Like any great convention, dressing up is a big part of the fun. What event would be complete without a cosplay contest? Show me your best!

Rules:

Your cosplay must be related to an NPC. Anime and video game characters are great, but not what the event is about!

You may enter up to 3 avatars per catergory.

You may use the avatar builder. You do not have to wear the avatar or own the items.

Photoshopped avatars are not permitted, you have to use real items.

You must post an image of your avatar with your entry, just wearing an outfit is not an acceptable entry.

Please indicate which catergory you are entering:
1. Best store NPC
Shopkeeper cosplay, simple as that.
2. Best comic NPC
For NPCs primarily featured in the manga.
3. Best event NPC
For NPCs featured primarily in events such as holiday mascots.
4. Best RIG/EI NPC
For characters that come from items, such as Rosamund or Gimpi
5. Best game NPC
For NPCs from Gaia's games, zOMG! to Summer Springs, anything Gaia hosted counts.
6. Best other NPC
Want to dress as a sponsorship or forum only NPC? This catergory is for you! Let's see your Opinion Primate and Mermen.
7. Best rule 63
Genderswap. So for example

8. Best original
For an original character in an NPC group. Labtech, member of the Kuro Gang, a new Gold Mountain employee. Give us some backstory about your entry!
9. Best alternative outfit NPC
Evil Rina, Ian's day off, some original version of an existing NPC. Be sure to tell us a little about the scenario!
10. Best gijinka
Animal NPC as a human. Example:

Human NPC as a Paw, so the opposite of the above.

There are 8 additional first, second, and third place prizes that will be handed out regardless of catergory. You do not apply for these and they will be awarded at the judges discretion.

F.A.Q.
Can I just enter my current avatar?
No, you must post a picture in case you change your avatar by the time we judge the entries. If you need an image host, I recommend Imgur.

How many times can I enter?
You may enter up to 3 avatars per catergory and you may enter as few or as many catergories as you'd like.

The NPC I want to do was in the story and an event and runs a shop! Which section do I enter?
That's a tricky one. If they are a shopkeeper enter them as a shopkeeper. If they are not a shopkeeper but are in the manga, go with that. If you are confused about which section to enter them under, feel free to ask but we aren't too strict with that so long as you don't try and pass Ian or Moira off as EI/RIG NPCs or something.

If I use the avatar builder, should I post just the front or the entire section of poses sitting, standing, and from the back?
Whatever you feel looks best. If you think the back of the outfit is especially good, go for it! If you notice the layering has gone all amiss when you sit, no need to show that part off.

If the avatar builder is down, how do I get an image?
There is a fantastic guide on how to do this easily right here thanks to beretje.

How do I submit an animated avatar?
There is a wonderful guide here that shows you just how to do about saving an animation.

Judging criteria:
Similarity to the NPC in question is important, but creativity and effort are very important as well. It's easy to make an avatar that looks almost exactly like some NPCs because they have actual cosplay items. Cosplay that goes above and beyond to recreate something special are better than ones that just use the default cosplay items and poses.

For example, if someone were to dress as Gimpi they could just use the EI Gimpi for every single part of his outfit like so:

The hair, skin/wings, eyes, shirt, scar, and scarf are taken from the Gimpi EI. It looks nice, but it's really low effort.

Instead, one could dress up as child Gimpi

The hair and skin are from the EI, but everything else is a different item. It took some creativity.

Another example would be Roseus. You can use his cosplay items to look exactly like him:

or you an use just his hair, pants, and gloves to create

a scene from the EI updates where he's executed in a bright sunny field.

Don't feel you are stuck with an NPC's main outfit either.
