Name: Taranis Shamhradhain
Nickname: Tarin (prefers to go by this name, for simplicity's sake)
Species: Dragon Sub-species: Chromatic Blue/White
Age: 75 Human year comparison: 15
Height: 5"6
Length: (due to tail) 9"1
Weight: 134 lbs.
Wingspan: 10"
Important Note: Taranis was born from an egg like any other dragon, but while he was still a young dracling, his parents were killed by humans and he fought them, but was injured and captured. From there, he was experimented on with spells and alchemy and the dragon infused with a magical stone embedded deep within his chest. The stone transformed the young dragon's appearance into that of a human boy, though not perfect, and he was enslaved by the mages to do their bidding, and also further used as a lab experiment. This is why Taryn looks the way he does. The stone is so woven within his natural fibers now, that it can never be taken out without potentially killing him, so he's stuck looking the way he does, and is unable to transform into his natural dragon form.
Appearance: A fifteen year old boy with icy blue skin covered in shining scales, streaked with white and black here and there. He is skinny and childlike in appearance, with only a slight muscular definition. He has a small doll-like nose, intelligent cat like eyes in a crimson hue, and choppy, messy, layered hair in a mix of blue and black. His ears are long and fan out like fins. A pair of long black curved horns are atop his head, and smaller spikes of horns jut out of his forehead just slightly. The boy also has large that are by far his most muscular features, in the wing's limbs, and they are blue and black with streaks of white, having thin scaly membranes in place of feathers, and are flecked with harder, denser scales here and there for added protection. His hands boast long slender fingers tipped in sharp, thick black talons. His legs look half human, since the thighs are the same as any human, but his calves are those of a reptile, having the joints and feet of a dragon, with large powerful pads and claws. He is for the most part unscathed, but along his chest in a diagonal slash, is the unmistakable wound from a magic enhanced sword slash. He also has smaller scars on his arms and legs here and there from being cut and stabbed, but they've healed up well and leave no more than lightly colored marks that blend in with his streaks of white.
For clothing, the boy is often seen wearing black leather pants, and he'll wear martial artists' athletic tape to back up the defense of his wrists and ankles. He wears a long black robe with a hood to conceal his horns and wings at times this may be necessary, and he may wear a black t-shirt with slits cut in it for his wings. In addition to this, he wears a custom fitted shirt of chain mail for armor, gauntlets on his lower arms, and leg bracers. There's evidence of prisoner's cuffs being attached to his armor pieces, but those chains have broken.
I I don't have any pictures, but I may try to draw him. If anyone else wants to give it a shot, let me know and the price you want for the art, but i have to see some examples.
Occupation: Mage's Slave/Test Experiment Aspiring Human Hunter First year in High School. Also attends the Cram School
Elemental Affinities: Lightning/Ice/Fire
Abilities/Skills:
1.) Flight- Tarin's wings allow him to fly, glide, and hover in the air.
2.) Electrical Pulse- Channeling his natural lightning magic and letting it "explode" outward from himself, he can send out a wave of electricity around his body to defend himself by harming oncoming targets. He can also channel lightning similarly to how he uses Ice or Fire breath attacks, by opening his mouth and spewing out lightning bolts.
3.) Arctic Blast- Channeling his natural ice magic, building it up, and exhaling it from his mouth, he can shoot shards or spikes of ice in various sizes depending on how long he charges his energy for. He can also spray a blast of cold wind mixed with snow and ice crystals. By exhaling this second type of ice breath and beating his wings furiously, he can create small blizzards.
4.) Fire Breath- Building up fire within his furnace-like core, Tarin, like all dragons, can release a stream or a ball of fire to decimate and barbeque his foes. This power was taken away from him by the mages who enslaved him and turned him into a lab specimen. They wanted to see if a dragon could live without the organ piece that creates fire, and replaced it with a large magical crystal that permanently altered his appearance to make the dragon human-like.
5.) Weaponry- Tarin has been trained to fight using a variety of melee weapons from swords, to axes, to pole-arms. If he had a weapon of choice, he'd choose a great sword.
6.) Magic- Like most dragons, Tarin can naturally use magic better than most humans. However, he wasn't taught how to. He taught himself how to, and he only really knows how to use his magical talent to resist spells cast on him. He can resist 99% of spells for a longer duration than any other type of known creature, even being adept as far as dragons go, giving him almost deity-like powers of resistance. This is all thanks to genetic enhancement experiments. However, to counter this, he was also made to have less resistance to dragon slaying spells, therefore, any spell specifically made to target and harm or lay status on dragons works extra well.
