Fighting youma with magic that didn’t work, and caused a shock of pain every time he tried, was probably not the best situation he’d found himself in. It wasn’t even a particularly strong youma, but still troublesome and could cause significant damage if left alone. Valhalla let out a yelp of pain and clutched a hand pointlessly to his chest as he stumbled away from the youma. He was not physically injured, but his chest still hurt and it made him feel dizzy and out of focus. Part of him knew he was a fool for going out on his own, but the other part wanted to prove himself capable of being a knight, regardless of what happened just a couple weeks ago. Eden was gaining a little bit more confidence in herself... not a lot, but enough that she was willing to go out on her own. It was a nice warm summer evening, and she had been training with Glitnir the day before, so she was feeling pretty good about patrolling. She was learning to dodge, and that was always a good thing. She was a tiny girl, and she honestly wasn't built for fighting, all stick thin limbs and trembling hands, and no magic to speak of. But her hands which had been calloused only from gardening were now a little rougher with training, and so she went out for patrol without even feeling like she needed to get a hold of Glitnir to come with her... not that the thought hadn't occurred to her anyway, but that's just because she enjoyed spending time with the tall charming squire.
So she gripped her lantern, its happy little candle flickering away, and walked down a path she had staked out as sort of her usual route. she turned down a little path that lead from a row of sweet little houses to a children park, with brightly colored jungle gyms and sea-saws rendered gray by the moonlight. This area was her favorite, because she always felt like it was such a happy place.... but this evening it was creepy, still and ominous. Her steps faltered as she heard a gasp of pain, and she saw a knight stumble out from behind the cover of a bigtoy.
Eden gasped, he looked like he was in pain, but she couldn't see anything wrong with him. She ran over " Are you okay! ' She was practically puffing up into mama mode. She had a deeply ingrained need to take care of people, especially people she saw in pain. As she got closer she saw the youma whom he had been fighting and gave a little "eep! " as it looked curiously between the two of them. It looked like some sort of cartoon gone wrong, like a short but bipedal dog... maybe... or a possum? Wait... did it have wings? It opened its mouth and gave a whining growl, opening its mouth larger then it should have been able to, as if it had a snakes jaw.
" well... oh my... " Eden said looking at the bizzare youma.

The appearance of the other knight startled him, not because she was unwelcome, but because he didn’t sense her. He didn’t think he would ever get used to the strange sensation of not being able to feel what was going on around him, but as long as he kept an eye on the youma, hopefully they’d be able to get out of this.
“I’m okay,” he forced out when she approached, looking at her with a mix of relief and concern. He didn’t want her in danger, and it was his own fault for being out on his own. “It looks strange, but I don’t think it’s very strong…” he threw out there, knowing how weird that statement probably sounded. She, at least, would be able to sense if it was strong or not… and he was just hoping he guessed right in that it wasn’t.
“My magic isn’t working…” he admitted as well, knowing he needed help in defeating it, “But maybe we can team up?”
