Mont Blonc scrambled away from the lieutenant as fast as he could - which wasn't actually very fast. He swayed and stumbled like he was one of those men coming home from a bar instead of a battlefield. Even the simple act of keeping his eyes open was a struggle; he nearly stumbled into another set of garbage cans that way.

He wasn't even sure where he was by the time he stopped, but he knew there was no energy signature following him - or at least put enough distance to safely drop Mont Blonc and settle back into Lorne. From there, he more or less had enough in him to get from the alley back to a major street. There, he sat down on the curb (less sitting and more dropping, really, but the results were about the same), thinking to just rest for a minute and collect himself.

Lorne quickly realized, though, that his eyes were still threatening to fall shut, and he didn't know if he'd even be able to muster the will power to get himself back up again. - no matter how foggy his head was, he knew he couldn't risk passing out here. It wasn't clean, wasn't safe, and who knew what other kinds of officers were prowling around? No one was safe from them.

He reached around to fish his phone out of his pocket; there would be no calling Nadia. She was busy and stressed enough, and he didn't want to drag her out for something like this. There was Trevor, but how could he explain to Trevor what had happened, honestly? No, the only logical person to reach out to was Colin. He would have normally felt guilty about it, especially so late at night. However, his guilt meter had a limit, and he'd dropped that at least four blocks ago.

"Colin?" he murmured when the ringing stopped, burying his face in his free hand. His voice still sounded hoarse; he cleared his throat hard. "Hey. Are you busy?" Please say no.

Taylor Swift's Shake if Off sounded from his phone, startling Colin from his very important self-appointed task of watching cat videos on Youtube. He unfolded himself a bit and grabbed the phone, seeing Lorne's name across the screen made his lips twitch into as close to a smile as he ever got without having someone to perform for. "Hi Lorne~" His tone would read as upbeat, wide-eyed and awake though two of those three things were lies.

But then he heard Lorne's voice and with his stomach, dropped all pretense. Was he busy? Please say no? Mont Blonc had gotten into trouble, probably; Colin went into crisis mode. "You're ********, aren't you? Where are you, I'm coming right now." A pause and then, "Do you need me or my alter ego?"

How come every time he ever heard Colin's voice it was the hugest relief in the world? - seriously, he had to take the guy out on a walk sometime, or maybe a movie. Something nice and fun and not at all dangerous.

"No, no, " his eyelids fluttered as he fought to keep them open. He pinched the bridge of his nose between his fingers, "Not exactly ********. It's okay, I got away from him, I - I just need you. I'm not really hurt, just... I got drained." God a sidewalk had never looked so inviting in all of his life. "Don't think I can make it home."

He gave the address and thanked Colin profusely before hanging up. Then, the first thing he did was spit to a side; it didn't help. All he tasted was still the lieutenant's blood. Lorne made a face and tried to wipe his chin, but some of the drying blood persisted.

Probably due to the fact that each time he and Colin got together, it was the dancer that took charge - or because he was natural-born problem solver. Whatever the reason, it was a good thing and would have pleased the blond immensely to know. Also, he would not have said no to going out and doing something nice and fun (okay fine, and not overtly dangerous).

"I see." Mental note: find out who did this and maim them later. He was shoving himself into pants and a t-shirt, grabbing his keys and heading out the door with his cell tucked between cheek and shoulder as Lorne gave him the address. A quick 'be there soon' was all he gave before hanging up - it was a good thing he was familiar with Destiny City, or he'd need GPS for some of these places! Maybe I should invest in trackers for him and Nadia? Aleksy'd skin me alive if I tried...or he'd just wear the damned thing.

Not for the first time, Colin went to collect one of his friends from the bosom of danger and exhaustion. Twelve minutes and several traffic violations later, Colin parked in front of a small bookstore and got out to fetch Lorne. If he'd been drained and then escaped, he was probably feeling like he could sleep a week..so it would be tall man leaning on short man this time. "Come out, come out wherever you areee~" There was only one nice alley near where Lorne said he'd be, so he made his way over, flip-flops slap-slap-slapping as he moved.

Crouching in front of his friend, he frowned at the blood. "Why is there blood on your mouth--wait that's a question I don't really want answered yet. Let's just get you home - your place or mine?"

This time there was a choice, though Colin had considered just hauling Lorne up and dragging the dark haired bean pole home with him.

