Nadia snuggled in between Lorne's legs, resting her back against his. Her loft was decorated in little lights and plants and a ton of pillows. There was popcorn and candies next to them, and she was titling her head up to rest on his shoulder.
"The choices are horror, Gorey horror, Disney movies or supernatural thriller." Nadia brought up her Playstation controller, as Netflix showed the exact options she had.
"I mean this is kind of like..." She hummed lazily, "building you up for your ghost self in Mont Blanc! We should do horror..." Then she'd have the thrill of him clinging to her.
Because he was cute like that.

It was getting easier to do things like this, being close without being flustered the entire time - okay, so he'd still stuttered and blushed and all when they were settling down, but it was more or less okay now. Besides, he thought to himself with his arms curled in a loose embrace around her middle, Nadia was his girlfriend now.
No, the title didn't change anything, no expectations, just... it made him happy, okay? It made him feel like a more permanent fixture in her life, like those plants or those lights. It was completely silly because they were already spending so much time together, and he knew that, but it still felt so good.
"Horror..." He tensed up at the thought, giving off a nervous laugh. "A-are you sure you wouldn't rather watch Disney? - l-look, there's the Fox and the Hound, a bittersweet tale of coming of age and nature versus nurture! Doesn't that sound nice?" Lorne frowned suddenly and sighed. "Not super faithful to the book though. - probably a good thing, it's kind of devastating."
(She was definitely going to put on a horror movie, wasn't she?)

Nadia was totally munching on snacks in the arms of her boyfriend and she seemed really okay with it. Of course nothing changed, but it was one thing to have Lorne's hands around her, with the thought they might be something more...then rather being in Lorne's hands as her boyfriend.
"Horror!" She leaned back and kissed his cheek. "Nonsense! Disney are mini horror movies too if you read all the original fairy tales!" She chuckled and clicked over to something called the...
The Babadook?
It looked jumpy enough and she grinned.
"Don't worry handsome! I will protect you if you get scared." She teased, as the room got dark and the movie started. "This looks like a movie about Nature vs...Unnature." She laughed.

Lorne cracked a smile, and gently hugged her a little tighter. "Okay, so you got me on that one, " he admitted.
But see. There was still this horror thing. "If I ever squeeze you at all, please please tell me and I'll stop, " because it was a necessary disclaimer. He wasn't the strongest guy on the planet (seriously Colin had just lifted him bridal style the other day and he was still half-convinced he'd dreamed that), but he was also very much aware that he didn't really know his own strength. It wasn't like he made a habit out of running around and hitting people before now.
Babadook. The name sounded misleadingly silly and he tensed before the movie even really started. But he had to grin sheepishly, but maybe a little playfully when she talked about protecting him. "The princess protecting the knight, huh?"
Unnature? "Is unnature like humanity, or unnature like the supernatural, or unnature like... all of those?"

She chuckled lightly, feeling all those fuzzy warm feelings as he hugged her. There was literally nothing wrong with this picture, and she wouldn't allow her little doubts about it, ruin it. She was being some silly teenager, who was with her first ever guy. Well first boyfriend but you know...
"If you squeeze me Lorne, I will make a small squeak sound." She laughed, "You could never crush me Handsome. I'm a little tougher then that." Nothing could squeeze her tighter then a ballet corset and sorry Lorne, you could never beat that.
"The princess protecting her knight too." She nodded, nestling up to him. She really couldn't get enough him, or feeling him. She'd prefer to sit nestled up and looking at him, but that could wait. She was being patient. She wasn't going to rush him. It mattered.
"Unnature. All of the above, something like that handsome." She took a handful of popcorn as the mother read the story of the babadook to her child. How kids could be afraid of something like that made her wonder.

Lorne made a face, playfully skeptical. "No, no, that's no good - if you make cute noises when I get scared, then I'll just go right on squeezing you, " he rationed, breaking into a grin just before nuzzling into Nadia's hair, just for a minute, even a second. "I hope I don't. I'd - be sad if I did."
It was a stupid, silly little detail, really - because he already knew the future wasn't the same as it'd been in that vision he'd had. There were just too many new elements. But this was the biggest by far, the final nail to set any lingering fears to rest.
There had been no girlfriend, no Nadia, there to hug him or run her fingers through his hair, to kiss him and reassure him like she had when they'd come back from Mont Blonc. Remembering the loneliness and the isolation, now - even if he couldn't ever imagine feeling the same way, it made him appreciate all the small details even more intensely. Like the way his stomach still fluttered when she said his name, or the way it felt when he kissed her, especially just things like this where they could just be together and enjoy each other.
Meanwhile, it quickly became apparent that Lorne was what Nadia expected from the beginning: the typical scaredy cat. He missed all the major cues that horror movie buffs would have caught, shivering and tense and fighting the urge to close his eyes when things got tense, then a door opened with no one there and he gave an audible yelp of surprise and buried his face back into her hair or her shoulder, or really anywhere else he could get to.
But also, more than once during the quieter times, he frowned and murmured, "I feel... so bad for this family."

