Corey Boone, the man beneath the Bimini robes, was not a very generous man. Not when it came to monetary means at least. While he was more than happy to share himself or anything that was free when it came down to it he was extremely cheap and a little bit of a mooch. Or a lot a bit of a mooch, if he was being honest. So the fact that he was walking towards the library tonight, with a six pack of beer bottles that he did not intend to down all on his own, it was out of the norm to say the least.

Corey was used to being surrounded by children, in most cases he actually preferred it, finding far more in common with them than with people his own age. But every once in a while a guy was allowed to have an existential crisis, especially a guy in his 30's. A lonely guy. Constantly surrounded by children and people but always destined to go home alone to his shitty little apartment. His strike out with Odainsaker had hit him harder than the usual rejection by a girl. Especially when he was later considering the fact that due to the magic of henshining he might have been lusting and drooling all night over someone that wasn't even legal.

He just wanted to be around someone. And adult someone. And when he looked at his ring his mind had shifted to someone from the past. It had been forever since he'd seen Camelot. And that seemed wrong.. considering how he'd pledged to help him and what not.

It was all the excuse he needed to seek out the company. And as Bimini drew nearer to the library (he was only a couple blocks away now), he pulled out of a piece of paper, jotting a quick note before pinging it off to Camelot.

from Bimini
Camelot,

Can you come out and play?

There might be beer involved if you get here before I finish it all.

Don't make Camelot cry with the promise of beer, then take it away.

Camelot was standing on the roof of the library, as he always was just before he started, or just after he finished, his patrol. He was still feeling a bit tired, but he imagined that was more from being on the go so much recently, and less because of any lingering ill effects of all his Wonder travel and purification antics of late.

He was just... tired. Maybe he needed a break. Not that Knights got those.

Generally, he was not bitter about stuff like that. He was a very dutiful and loyal servant of the White Moon, and had dedicated his life to protecting and serving. He was happy, honored, to do it. He was still human, though, and sometimes thoughts of vacations and real rests crept in.

He was surprised when he got a note, looking at it and grinning when he read it. How long had it been since he last saw Bimini? And how long had it been since he last had a beer? Hopefully he had not already finished them. Camelot leaped off the roof without a moment's hesitation, maybe a bit too enthusiastic but he could not help himself. He landed heavily, mostly due to his armor and thick cape weighing him down, but harmlessly and was quickly straightened up and walking.

It did not take him long to track down Bimini's power signature, feeling the knight nearby.

"Now there's a sight for sore eyes," he said, though it was not clear if he was talking about Bimini or the beer. Maybe both?

He had recalled, from conversations in the past, the library being a place that Camelot could often be found, however the squire still felt lucky when he heard the familiar voice approaching. "Heyy, Camelot!" He waved with his free hand, beers lightly clanking together from the motion. Luckily enough all six still remained. Teasing note aside Bimini hadn't really planned on opening them until the other knight arrived, or until he came to the conclusion that the other man wasn't coming at all.

Though the voice had been the same, the man that approached was not as visually familiar as he remembered. Sure Bimini had heard something here or there about Camelot's ascension, but hearing and seeing was a much different thing. To actually feel the heavy aura and to see the uniform was different. He truly did look like a knight of old, someone truly befitting of the title. Not like his silly robes.

"Someone has been busy." He grinned. "Still not too big and bad to hang out with the little guys though?" He joked, holding out the six pack in front of him. Of course he knew better, even if Camelot was quite literally 'better' than Bimini in every way when it came to knighthood, the elder knight was not the sort of person that act 'better than thou'.

Camelot looked puzzled, then looked down at his armor. He realized that it had been so long since he last saw Bimini, the other had not actually seen him as a Royal Knight. That was a shame, but then again, everyone got caught up in the war and with their own lives: it was very hard, sometimes, to keep up.

Camelot wanted to make a better effort, though.

"Little guys? I'm more than happy to hang out with anyone who has alcohol with them," he said, laughing despite himself. yes, he was a figure of authority, and yes, he was supposed to be responsible. He carried his title proudly and did what he could to be a good role model... but sometimes, he was glad for a bit of slacking off.

Drinking used to be one of his favorite past times, and though he did not do it much any more, that did not mean he didn't want to. It was okay to just relax sometimes, right?

"How have you been, Bimini? You look well!" He offered the other his hand in greeting, smiling widely.

