Life Hunter BATTLE ARENA General Information The portal opens up into an observation room, and down the stairs, an odd chamber for something like hunter training. At the center of a piranha-filled pool stands a solid stone table and several chairs. The Life Arena was built underneath the demolitions and ballistics testing areas, and the chamber rumbles with the occasional explosions above. Pinpoint red lasers sweep across the room regularly, as if hidden snipers are searching for a nice target. In the center of the table sits a wooden tower, made up of smaller wooden blocks. Yes. That's right. The Life Hunters prefer to train via Jenga.
Note: Distraction techniques and Yo Momma jokes are considered viable weapons when playing competitively.
If you fail: you have knocked down the tower! A small dart hits the back of your neck. You come to several hours later, and hope Dr. H didn't do anything to your body while you were unconscious. When you look into the mirror...
If you win: you have reached 50 points! You get a sharpie marker to do with as you please. peen points go to those with the highest scores.
Group Play Playing in a group on any course means certain things can be shifted to make it a better experience for multiple people without holding anyone back. An approved group play alteration for the life arena goes as follows: When someone knocks the tower down, they are shot with a weaker dart. They will wake up 5 minutes later, the game can be reset back to the point before it fell by placing their hands on the table and saying the word, constructum. This allows them to start again where they left off instead of the beginning. They can take up to three of these darts before passing out for an hour, the game will not reset for them and they will need to try again from the beginning.
Mechanics - by carefully removing pieces of the tower, you earn points and advance to the next round. As the rounds continue, the odds grow steadily against you. Rolling a 1 at any point means you have knocked down the tower. Please do enjoy your mystery dart. Anything after reaching 50 points is purely for peen.
- you may roll pieces individually (suggested for group play) or in batches of 5 (basically, a full round.)
Round 1
Pieces: 5 Points per piece: 1 Trainee Roll: 1d10 Life Trainee Roll: 1d12 Hunter Roll: 1d12 Life Hunter Roll: 1d20
Round 2

Round 4
Pieces: 5 Points per piece: 10 Trainee Roll: 1d4 Life Trainee Roll: 1d6 Hunter Roll: 1d6 Life Hunter Roll: 1d8
Bonus Mechanics Life Hunters train for precise hand eye coordination and exceptional judgement, thus they have a slightly lower chance of knocking down the tower.

So this was supposed to be the battle arena?
Kyle mulled over quietly as he made his way down the stairs leading from the observation room to sit himself on one of the chairs in the middle of the piranha-filled pool. This wasn't anything at all like the Shadow Run that he attempted the other day with Chance. This was, his eyes went to the wooden tower that was situated right in the middle of the table before him, another thing entirely.
No weapons were required this time. This was all about one's manual dexterity and wits. All he had to do was accumulate 50 points and he could then walk out of here with the clearance for another runic to be issued in his name. The question that now remained was just exactly how long it would take for him to get there. He mused, leaning in to peer at the wooden blocks that made up the tower before glancing up at the rumbling of the chamber as a result of the occasional overhead explosions.
Interesting.

Ezekiel Young loathed the Life training course. It was an emotion he was not accustomed to, though he was not generally known for strong feelings to begin with. However, this particular training course had been a thorn in his side from day one. He had visited with others, he had visited solo, and every time, the same result. A dart in his neck, and waking up in various states of disarray. What he needed to do was continue on until he had beat it. Bandages were important, to a medic, yes, but more so to someone that seemed to have become ridiculously accident prone over the last half a year. So Zeke returned to the awful building, and he walked down the over theatrical walk way that bridged the over theatrical moat of piranha with lasers. What he had expected to find was the table empty of anything but the little tower of wooden blocks. What he found instead was the trainee he'd shadowed in the infirmary a few days prior. "Kyle."

Staring intently at the Jenga puzzle, Kyle bided his time, waiting for the rumbling sound overhead to stop before making his move to attempt removing one of the wooden blocks. Success! He smiled to himself, looking up when he heard someone call him by name.
"Zeke! What a coincidence. Come, have a seat."
He gestured to the chair that was directly opposite his. He remembered his newfound friend and mentor at the infirmary from a few days back though he would have thought that the Mist would have cleared this particular training course way earlier in order to gain access to runic bandages. "So have you come to join me at this or to simply watch and see how long I'll take to complete it?" He decided to clarify in the end.

The Mist seemed less then amused to be there as he took a seat opposite the Sun. The little tower was given a look of pure disdain before pale eyes flicked up to the trainee across from him. "Joining you. This course is infuriatingly difficult to complete." Which might have sounded odd, given it was just Jenga, but it had proven true. He tapped a piece out, dropping his chin into his upturned hand, and then gestured back at Kyle. Status Round: 1 Pieces Taken: 1 Total Points: 1

”Oh?” A brow was quirked at the Mist. The annoyance that was apparent in his facial expression and voice a first for Kyle. Tilting his head slightly, he carefully slid a piece out before looking back at Zeke once more.
”So how many times have you attempted this now?”

The Mist's lip curled slightly as he reached for another piece. "Too many times. It wouldn't be too bad, except for the -" Something rumbled over head, and Zeke cursed under his breath as his hand made the tower wobble. "..That" Status Round: 1 Pieces Taken: 2 Total Points: 2

Amused by Zeke’s reaction, Kyle laughed.
Moving quickly to grab another piece, he jabbed a finger towards the ceiling. ”I reckon that that’s deliberate. I mean, it’s not like we’re short of land on the island yet they chose, of all the places, to locate this training course beneath that…”

"Has to be." he sounded grumbly, irritated. There was nothing about this training course he found redeeming, nor did he think it a very effective tool. Lip twitching, he reached for another piece and pulled it free. Status Round: 1 Pieces Taken: 3 Total Points: 3

Pale eyes rolled up to regard Kyle across the top of the tower, brows arching. "Why are you guilty?" While he waited for an answer he tapped another piece free, catching it as it dropped and setting it aside with the others he'd collected so far. Status Round: 1 Pieces Taken: 4 Total Points: 4

Kyle looked puzzled for a moment and wondered where that had come from. Plucking one of the few remaining 'safe' pieces and adding it to his pile, it finally occurred to him what Zeke was on about.
”Not me. I was referring to the asshat who designed this then decided to locate it here.” He clarified with a chuckle.

Brows lifted at the questioning look, unsure where the miscommunication had taken place, but aware that one obviously had. When Kyle clarified the Mist gave a soft 'ah' of understanding, hand coming up to reach for the tower so he could claim another piece/ As he set it down he looked back at the man across from him. "Settling into the infirmary?" Zeke wasn't sure he actually cared(he didn't), but sitting in silence wasn't exactly ideal either. Status Round: 1 Pieces Taken: 5 Total Points: 5

Kyle paused to study the tower for a moment, a look of contemplation crossing his face till he eventually decided on which block to go for. ”Yeah.” He nodded, glancing briefly over at Zeke as he gestured towards the tower to indicate that it was his turn.
”Still getting used to how fast hunters bounce back from their injuries compared to a normal human though.”

Fingers lacing, Zeke watched Kyle look over the tower before answering the question. He wasn't quite sure about the Sun just yet. He seemed an alright guy, for the most part. "It's a good thing we do, or I might not be here right now." Not only him, but Ever as well. They'd both taken some fairly frightening damage. There was a pause, then Zeke lifted a hand to take one of the tower pieces, adding it to the rest of his little pile. Status Round: 2 Pieces Taken: 1 Total Points: 8