"Then you better not squeeze me! If you can't handle the power of cute!" She made a face and then pinkened. Again, she felt herself reverting to a teenage girl. Her teasing was much more mature then squeaking.
She was deeply invested in the absolute terrified cat she had holding her. As to his promises, he did squeeze her and even she could feel him stiffening up. She was more worried that if he didn't face movies, how would he go back to his wonder?
His yelp made her laugh and she felt his head bury into her shoulder, reaching up to run her hand through his hair in the means to comfort him.
"This family..." She nodded, as the issues came to close. As the mother went crazy, she couldn't help but wonder a little bit of it. But it seemed Lorne was coming down from the scaredy cat.
"My assessment is tomorrow." She smiled, even in the middle of the movie. "Do you want me to text you tomorrow? If you aren't busy..."

She was right to be worried; Lorne had been the kind of child that cried because he thought something was in his closet and out to get him (only to have his mom point out to him for the tenth time that it was just a coat with very large buttons). He'd grown into the kind of adult that still sometimes threw suspicious glances and aimed too cautious pokes at any suspiciously human-like lumps that formed in his sheets. How he was going to deal with a mountain full of ashy mounds of death and ghostly specters of the past was anyone's guess - he certainly wasn't in any hurry to go back.
Still, though. For all his fears, there was something to be said for the soothing touch of his girlfriend's fingers in his hair. (His heart gaze a giddy leap every time he thought of it, like he had to keep reminding himself.)
When she brought up her assessment, Lorne automatically perked up, gasping audibly beside her ear. "Tomorrow? - already?" The week had just blown by and they'd spent so much of it together and -- oh god he hoped he hadn't monopolized her time too much, even if he loved every second of it.
Then, he couldn't help laughing, the kind that came from his belly as he gave her a softer squeeze and a kiss on her hair. As if he actually had a job or school to deal with yet. "Nadia, I - even if I did have anything to do, I'd still want you to text me, " he assured her, and there was a touch of jittery nerves to his voice that didn't stem from his own anxieties for once. "I definitely want to know how it goes! The sooner the better - don't leave me in suspense, okay? - please?"

The movie ended, leaving netflix back to the home screen.
And she was turning herself to place her legs over one of his, so she could see him better.
"Tomorrow. Around 3 pmish. I'm gonna be in the middle of the group which is pretty good. Better then going first, better then going last. Easier to make an impression too." She smiled.
"I'm just not use to having someone to text right after?" She hesitated, then pursued her lips. "I'll have to let Colin know first though, because I am applying for his company. But I am gonna text you right after him. And I want a giant party for celebration." She started to play with his shirt. "Consisting of you, and me and perhaps some really fun activities." She twirled his shirt over her finger. "You know...."

When she turned around, Lorne fidgeted with his arms briefly, trying to figure out the best place to put them - he did that every once in a while, even now. He finally, almost hesitantly, placed a hand on her leg. It was a fight or flight gesture; fighting to get more comfortable with the girl he was dating, and flighting because he was ready to get out of there in seconds flat if his nerves got to be too much.
It was such a stupid thing to get worked up over, but even knowing that didn't change it. It was like his other silly little ongoing internal debate: should he give Nadia a nickname? What would it even be? The usuals (babe, baby, sweetheart, honey) were more things he could imagine her saying than him. He'd seriously considered princess, but somehow the word just never left his lips and he'd wondered if that was some sort of divine sign telling him that wasn't the one for her. (Or he was just overthinking it, which was a lot more likely.) There was 'beautiful' or 'gorgeous' (both of which she definitely was) to compliment the way she was always calling him 'Handsome' (and he loved that), but again...
He nodded along to what she was saying about the timing and all eagerly, because it all made sense and he wanted to believe it would be the best case scenario for her. He wanted her to nail it, wanted to see her happy and proud and confident after she passed.
A giant party. That sounded nice, and he grinned shyly at the way she toyed with his shirt, and then -- he didn't stiffen, but his cheeks burned with the intensity of the sun. He struggled to say something, like, you know, words or something in that vein. Because it wasn't like he was totally against -- no, not at all -- but he couldn't stop blushing or make words happen.

