Shalott was very protective of her family. She included her fellow White Moon members in this estimation of family and desperately wanted to make a difference among them, nurture and help them in a war no one really got to choose. It was her raison d'etre now to help those in this war so that no one ever had to feel as alone and disillusioned as she had been just before she'd quit to carry Sarah to term.

The only problem was that her family, the immediate one, was finding themselves hurt entirely too much lately and she was worried for them. But, of course, someone had to stay home with the baby and that was usually her.

She put down her foot tonight with her Royal Knight husband, needing some time and fresh air to herself. Besides, his leg was still newly recovered and should be rested. He could handle himself with the children and the dogs for one night. She was enjoying the night breeze playing with her cloak, sending it whispering against her gown.

Shalott, Knight of Earth. She was beginning to like that title again.

She felt a somewhat familiar aura and moved toward it, though she could hardly remember the name attached. She may not have been able to place the name but it -felt- imporant

It had been a knight Navi had been looking for, and it was a knight she would find. Just not the right one. She'd been hoping to find Camelot, eager to ask him if he'd found or heard any new information for her on the possibilities of purification, but the aura she felt approaching wasn't his. Familiar, yes, but not the royal knight.

It was a gamble, waiting in the open for the woman to find her, but it was a gamble the Dark Mirror took. Banking on them being one of the more friendly knights she'd met in the past, and not someone hostile. Hoping to avoid a fight.

Navi knew the knight, though the last and only time they'd met, Shalott had been a squire. She'd since earned herself an upgrade, but that was hardly surprising, given how much had time had passed between then and now.

"Hello Shalott." Regardless of how civil things had ended between them the last time, Navi still carried herself with an obvious wariness she hadn't worn before. The recent attacks and traumas she'd survived had left her a skittish thing, pron to avoiding others when possible, save a select few she trusted.

Evidence of her run ins with the General that seemed hell bent on plaguing Camelot and his entire family was obvious. A scar on her left cheek that started at the corner of her eye and chased up towards her temple. Another on her neck, rougher, where the spear had clipped her. There were more, but they were hidden.

Shalott had to lay eyes on the person that created the aura to remember anything about her, and even then her memory was very dim. Back when she met the girl she'd been a Squire. It was before Sarah had been thought of and her daughter had just turned two. Strange to imagine where the time went, how she had changed since then. If she fought with the girl she imagined she would have remembered that and would have avoided the aura.

That left her at a loss, then.

"Hello. I'm ashamed to admit that I know you, but I can't remember your name."

She was not acting aggressively at all. Quite the opposite, in fact. There was a quiet serenity about her that was different from the depressed and listless woman Navi met before. She found her purpose in this war and it suited her. The thought of being passive, at first, had not agreed with her. When they met it was the idea of aggression that she wrestled with. Now she was comfortable with both ideas because it was simple who she had to be, protective and aggressive. She had to be stronger, but that also meant picking her battles. This was not one of them.

"Don't worry, I don't mean you any harm."

If she wanted to find Camelot she was talking to one of the best people in the world for just such a thing.

When the knight showed no outward signs of aggression of violence that awful tension in the senshi's shoulders began to ease a bit. She stood a little straighter, took a few steps closer to close what remaining gap their was between them.

"Dark Mirror Navi," she answered, offering a soft smile as delicate fingers knit together in front of her layered skirt. A nervous tick that seemed to have sprung up when she'd gotten out of the hospital the last time.

Pale eyes made a quick up and down from the hem of the Shalott's skirt, right on up to the crown of flowers in emerald hair. "You're looking very well. I'm guessing things have improved for you since the last time we met. I'm very glad for that." Glad now. At the time, Navi had wondered if there was a means to bring knights into the Dark Mirror Court. Of course, at the time Navi had been a dutiful little soldier.

Now? Now she didn't have a clue where she fit. Their rules had more or less reversed.

"Ah, so you're the one."

Recently, Shalott had been hearing that name a lot in her family. It was probably better for her to to have been involved though she loved her husband and step son because she could stay calm in the heart of a crisis but afterward she would have broken down. Besides, her family was, and always would be, her greatest weakness. She was liable to do something rash to keep them safe at the expense of her own well being.

"It seems my son cares about you a great deal."

He wouldn't have gone to these extremes and convinced his father otherwise. And she was for anything that helped Nathan grow and be happy. She motioned to the senshi to move toward her so she could get a good look at the young lady.

"You met me at a very low point in my life, Navi. I had difficult decisions to make and they distressed me greatly."

Something, no doubt, she knew rather well. But it was also something each person had to decide for themselves.

"Is there anything on your mind this time?"

"Ah, so you're the one."

The smile slipped from soft, pink lips as her heart sank. It wasn't quite a rational reaction, but too much had happened in the last year for her to assume a comment like that didn't carry some form of negative connotation. Perhaps it was her own guilty conscious where her court was concerned, or just a toss back to her time spent with Painite. The general seemed to be gunning for the petite Dark Mirror lately.

She actually took a step back, her shoulders creeping up anxiously, until Shalott mentioned her son. This caused the girl to pause, head tipping gently to one side. "Your son? You're Chaonis' mother?" It seemed unlikely. Not that she thought Shalott was lying. Just, what were the chances of what seemed to be an entire family being powered?

"So then, you're Camelot's wife, then?" And here the nerves edged back in. Navi had spent a good deal of her time as a basic and super trying to kill the earth knight she now counted as a protector. It made her wonder if he mentioned this fact to his wife.

She really hoped he hadn't...