Summarized History:
Tarin was born to a male dragon and a female white dragon during a winter quite a while ago, somewhere up north near where the Alps are in the Human World. When he was still a young little dragon, barely even able to fly yet or use his magical breath abilities, a group of humans who were trained in the ways of magic had come, seeking at first the horde of gold and treasure that his parents kept. However, they were soon also interested in him, a young dragon in which they may be able to capture and enslave, hoping to use him as a lab rat for their magical experiments. Of course, beating two full grown dragons was no easy task That's why the wizards involved here were high level and experienced in fighting dragons. Plus, they had also brought along warriors armed with swords, arrows, and spears.
Eventually, and unfortunately for Taryn, his parents were killed and though he fought them and tried to flee as his parents had told him to, he was taken down as well, and was taken to a laboratory where he was mistreated and tortured, subject to all kinds of tests and experiments for years. The wizards and alchemists swore to Tarin that they adored him and would never allow him to die on purpose, but that wasn't very encouraging. He was fed on potions, meats both fresh and rancid, living creatures including human beings and other humanoids, and he was taught to murder and hate everything and anything that came near him, for he was afraid, and he hated being jabbed with pikes to do things. Life was terrible, and he wished he could be allowed to just die a lot of times. His only friends he had were his fellow experimented on creatures who went through the same tests he had. One, he even had a crush on for a little bit, a female black dragon named Liela. He had heard from the mages that they had planned to breed the two of them, but those bastards...they killed her!! They had given her some kind of potion that was to mutate her further and give her the powers of a gold dragon and give her an extra pair of wings, but it had been too much for her to handle, and she died within a week after taking the potion. From here, Tarin vowed ever more fiercely to kill the mages at the first chance he got, and escape this hell hole. All he had to do was play along with their games, and the next time they took him outside and unhooked his collar and shackles, he'd do the dirty deed and get away, or die trying.
His chance came a few months later when he was released into the fighting arena to kill a genetically enhanced super manticore. He played along at first, attacking at the manticore and fighting it. However, whenever he would pin the manticore, he told it bits of a plan he had. He needed the manticore's help to get both of them out of there, and so, the manticore, understand, nodded in agreement. He feigned killing the beast, and when the door was open to take the dead animal away, the manticore suddenly awoke, swiped the ogre that had come to take away his body, and Taryn began firing off bolts of lightning and beams of ice, then the manticore started spitting acid and lashing it's stinger tail, and they made enough room to escape! They barreled through the rooms of people and crashed through walls and furniture. They didn't care, because hey it was escape or die as a pathetic excuse for a living creature.
Escape wasn't easy of course. They had other monsters set on them to kill them, and were also followed by battle mages and trappers, but having been so used to the ways they worked, hell getting away wasn't too difficult. They just had to ignore a few arrows and such, a few fireballs, a few trap spells, and make sure to launch attacks when they started saying that dumb sleep incantation. What was even more fortunate? Here was a portal that was left open, which exited this building and this realm! Where it spit them out, they didn't care as long as it wasn't here! So they jumped in, and before you know it, they were well away from the magical laboratory and in unknown territory.
The manticore, named Fang, simple but a good name, stayed with Tarin until the boy dragon reached a town called Janhall. Fang didn't want to enter because unlike Tarin, he didn't look one bit human, and he'd probably be attacked or chased away. Tarin understood, so he thanked Fang for everything, and he sadly departed from his friend. Tarin cloaked himself in tattered drapes to conceal as much of his strange appearance as possible and from here, he entered into the town an looked around. He was of course, wary just in case he saw people with white coats running around looking for an escaped dragon child. Luckily, he saw none of them.
While he was traveling around the town, a boy and girl looking around his age in human years had noticed him, and wanted his attention. They saw Tarin had a nasty deep cut on his chest, so they offered to take him to a hospital for help before his wound got infected or something. Tarin turned down the hospital, thinking about their reactions, and people in white coats. However, then the boy and girl offered to take him to their home instead, saying that their mother wouldn't judge him for looking weird, and that she'd be able to heal him up. He uneasily agreed to this.
He hadn't expected humans to be so kind to him, and this changed his view on humans somewhat. At least humans who lived int eh magical town of Janhall were nice. He learned that the name of the boy was Bryce and the girl was Videll. Their mother's name was Freya, and their family name was Shamhradhain. Tarin was healed up by her, and she adopted the dragon boy into her family. From here, life was beginning to turn for the better, but there was still much more Tarin needed to learn about the world besides what he was taught while cooped up in a crazy science lab. Next week Tarin was going to go to High School like any other kid his age, having proven his IQ was just as good, if not better than most kids "his age". Still....were those evil mages still out there looking for him? And what about his friend Fang the Manticore? Was he ok?