Between jobs, responsibilities, and adult lives it was extremely easy for time to pass by without really realizing how quickly it happened. Days became weeks and weeks became months in the blink of an eye. Camelot had a lot on his plate, more than Bimini even knew, but the squire didn't blame the elder knight at all. If anything, it was Bimini's fault. He could have sent a message along at anytime and it wasn't like he was out constantly pounding the streets at night.

But he wasn't here to think about or discuss faults, or dwell on the 'could have beens' and when Camelot joked about the beer Bimini smirked widely, reaching down to free a beer from his six pack before tossing it. Surely with their magical reflexes the Earth knight would have no issues grabbing it.

After grasping Camelot's hand back in polite greeting Bimini fished for his own beer, popping the top and sliding the bottle cap back into the cardboard container. He didn't delay to take a mild swig of it. When he was drinking on his own, and not being treated Corey tended to shy towards the cheapest of cheap, which didn't always 'taste' the greatest. But he'd splurged today, and there was something ever pleasant about a beer that would not only get him drunk but also tasted semi-pleasant. "Why are so many of them too young to drink?" He joked whistfully. It was sad really, but a sad truth.

"I'm pretty good though. Arcade is doing great. I've done some minor expansions and renovations, waiting for the kick up in business once all the college kids get settled in again. But business has remained pretty solid."

"Still getting my a** handed to me left and right out here in the streets." There wasn't any bitterness in the comment, it was a simple statement of truth followed by a mild snort. It was his lot in life he had decided.

I've got a handful of other battles going, so if this doesn't naturally lead to any 'training' and it turns out being a reg that's alright. I'm good with either!

Sure thing! We'll see how they go hahah.

Camelot did, indeed, catch the beer. He could not just thank his powered up reflexes, though he was sure that helped keep him from looking like an idiot. It was also the fact that there was a beer in peril, and he could not allow it to fall.

It would be a shameful waste.

Camelot smiled and tipped his beer in thanks, then opened it on one of the metal plates of his armor. He had never tried that before, and was absolutely delighted that it worked, though he tried not to look like he thought he had just done the coolest thing ever. Even though, inside, that was exactly what it felt like. So he could still get youthfully excited about silly things.

No one was perfect.

Taking a sip of the beer was like visiting an oasis after a long stay in the desert. He noted, again, he had not taken much time to drink recently and was surprised by how good a simple pleasure like beer could be. Maybe he should offer the idea of date nights, or 'stay home and drink and relax nights' to his wife.

"I'm glad to hear the arcade is doing well! I'd go and offer some business but I think I would, uh. Mostly do the opposite, and scare all the kids away. Plus, I only have one video game and it's taken me a very long time to learn how to play it."

But that pink DS with Pokemon in it certainly did get a lot of use, during the downtime at the library. He took a much healthier drink from his beer before he continued, tilting his head.

"By the Negaverse, you mean? If you need help training, or a patrol partner, or if you're ever in any kind of trouble you can always send for me. I don't like the idea of you getting hurt."

Camelot hardly needed to worry about hiding his delight, because Bimini, as endlessly youthful as his wonder, had noticed and was as obviously impressed by the grand feat of beer opening awesomeness. Like seriously. Why couldn't he be a cool Earth knight!? Why was he rainbows, sparkles, and ribbons? Shaking his head with an amused laugh the squire took another drink from his bottle.

When Camelot commented on the arcade and joked about his own age it only cemented Bimini's reasoning for hunting out the Earth knight on this evening. He was someone who understood the struggle! "I appreciate the sentiment." He grinned. Tony would have likely been as out of place in the arcade as Corey was in the library.

The genuine concern and the offer that followed it brought a wide shrug from the Cosmos squire, followed by a mild wiggle of his bottle, before tipping it back again, free hand reaching to push back some unruly strands of his thick hair. "Yeah the Negaverse.. but it's alright. I've gotten pretty good at running away and escaping. Unlike some of those kids who think they're invincible I'm well aware that this is one of those 'one life only - no continues' situations."

"The whole fighting thing is a bummer, I wish we really didn't have to do it." The idea that he was beating up some poor kid was terrible, but for Bimini he didn't have to worry too much about that, considering that for the most part the kids were beating up on him. "And man they've gotten mouthy lately too. I had some kid hassling me over my choice of tunes. Sweet Child o Mine is a classic." Surely Camelot knew and would understand his horror. "Kids these days." Bimini huffed mildly.