She helped him out a little bit, by placing one arm on her hip while his other settled on her leg. It was like holding her in a bridal style, something he should be well acquainted with his team mates by now.
She wouldn't have minded his nicknames, but she savored that he also called her by name. It was more intimate. And she felt she needed to return the favor.
"Oh Lorne." she smiled at him, "I love the way you blush and fidget and get all tongue tied when I tease you." She stopped her finger swirling to n** at his chin. "I'm trying really hard not to nibble you all up you know." She blinked and then stopped..."OH!" and then she was scrambling out of his lap to grab something on her desk.
When she came back, she laid it out for him. The piece she had taken from her planet of the cloth was bigger now, as if she had added something else to it.
"I found another one while I was up in Methone." She hesitated, "And I saw something. Like a flash of memory here, and then they came together so..." She had wanted to share with Lorne, even if this was like...movie nights.

Bridal style; okay, yes, this. He was still a little flushed, but his hands weren't so -- flighty? Undeniably the best word for it.
Lorne pressed a hand to his cheek to rub up and down, as if that would somehow be enough to make the color go away. It didn't really help, because then she went from praising him (which earned a blush, coupled with a shy, helpless smile) to nipping him (he gasped, then fidgeted, and kept on being red) to the nibbling comment (all systems still critical, send support!) - and then she was gone, rushing off to go grab the cloth excitedly in a way that was so very much her. His lap felt cool without her there, but he watched her with a soft, fond smile.
The cloth itself, though - wait, it was also the cloth from last time? "They just came back together again?" he asked, wide-eyed as he slid his fingertips gingerly over the beautiful fabric. Then, looked back at her, and his eyes were vibrant with excited curiosity as he blurted out, "What did you see? - uh, y-you don't have to tell me, though, " he added quickly, because memories were personal, some things were still personal damnit.

"They did! I was holding one up and then set it down on top of the other and they just...melded together." She nodded, a little excited. Then she crawled back into his lap and held it up for him to see again.
"I think if I find more pieces, then they'll come together or something. Maybe it'll be like a blanket." She laughed.
But she had an idea of what it could form. It was like she was just starting to piece together a puzzle. Like the pieces would form a bigger picture.
And she was thrilled to get it started.
"I saw dancing. On that stage area we found." She closed her eyes. "I saw their hands and legs move like they were the northern lights themselves. They flowed and moved in such a way." She breathed out, "And I felt calm. and at peace. And then it blinded out and I came back to two pieces becoming one." She laughed.
"I'm a little nervous though. It feels like something....It feels like its showing me memories of..I don't know."

He had to stop worrying that he was asking too much, Lorne silently reprimanded himself, sliding his fingertips along the fabric with a broad smile as she held it up for him again. "It'll be the most beautiful blanket for the most beautiful girl, then, " and he hated that his cheeks still warmed as he said it, but was no less relieved that he'd been able to say it at all with some semblance of a playful smile.
He tried to imagine the kind of dance she was describing, but he knew anything he was thinking of probably didn't measure up to the spectacle she had seen. It made him smile; even if he had mixed feelings (at best) about his Wonder, he was so happy she fit so well with her planet, that it suited her and that she could find solace there. Nadia deserved that. "That sounds amazing, " he breathed out.
Nerves, though. If there was anything Lorne ever understood in the world, it was nerves. "Memories of what?" he coaxed gently, reaching up and gently tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. "What does it feel like?"

"Look at you Handsome, Flattering me like I am floozy in need of praise." She laughed, "I am, please never stop, I love when you call me beautiful." The fabric was soft as silk, smooth as water. She placed it up on his cheek so it could absorb all the heat he was pumping out.
"It was." She nodded, "It felt primal, and deep. Like they just opened up themselves for whatever came?" She laughed, "It's hard to describe as a dancer, but you just...feel it." She pointed to her toes, "Sliding from your toes up, and it kind of circles your heart and then floats into your head. It's a good feeling."
And sometimes it hurt, and it was strained and hard. Dancing had such elements....
"Like it wants me to be something else, or someone else then I am right now." Her hands dropped and she laughed awkwardly. "Because it feels like its adding something to me I didn't have before. With you, and being Methone, and my planet....I feel like I am changing so fast. Sometimes it scares me."