A week - yeah, that was about right. His legs felt like jelly and Lorne was aware, but he just didn't feel like he was all there. Kind of like he was dreaming, but he knew he was still awake. None of this stopped him from grinning like an idiot when he heard Colin's sing-songy call, followed by the slapping of flip-flops that he knew meant rescue. He tried to help him along by calling out, "Colin, " but his voice didn't really travel too far. Between the blow to the neck and his overwhelming exhaustion, there was just no way.

"Colin, " he said again as his friend crouched in front of him, and he kind of reached out for him, relieved he was there. Exhaustion didn't leave a whole lot of room for shyness, either. "It's -- I'll tell you in the car, " he murmured. If he even made it in the car; his eyelids were still fluttering, fighting to stay open. Not like he was completely out of the clear yet. "Your place, please... " Any other time he would have hesitated; this time, he didn't miss a beat before taking him up on it. Trevor's place might have questions he didn't want answered; Colin's place was safe, comfortable, and Colin was also there, which was a huge perk.

He wondered what it said about him that he felt safer at Colin's place than his own. "Thank you..."

Poor Lorne, he sounded like he'd been through the ringer - those Negaverse officers just didn't screw around with their energy draining antics. Colin could well remember how knackered he'd been after Umber had drained him near to passing out when Rhys had first become a page. Long ago, but not really. Just feels that way...and now he's gone and I wasn't there to stop it--stop. Right now. Focus on Lorne, lord only knows he needs you and you've a chance to keep HIM safe. His voice from Lorne's lips was quiet but hopeful, grateful. Tired, for sure, but with the way he was reaching for the blond...he was clearly a welcomed sight.

"Sure, sure. My place it is. Man, I thought you looked tired before..." Before being the Sandrassacre, though that time Monty had carried him home, rather than the other way around as was about to happen. Because despite being a good five inches shorter than the dark haired man, Colin was a helluva lot stronger and quite used to lifting and dragging people around.

"What are friends for?" Colin half-pulled, half-cajoled Lorne onto his feet, but that was as far as the dark-haired fellow was going to move on his own, because this time the blond was going to scoop him up and haul his a** to the car. "Oof," He had to heft Lorne once to get a better 'bridal' carry going, but then he was fine, "You're a bit heavier than a ballerina. No complaining either. You can argue after I get you into the car."

Thankfully it wasn't far, just a few feet from the alley and he'd be easing Lorne back onto his feet to open the car door and stuff him in. Colin would even buckle his seat belt for him, wasn't that nice? A few moments later, both boys were tucked safely into the vehicle and on their way home.

Lorne wasn't hard to heft around, but he did look surprised. He'd been expecting to lean on Colin or something, not this! "How are you even -- what're they feeding you guys, spinach?" It wasn't like he hadn't seen Colin in action before, but it was a real big indication of the kind of strength his friend was actually packing - and he wasn't even powered up! (Was he sure this wasn't a dream thin?)

Still, if anything was a good indication of just how tired he was, it was that he just let it happen. No protests. No stuttering. He didn't even turn red or anything.

"I owe you, " he mumbled when they were both secure and safe in the car. Lorne slid sideways, his head propped (probably inconveniently) on Colin's shoulder. "Seriously, we gotta... you're the best. I should buy you dinner or something... I'll do something."

"Like I said," He'd smiled at Lorne's surprised expression and verbal joshing, "I'm used to hefting ballerinas. Usually with one arm." Well, that and he worked out. And the pole dancing, that had certainly helped with his upper body strength. "But really, you're not that heavy."

The lack of blushing was what told him, more than anything else, that Lorne was exhausted and needed to be stuffed into a bed ASAP. Inside the car he cocked his head at being told Lorne owed him. "What are friends for? You don't owe me...but I won't say no to dinner or something." Colin chuckled a bit and drove carefully home; the head on his shoulder was a bit uncomfortable but he dealt with it - Lorne needed contact, it seemed. Reassurance in that manner.

Driving home took almost half an hour, at which point he parked and then gently woke his friend. "Lorne, wake up. We're home."

It was less that he needed contact and more that he liked Colin and Colin was there and seemed like a perfectly good, warm person to sleep on - Lorne wasn't really shaken by what had happened, at least, he wasn't yet. Maybe later he'd more deeply regret what he'd done to Rutile, but maybe not.

"Mmm...?" One heavy lid slid open halfway, and Lorne shifted, rolling away from Colin and trying to force his eyes to open and stay that way. He rubbed them furiously and grunted, then groaned under his breath, then finally opened his door. "Damn, " he mumbled, and Lorne cursing at all wasn't even all that common. But he was as achy by now as he was tired, and the bloody taste in his mouth was still lingering (although somewhere deep down he was almost sure it was psychosomatic).