Bimini was an honest sort, sometimes too honest and open for his own good, so as he let his heart spill out he could only hope he wasn't bothering Camelot. Bad company was one of the few things that could ruin a good beer.

"Anyway." He interjected finally, finishing off his first bottle far quicker then he probably should have. "What about you. How have things been going for you? You have any other fancy new moves?" He was refering pretty obvious to the bottle opening from earlier.

Camelot chuckled and shook his head, despite himself. He knew when it was a good time to tease himself, and usually his age was the best subject for it. He was a fish out of water a lot of the time, especially around all the young senshi and all the new things 'kids today' were into.

At least he had managed to make friends with his son, who could now share with him some of the video games he was into... and at least give Camelot some idea of the things he was into. Not that he would ever be invited to join in, as Nate would never be seen hanging out with his dad outside of the house, or on patrol.

They were still working on their relationship, though at least now Nathan was calling him Dad. Things were pretty okay, on that front.

He nodded his head along with Bimini's thoughts on the war, and fighting in general. If Camelot could avoid it, he certainly tried. He felt being annoyingly long winded was still a better choice than punching someone in the face. He didn't notice how quickly he got through his beer before the bottle was empty, glancing at it in surprise.

"Ah, well. They're all so young, and there are more and more new faces awakening. I feel like a... a teacher, sometimes, or a ah. Babysitter. Sheep herder. It's hard to keep up, sometimes. Being a Royal Knight certainly helps. Ah. That's pretty new. Well, no, I suppose it's not. I've also got a daughter at home now, she's... god. Two? God, I'm feeling very old tonight."

He laughed, though, grinning at Bimini. He was glad for the company, and the chance to whine about being an old fart.

Babysitter! That was a pretty good description of it. Or well.. a good description of what he imagined Camelot went through. But Bimini... he was that hopeless babysitter that was freaking out trying to call the parents over every little worry and detail while the children took care of themselves and him. Yeah that seemed about right. The thought, humorous as it was brought an amused smile to his face. He had never been a jock, rich, or super handsome - he had nothing more then his jovial nature and inherent friendliness to manuever through his school days. So he was used to self depricating jokes and they rarely weighed on him at all.

Bimini wasn't drinking as quickly, it was harder to do so when he had such a habit of rambling and talking. But he had noticed Camelot's empty bottle when the elder knight looked down at at, and he extended the little box full of beer out with a wiggle.

"A baby?" It might not have been possible for his face to light up more. Corey had thought about kids in the past and how cool it would be to have a little one of his own. Of course he thought about them in the most glorified of ways, all the good stuff somehow forgetting you know.. the sheer expense and the long nights and the never ending worry. All the other joys of parenthood.

Not that he, you know, had a woman or anything to make that baby with. So he didn't really have to think about it other than imagining how cool it would be. "Congratulations, I bet she's the cutest little thing."

Taking a drink from his bottle he peered up at the night sky thoughtfully taking in Camelot's words. "They really are sprouting like weeds. Some of them are really something too. I met a little squire the other day. She's like.. 14 or 15 and I bet she earns her cape before I do."

Camelot knew he was more an overprotective adoptive parent than a babysitter, whether his senshi and knights wanted him to be or not. He tended to adopt them, after all, and spent a lot of his time fretting and worrying about them, and doing all he could to offer them the care and protection he felt they needed.

Feeling a bit sheepish, but not too shy, he took another beer with an appreciative nod, opening it the same way he had before.

thinking about his daughter made him pause, though, and he smiled warmly, getting lost a little in his love for the little life he and his wife had managed to make. Those two ladies were the most important things in his life, his treasures, and they filled him with happiness and purpose.

"She's my little angel. Takes after her mother, mostly, I think. That's lucky for her, probably." He laughed, then shook his head, having the scary image of her growing up a bit and awakening as a senshi. Theoretically, it was not that far away from a possibility.

Oh god.

"Oh, it's no contest to become a Knight," he said, wrinkling his nose, "and I know you have the ability and potential to get there. Regardless, you are a fine young man with more talent than I think you realize. You're an important part of this whole thing, you know. You have insight and experience to offer, yes, but you'll find your unique role soon enough. I get the feeling that there's something important waiting for you, and you'll rise to meet it." He looked thoughtful, glancing up toward the stars for a moment.

Bimini grinned a little more as Camelot smiled (obviously thinking of his daughter) living vicariously through the other knight's joy. It made him wonder just what she looked like. And then, of course, what a kid of his would look like - and how ridiculously precious he or she would be like dressed up in all the finest geekery.

