Spending most of his time at his parents’ home was fine, but it was easy to get overwhelmed with everything that was happening. He couldn’t remember anything for the past four years of his life, and he couldn’t help but feel as though he was being treated as though he were fragile, or that he would suddenly collapse. Now… he was in pain quite often. A stinging in his chest that became overwhelming and kept him awake at night, but there was nothing that could be done about that. So, in order to try and get back to being normal, Chris found himself sitting outside a cafe; one of the cafes he often frequented back when he was in college. It was surreal to think that he’d already graduated.

Sometimes it was nice just to wander about the city and forget things. It was almost like an escape. A good escape, for once. He had spent the day at a few of his favorite stores, picking up some new boys to read and recipes for candies and various other treats. It wasn't often he treated himself, so when he did, Rene usually did it all at once. He had been on his way to pick up a few small scale models to put together with his sister, when he passed by a cafe and someone caught his eye.
"Chris?" He called out to his friend. "Hey, what are you doing here? Is Paris with you?"

At first, Chris didn’t realize someone was speaking to him. Chris was a popular name, after all. The other young man could have easily been addressing anyone else named Chris. But when the name Paris came up, he turned to see who’d spoken, staring at a young man with freckles.
He didn’t look at all familiar.
“No, she’s not, I’m sorry,” he said, still looking curiously at the other, trying to will himself to remember something about him. Did they know each other? Were they friends? Was he just friends with Paris? Chris hoped he didn’t look too stupid as he smiled almost blankly at the other. He looked like he knew him… which made things even more awkward.

"It's okay. It's weird to see you guys not together sometimes." Rene laughed. "I guess I'm just to use to it at this point." He vaguely wondered where the young woman was, but brushed the thought off.
Chris kept staring at him and Rene tried not to shuffle awkwardly. "W-what is it? Is there something on my face?" Rene looked down at his clothes, curious if he'd gotten something on them and just didn't notice it. "What's up. You're staring at me kinda funny. Are you okay???"

Oh, so he was doing something weird, wasn’t he? It appeared as though he had known this person before the incident. This young man knew Paris, and apparently knew him.
“No… I’m sorry,” he said quickly when he realized that he was upsetting the other. “I was… unconscious for a little while and have been having trouble remembering some things. We’ve met before? I’m sorry…”
It was a little awkward, not knowing how close he was to this person, and he was afraid of hurting his feelings if they were close friends. It was pretty embarrassing not knowing who someone was, and he wished Paris was there to help him.

Wait... What?
"Chris... It's me. Rene. You know... Alexandria?" He said, his voice dropping a bit. "You know me. You're like, one of my best friends man." What in the world was he talking about. Rene shifted awkwardly, shoving his hands back in his pockets, despite the bags that hung around her wrist. "Come on man..."
Though the more Rene stared at Chris, the more he realized that this was no joke. Chris wouldn't pull something like this on him. "Um.. Uh... Wha-what happened? Were you attacked or something? What about Paris is she okay?" Then Rene sucked in a breathe, regretting the words as soon as they left his mouth. "Sorry, ah. I shouldn't be asking you this stuff I guess. You probably don't want talk about it.

The name Rene didn’t ring any bells, but Alexandria did, and Chris frowned in concern, at both the situation and remembering the things that he knew Alexandria had gone through.
“Would you like to sit down?” he offered, scooting his own chair over a little so that Rene would have room to sit if he choose. “I’m sorry… it’s a bit difficult to explain.” Especially in public. “Paris is fine… And it’s just my memory from what I can tell… The doctors said it could come back any time,” he promised, although he didn’t bother to mention that it might not come back at all.