Finally she'd step closer, fingers knitting once again. "Ah, many things," was admitted hesitantly. "My mind hasn't been a very restful place in sometime now."

"Yes, Camelot's wife and Chaonis' step mother."

Not that she felt like his step mother much anymore. She loved him like her own blood. As unlikely as it was most of their family was of the powered sort, except for Harmony so far as she knew. And Sarah, of course, who was too young and she wished to God every night that he youngest daughter would never know what it was like to be in this war. She wanted her to stay as innocent as possible for as long as she can.

"I've been hearing your name quite a bit, along with Painite's. I'm happy to see you've recovered."

Though, inevitably, something would need to be done about Painite. The name always sent shivers up her spine. No, Shalott thought enough blood had been shed recently to want to draw any herself without cause. She plucked a summer wildflower and offered it to the girl with a smile. If Navi was going to be involved in her life she figured she should try to make the start of it pleasant.

"Would you like to talk about it?"

Not angry, then. Navi let out a soft sigh of relief, shoulders evening out once again as she stood a little straighter, forcing her hands apart to rest at her sides. Of course there they'd turn, fingertips toying absently with the hem of her skirt. "I'm happy as well. I don't like hospitals very much." Though who did? She smiled, wetting dry lips with a quick flick of her tongue.

"I'm sorry they keep having to put themselves in danger for my sake. Painite seems to have it out for me." Something Navi didn't quite understand. The general was a crazy b***h, but she seemed to have a fairly large vendetta where the dark mirrored was concerned. They'd clashed in the past, exchanging blows, but Navi didn't think she'd done anything to deserve this level of attention. Guilty by association, perhaps.

She looked up at the offer to talk about the troubling thoughts that had been plaguing her mind, searching the knight's face for honesty. She was Camelot's wife, whom Navi trusted, but she didn't know Shalott, not really, and she wasn't absolutely sure she could trust the other woman.

But...if she did manage to purify, that meant Shalott would become a big part of her life.

"What have they told you about me?"

"I can't say I'm overly fond of them myself."

After all, she found herself in them entirely too often for her comfort. It wasn't something she enjoyed, getting a call late at night because her family had been hurt, again, in their pursuit of justice. Or recklessness, in Nathan's case.

"Yes, that General seems bound and set to destroy our family and anyone we care about."

Though she probably could have shortened that to just anyone in general. Shalott remembered the vision of Painite killing her daughter and the image of her stepson by her side, corrupted and obedient to her. It broke her heart and she shuddered, hoping such a thing would never come to pass. If it came to it she was going to fight, hard, immediately and send her family as far away as humanly possible.

"To be honest, I've gotten very little information about this situation other than you and Chaonis care about one another very deeply and that, perhaps, you may be part of my family someday."

She gave Navi a patient look, hoping that the other knew she truly meant no harm to her. She'd seen the change in Nathan and how he'd been stepping up to be the man she knew he could be.

"What would you like me to know about you, Navi?"

She nodded, arms coming up to cross over her stomach like a shield. It was a personal vendetta, and Navi had been caught up in the cross-hairs as well. Guilty by association, though she suspected she'd already managed to find her way on Painite's s**t list after the stunt she'd pulled at the park.

It was a relief to know that Camelot hadn't betrayed her trust, not even to his wife. A relief, but also a burden, because now she would have to explain it, and that was the very last thing Navi wanted to talk about. It was such a painful topic for her, for so many reasons.

But allies were important, and who better than someone already related to two of the people she trusted this with above any others.

"I love him," she admitted, still watching Shalott's face, trying to read her expression. That was the easiest part, what she was most sure of. It was what gave her strength, what kept her moving forward.

"I love my court," she continued a moment later, features betraying just true that admission was. "I do. But I can't stay with them. I can't be this anymore. I'm so exhausted." There was just too much. The girl felt so entirely used up, just...empty.

That was something Shalott was all too familiar with. She loved being a knight; she loved Earth. She loved helping people. But when she and Navi first met she was in that place where she felt drained and exhausted. She had even considered quitting so she wouldn't hurt anymore. It seemed like every time she took a step forward some force of Chaos reminded her, painfully, that she would never be free of it.

"I am sure that he loves you. He would not do these things if he didn't."

She knew Nate well enough to know that, while reckless, he usually did not seriously risk his life for anything less than someone he cared for. It was gratifying to see how loyalty and how it changed him. Despite his gruff exterior he was still a very good young man.

"I could say many things that I know to be true, but somehow I think it might come across as patronizing. I haven't heard of any of your court purifying, if that is what you decide, but fortunately I know a man that will work tirelessly to figure out how if that is what you want."

She offered the girl a smile. Whatever was to come of this, no one could make the choice for her. Kyn hoped, wanted, to see them succeed if there was a way for it to happen.

Chaonis' love was never in question, but all the same, hearing it from Shalott still managed to pull a very small smile from the girl.

"I know two men," she corrected gently, and again she smiled, wane as it was. "Like father, like son." She just wished she'd been own enough to have appreciated Camelot before now. How much grief had she caused the old knight?

How much did she still cause him?

Lips pressing together, Navi glanced back over her shoulder, down the sidewalk. She'd lost the knack for talking to people, she'd been avoiding any and all contact for so long. Shalott wasn't doing anything threatening, and yet the dark mirror senshi was still nervous, anxious to slip away again. Perhaps it was simply the topic that was making her twitchy.

Regardless, she found herself taking a half step back. "I think I should go." Her tone was apologetic. "I'm sure I will see you again though."