It was Bimini's turn to look sheepish as Camelot imparted his insight and faith in the Cosmos squire. They were just words really, but it was strange how much they meant and how very appreciated they were. There was a strange sensation of relief - it was nice to hear after a couple of particularly hard nights. Offering Camelot a thankful smile, Bimini finished off his own first beer, depositing the empty bottle into his little case before fishing out a new one. "I hope so. Just one of those late bloomers." He joked with a wink, though after a moment his grin shifted to something slightly more serious and thoughtful. "I feel like I'm finally getting a hang of my magic at least. I just need to be able to get to people who need it and use it on them instead of this trying to fight stuff."

"Maybe I just need to start spreading my name around. Business cards, bathroom stalls." He joked with a laugh. "For a good heal, call."

"Believe me, I know all about being late to the game."

When it came down to it, Camelot was still pretty sure he was the oldest person to be awakened as a knight. If he did not still hold the record, as it was a few years since his actual awakening now, he was certainly still among the oldest fighting soldiers out there. Everyone else seemed to be teenagers and young adults, and he had always felt like a late starter.

Like one of those guys who go back to school and then start competing for the same jobs as twenty year olds. Awkward.

"Your magic heals, right?" It had been a while since they last had any shop talk, so Camelot wanted to make sure he was remembering things right, "That's a very useful skill to have. I am doing what I can to gather the Knights of Destiny again, and if you'd like to still be on the team, that might be a useful way of staying in contact with other knights, and being available to them if they need aid? At the very least, I would let them know who can help in a pinch."

"It doesn't actually heal.." He said, sounding almost apologetic about it. It was a common misconception and in the past a person or two had actually hurt themselves after the fact for not understanding how it worked. "It's just a really really good painkiller. Like popping some vicoden."

"You know.. so someone has the ability to finish the fight or so they can focus on getting someplace to deal with their wounds without being knocked out by the pain or anything. But the wound is still there soo.." He shrugged a little.

"Maybe it'll get a little bit better eventually. I really would like to help."

The mention of the Knights of Destiny brought a vigorous nod from the Cosmos squire, who had never considered himself not a part of the team, even if it hadn't been particularly active. "You know I'm yours if you want me Camelot. I made an oath and everything." And he had long ago, he still remembered it like some ridiculous quest delivered to him via RPG. "Just give me a call and I'll do my best. Oh! And if you ever like.. want to have a training exercise for the group in the laser tag arena I can tooootally set that up."

Lithiasaur
He'll be transcending shortly too (with his knight upgrade) - so once that happens he will be able to do some energy healing as well.

"Well. I can think of more than a few times when a really strong painkiller would have been helpful in battle," Camelot said thoughtfully. A bad memory came back, of a battle he had with Painite. She always had a habit of leaving him with pretty terrible injuries to deal with after all was said and done.

Particularly before he had become a Royal Knight, but even after she had managed to get the better of him once. That healing period had been rough. Pain killers of the magic variety would have been particularly appreciated.

"Though your magic doesn't heal injuries directly, it does still sound like it would be very useful to have. I know who to call now, at least, when I get myself mangled. I wouldn't discredit how important it is to be able to keep fighting, keep standing, even when injured."

He chuckled, patting the Squire heartily on the shoulder. Maybe he was feeling a bit better, with two beers in him, or maybe it was just the company itself having a positive impact on him. Either way, he felt it was all too easy to laugh and smile, and that was something he needed.

"I'll actually be organizing a trip to my Wonder, to Camelot, for some training soon. Hopefully at least a few faces show up, and we'll be able to help each other out."

It was amazing what a few words could do. How the simple confirmation that his power was and could be useful could perk up the Cosmos squire. It certainly didn't lift every weight or worry or gripe of the shoulders of the knight, but it made a definite difference, a tiny boost to his confidence. "You call and I'll come running." He confirmed, his grin still large and goofy as he basked in the glow of maybe I'm not as sucky as I thought I was.

As the topic turned to Camelot's wonder, and his plans for a trip there at some point, Bimini perked with interest. "Ahh... when you do I'd love to come if you've got the room for me. Whether it's to actually train or even just to play nurse in case the training gets a little intense." He'd love to see the wonder that belonged to a guy like Camelot, what had been there? He highly doubted it was anything like Bimini - a magical space day spa. Not to mention the promise of meeting and chilling with more people. You could never have too many friends.