Well, it wasn't as though Lorne was wrong in his assessment of the curly haired blond. He was a perfectly good, warm person to sleep on! Colin waited for his friend to rouse before stepping out of his side of the vehicle. "You need a hand, or are you good to walk with some help?"

He appeared on the passenger side, leaning on the opened door and peering down at his grumbling friend. "Wow, you must be feeling bad. C'mon, let's just get you inside so you can crash." Before he crashed onto the ground.

Lorne mumbled something that was completely and utterly incoherent at first -- then, after wiping a hand back across his mouth once more with a look of mild to moderate disgust, he tried again. "I'm okay, " and he was more or less right; he moved slow, but the nap in the car had done him some favors anyway.

"Thank you again, " he murmured quietly as they approached the door. "I really - just, thank you. You don't have to do half the things you do for me." He made a face, curling his fingers into a fist again, and frowned. "You'd think I'd have the hang of punching by now." You'd think he'd be better by now overall. How much longer had he been a page than some of the people he was fighting? - this was still technically a victory, yes, but - it could have been better, couldn't it?

"Energy draining is the worst, " he finally concluded, as though it were logical somehow, crossing his arms loosely over his chest as they stood by the door. He was still blinking a lot. "The worst, Colin. - the negaverse is the worst Colin."

Colin ushered the taller man inside his apartment, closing up after them and immediately turning to put a hand over Lorne's closed fist. "Hey, hey, hey...what are friends for? Besides, you've gotten a lot better at throwing a punch, I mean...you at least don't close your fingers over your thumb anymore, right?" The blond gave his friend's hand a squeeze, "You never give yourself enough credit, Lorne."

He released Lorne's hand and watched him fold into himself a bit. "They are the worst. I agree completely." Not all members of the Negaverse were there by choice though, and some legitimately believed they were in the right, so Colin often tried to remind himself of those things. "Better energy drained than a starseed removed. Nadia would never forgive us." He reminded his friend and reached out for his hand again so he could pull Lorne away from the door.

"Do you want to get a shower or something to eat? Or you wanna just hit the sack?" Colin still had a few things he planned to complete before heading to bed, but that didn't mean Lorne had to stay up until he was done.

The comforting hand was more soothing than Lorne wanted to admit to, and even as groggy as he was, some part of him felt bad that Colin was left soothing him again. "You're right..." And he smiled, because he really didn't want to drag his feet over it and make his friend do more for him than he already had. "I'll try harder." And he said that to himself so much, and still felt like so little came of it - it was frustrating, of course - but he refused to let it discourage him. Much, anyway.

Still, though. When it came to a choice between the two, "Yeah, I'd rather not have my starseed gather any more dust than it already has, " and exhausted as he was, it was easier to crack stupid jokes like that and smile about it instead of worrying over how silly he must sound. As always, he was painfully easy to lead around, even more so now.

But there was one thing, one very, very oddly specific request he had.

"Can I use your mouthwash? Please?"

Syrie
PostPosted: Sun Aug 23, 2015 8:28 pm

"You always do, Lorne. Who better'n me to know?" The commentary on the dustiness of his starseed brought a soft chuckle from the blond danseur, "Well, I tried to keep it from getting too many dust bunnies, but it was kind of crazy..."

Colin had been working on slowly leading his friend to the couch to rest, when the request for mouthwash was put forth. It only made him quirk a brow for a moment before understanding washed over him. The blond in his mouth. It was the other guy's.

"Of course, Lorne. You know where it is, right? Help yourself." Same place as the last few dozen times he'd been there. "I'm gonna make some hot cocoa...you want some too? Might help the taste..." He waved Lorne towards the bathroom while heading to the kitchen to make two mugs - if Lorne didn't want one, he would just put it away and reheat it in the morning, no big deal.

The fact that someone else saw him trying, no matter how many times he failed, was more reassuring than Colin would ever know. "Crazy was right, " Lorne said, almost dryly, a chuckle bubbling in his throat.

"Thank you." Permission given, tired or not, he made a beeline for the bathroom. "Yes, that would be lovely Colin, thank you." Might help the taste... Colin couldn't have known, right? It wasn't exactly shame that rushed through him, but something did as he glanced into the mirror and saw a trace of the lieutenant's blood on his lip. It took a lot of effort not to gag.

He used the mouthwash not once, twice, but three times, and he still swore he tasted blood and felt the sickening sensation of the unwelcome kiss against his lips. But there was only so much mouthwash could do, really, and after maybe a little too long, Lorne emerged again, still wiping his mouth unconsciously with the back of his hand.
