Kalteth commented as she walked next to her rider. Normally, they were in synch, perfectly matched in energy level and vibrancy, but today only Kalteth was cheerful and prancing along the roads of the Weyr.

“Not in a long while, Kally.”

Wingrider Sh'en walked more tentatively, warily. He knew what he was walking into, and it wasn't going to be pretty. But it had to happen, and it was going to happen, so he just had to suck it up and get it done. He had to apologize.

Sh'en didn't blame her. What he'd done wasn't wrong by dragon standards, and it wasn't even wrong by his standards. Even now, he thought it was perfectly reasonable to not count oneself exclusive.

But it had been inconsiderate, and his protests against R'an's outrage had been childish. The point was not whether Sh'en thought what he did was wrong – the point was that R'an felt wronged, and had been hurt by Sh'ens actions. Sh'en had had a long time to think about that, and he honestly felt like a runner's a**.

“Wish me luck.” he murmured, striding up towards the familiar weyr.

Kalteth said cheerily, though she didn't see why he should be so nervous, she called out, her mental voice full of laughter.

R'an was on his bed, drawing as usual, his room decorated with paper scattered over the walls. Many of them were of Syria while there were some of other dragons, friends and fellow wingriders. A long time ago, many of the pictures had been of Kalteth and Sh'en but now most of those were hidden away in a box under the bed.

'Kalteth is here with Sh'en.'
Syriacuth's voice sounded from outside. R'an looked up so sharply he probably cracked his neck. Syriacuth didn't say anything else and R'an put his sketchbook down, closing it. He wouldn't let Sh'en see that he had been the subject of the current drawing...

He stood and walked to the door, opening it to face Sh'en, his face blank. He didn't like this. He didn't want to talk to Sh'en, ever again, and especially not now. Sh'en had hurt him and he wasn't quick to forgive.

'Hi Kalteth.'
Syria greeted the green back, nodding at her and stretching his wings a bit. 'I haven't seen you in a long time.'

said Kalteth, trotting over,

Her delight at seeing her friend again was in stark contrast to the sinking feeling in Sh'en's stomach as he came face to face with his once-lover. That expression did not bode well. This would be very hard. “Hello, R'an.” he said, trying to smile a little. That was hard too – smiles, usually so easy to summon forth, felt scarce just then. “Long time... no see.” Was that the best you could do, Shenja?! the greenrider mentally kicked himself at the awkwardness.

Kalteth flicked her tail. she tilted her head, blue and yellow dancing in her eyes, Sometimes, if she didn't get something – and the subtle, strange, complex things that humans did for apparently no reason were one of those things – then another dragon would know, and explain it. It had been a long time since that other dragon was Syriacuth, but he was very likely to know.

“Look. R'an...” Sh'en made himself ready to grab the door and hold it open, if necessary, “I'm here to talk. You don't have to really listen, but... just let me talk, okay? To you, at you, whatever.” More awkwardness. Wonderful. but at least he'd set up the rest of what he had to say...

Syriacuth yawned, showing off his large teeth and shrugged, his wings shifting. 'I don't know why yours is nervous, but I think mine is upset with him. He has been for a long time. He keeps going between sad and angry then sad again.' The blue just didn't understand it and as long as he could remember it had been like this. He wanted his rider to feel better.

The large dragon rested his head on his foreleg. 'Maybe they'll both feel better after later.'

R'an stared at Sh'en, completely silent and studied him. Of course he still looked the same, it hadn't been that long since they had last been this close. They rode in different wings though so they never needed to be within the same vicinity if R'an wanted to avoid Sh'en....like he had been doing.

Seeing though that Sh'en had blocked the door and knowing how this conversation wouldn't just go away...R'an stepped back from the door, letting Sh'en into his room. He still didn't say anything, only went over to his bed and slid his sketchbook under his pillow so the other male had no access to it.

He turned and crossed his arms, staring at Sh'en. "So talk."
