This is back dated to a few weeks after the New Years Event.
The name on the room panel above Delilah’s head read H. Carrington. Inside the closed door was her best friend, her sister, talking weakly with her parents. It had been three days since Hannah opened her eyes. Three long days following a long week where Delilah had done her best to never leave the side of her fallen friend. And then one day, those beautiful eyes flickered open.
She had not set foot in the room since.
Instead the raven haired woman had gone from the waiting room down the hallway to her current position under the charts and name. With her head in her knees as she sat quietly listened to the voices inside. Each time she heard the whisper that was Hannah’s, Delilah felt a sting in her heart.
She was alive. Her parents were with her. Dr. Jacobs had said she had made it through most of it. He had even taken her henshin pen. Hannah was safe.
They had made it in time.
No...Shang had made it just in time. If he had not been there...if he had not been able to get to her...
And what had she been able to do?
"Nothing..." Delilah hissed through her teeth as her head slammed back against the wall. Once. Twice. Three times. She had been able to do nothing. Hannah had been taken and she had gone to the moon! Her desire to go to space had taken her from Earth just days after Hannah had been taken. And she didn’t have a clue! She had done nothing! She had let it happen.
Guilt was eating her alive and digging holes into her chest.
She blamed the negaverus.
Those involved with the act had overlooked so much. They were still human damnit! They were all still human! Earth was their home! Why did they have to kill each other!
She blamed Tharen.
Hannah had gone looking to meet up with him. That had never happened. If only he had never sent that message. Hannah never would have left her side...
She blamed herself.
She wasn't strong enough. Wise enough. Fast enough. What was she? A senshi of doves? A symbol of peace? What good was that! There had to be more.
What good was she if she couldn't protect her sister?
Voices coming from inside drew her back from near tears. The nurse who was leaving the room gazed down at Delilah as the door shut behind her. "You should go in. She would benefit from seeing friends."
Delilah only turned her head away.
What sort of friend was she?
"The kind that nearly gets your best friend killed...."
Kicking her legs out, she rose and turned sharply on her heels. Her feet were about to carry her away when she stopped and looked back. Gazing back at the nameplate, she reached out and laid her finger tips atop it.
"You don't belong in this war. You don't deserve this...."
And her hand fell limp as she walked down the hall without another word.
