshade...' - "Oh my Goddess! I can not explain enough how much of a Mega b***h Bella is...' - 'Anyway, I have to return to work... hopefully we will be able to talk more at home.' Yuki would then close and return it to her desk.

User ImageNara was getting through to Yuki, she could sense it. She saw the flash of anger in the girl’s face turn to something different she didn’t recognize. Her felt like her apology was doing much to heal the wounds between the two families. There had been no contact between the two clans since Aarendor’s death. That this apology was being so well-taken was something that surprised Nara. She felt somewhat ashamed, as if she deserved for the girl to strike her, or yell at her, but the girl only watched on in stunned silence.

The moment was ruined with the appearance of Nara’s cousin, Bella Donna, who spoke unskillfully, undoing all of the work Nara had just done to heal the rift between the two clans. Nara watched in stunned horror as the events unfolded before her, The look of shocked almost-forgiveness turning to one of pure rage, rage that, Nara knew, had been building in this girl for many years, just asa her shame had been. Aarendor had truly hurt everyone he touched.

Nara’s horror grew as Yuki swung on her inferior officer. There was a flash of fear, and then a look of shocked relief as the punch made contact with the wall instead, sending small cracks webbing through the stucco surface. Nara had not moved from her spot, too stunned to do anything. Her third seat shared a few harsh words towards clan Ellerose, and stormed off, slamming the door and returning inside to her office.

Nara was shocked, and did not speak for several moments. She flushed with frustration, as she turned to her cousin, doing her best to steel her words, and not to react rashly out of anger. That was not the way a knight conducted themselves.

”Sometimes, Cousin, we have to be mindful of the things we say. My uncle is responsible for the death of her father. Yuki is of Clan Sanada, and your superior. It is untowards for you to speak so freely in front of her, especially in a way that would offend her so deeply. Now I will have to apologize to Yuki for your words, taking time away from my own duties. You or I can never understand the damage Clan Ellerose has caused to Clan Sanada, emotionally, financially, spiritually. Uncle Aarendor nearly wiped them from Soul Society. Please, in the future, try and remember the history of our family before you speak. It is up to us, the Ellerose that are left, to return our family name to one associated with honor, and not mindless slaying and cruel arrogance.” Nara sighed after her long diatribe, taking a deep breath.

”You are very dear to me, cousin.” She said, clasping a hand on her cousin’s shoulder for a few moments, looking her in the eye. ”Thank you for your hard work.”

At this, Nara walked away, in the same direction Yuki had gone. She would have to spend her working hours smoothing over feathers. At least it was a break from paperwork.

Bella grits her teeth and bristles at being called an Ellarose. Even if it were technically true, she wanted to distance herself from that jackass uncle. Even to the point of acting as if he wasn't related by blood. Being called out like this made her hackles rise. However, she didn't have long to reflect on that because Yuki had slammed her fist into the wall behind her, cracking the plank. She stands there stunned and a blush glosses her cheeks. Mentally, a nosebleed forms as she feels rather twitterpated at the idea of somebody showing so much brute force. 'So forceful~ ...' she thinks but has little time to reflect on this before Yuki storms off, and Nara lovingly chides her. Her blush turns more genuine and she looks down. Nara is the only person she can let her guard down around. "Nara ... I ..." but Nara has already stormed off. 'I'm sorry ...' With that, she leaves to clear her mind. Perhaps to buy more tea. Perhaps to go watch those hot members of Division Eleven act like brutes.

User ImageAs Nara approached Yuki;s door, her heartbeat began to quicken. She assumed that it was due to the history between their families. However, she worked through it, and pressed on, her armor clinking slightly with every step. When she approached the door, she paused, taking a few deep breaths. The first meeting between her and her subordinate had not gone well. Bella had seen to that, as she often did. Nara hoped that another meeting would help to smooth things over, rather than make things worse. Nara hoped so, at least.

Nara knocked twice, loud enough so it could be heard, but no so loud as to portray a sense of authority. ”Sanada? I’d like to apologize...” Nara called out from the other side of the wooden door. She did not know how a Sanada would react to her, especially now that Cousin Bella had made her intoduction, but she had to try to smooth things over, if only for the sake of the division. Nara hoped that Yuki would even answer the door.

Having just placed her cellular phone up, Yuki hears a knock on her office door, before hearing the faint voice of her newly appointed Vice Captain through it stating they needed to talk. The young Sanada would lay back in her chair and sign as she seemed to not be able to get a moment of respite from the combined forces of the Ellerose pair. Reluctantly she gets up and swings the door open, "Menos on Earth.. If you wanna talk then do it on the way, Vice Captain-dono." Yuki was proud of herself for finding a reason to blow off Nara, and she could only hope to ditch the division before she ran into Bella again... cause her temper had not fully cooled from just moments ago. Honestly, she hoped her Vice Captain would not follow her, but if she did... it was on her. The third seat taking her leave of the division, after nudging past Nara. "You coming?" She asks before leaving the division and heading towards the Senkaimon.
