Connecting Routes: Pokemon Village
On the outskirts of Pokemon Village, Kalos, lies a moderately large building that has remained seemingly abandoned for many years. The forest appears to have taken the building as it's own, seeing that now plant life grows on the building and around it. In spite of it's more naturalistic outside appearance however, the inside has clearly been in upkeep. The interior contains a white marble hallway that is rather empty, save for large sparkling gold chandelier hanging from the tall ceiling and the ebony grand piano in the room's center. There are many corridors on the left and right, leading to the rest of the mansion, and at the end of the entrance hallway is a large spiral staircase leading to an upper floor level and a basement level below.
The first hallway to the left leads to a large living room, carpeted with soft cream colored material and a handful of small, colorfully woven, and homey rugs. The windows seem to outnumber the walls so that people may look outside and appreciate the forest scenery surrounding them, however there are also large teal embroidered curtains ready to be drawn in case the sun gets too low in the sky and in the eyes. There are couches and plush chairs in different corners of the room, forming a square around coffee tables so that people might sit together, drink tea, and chat, as well as a small bar stool area where one might order snacks and drinks from. The one white wall sits cornering the sides of the room with the corridor leading back to the main entrance, and contains a large fireplace set in with smooth obsidian stone tile with more chairs around it. Surprisingly enough, there isn't a TV anywhere in the room, clearly the intended purpose of this area is for gatherings of people to sit and enjoy each others company.
Back in the main entrance, one instead passed the first hallway on the left and instead took the second, they would find themselves in a large dining room area. This area has no windows, just walls, each painted a soothing maroon and draped decorated with sheer red silks and fabric hung in a waving pattern surrounding the room. The floor is tiled with a shimmering mirror-like black, and at the center is a long glass table with a cherrywood boarder and legs that could seat at least 22 people with ease, ten on each side and one at each head of the table. There are two large red velvet doors at the other end of the room, each with a small circular window at their top center. These doors lead into the kitchen where there are stainless steel counters and equipment, gas stoves, pots, pans, ladles, a freezer, and pantry. The floor is white tile, and the entire kitchen is absolutely spotless, as it it were brand new and never been touched. There is another door here that leads into the cornered off bar area in the living room, this way snack orders can be places and cooks have easy access back into the kitchen to restock whatever they might need. The freezer and pantry however are fairly scarce in terms of food supply, a handful of canned goods and crackers recently purchased and fresh, a few juices and drinks, nothing very fancy.
Back in the main entrance, the first hallway on the right leads to a large study area that could be confused for a small library, considering all the books lining the shelves of the walls. There is a large desk covered in a few more books, scattered papers, pencils, and pens. The area is dimly lit, even with the lamp turned on. There is a window facing the outside of the room, however the curtains are drawn, and it appears that they were rarely positioned otherwise. The desks drawers are filled with some chemistry equipments, beakers, vials, ring stands, flasks, bunsen burners, rubber tubes, syringes, thermometers, and more. There are a few pieces of odd looking machinery, in different corners of the room, some more recognizable such as a microscope, others look far too complicated to even begin to understand what in the world it's purpose was.
The second hallway on the right leads to what appears to be a child's playroom, unkempt and littered with toys, stuffed pokemon, tea sets, puzzles, wooden ponyta... The list is endless. The walls are painted a pale blue and accented with clouds. On the left side of the room, there is a large walk in closet with costumes, dresses, hats, and shoes. There are also small wardrobes filled with plastic jewelry, toy makeup, and accessories. There is a large tank of water for an aquarium, and large doors leading out to a small white painted balcony.
If one traveled down the spiral staircase, they would come upon a wine cellar which is stocked full, comparatively to the kitchen storage. There is is dark, somewhat damp, cold, and musky. The basement is made completely of furnished wood, and there really isn't much to see other than the different bottles of wine lining the shelves. Up the spiral staircase, however, leads to a series of bedrooms and guest rooms. It is clear which bedrooms were for the guests, and which were for the owners of the establishment. The large master bedroom is chic and styled simply, but luxuriously. There is a large walk in bathroom with two of everything, one for the man of the household, and one for the woman. Everything is colored with a dark royal blue and white, and feels like an island getaway. The guest bedrooms are nice, each a little bit different, but all still relatively similar, with the exception of one bedroom. This bedroom was princess themed, with cream pink coloring and silk drape accents along the white puffy bed. There is plenty of room for more stuffed pokemon, larger decorative ones like a life sized Lapras that sat on a pink circular rug.
This is Natalia's heritage. An abandoned mansion with her mother's maiden name. This lap of luxury is one that Natalia holds the key to, but has rarely used. The house's interior upkeep is funded by Natalia herself, but she demands that the exterior not be touched, nor anyone allowed in other than herself and the cleaning staff. The only current resident is a kindly, middle aged butler, loyal to Natalia's mother, and now Natalia, due to her mother's passing. He lives out his years with his Arcanine at the mansion, dutifully tending to the building and enjoying all of it's luxury in comfort as thanks for his service, hoping one day, young master Jones will return and bring life to the building once more.
