Deep inside the planet, in an area inaccessible to those on the surface, the legendary monster created by the Cetra sleeps. This beast was created with one sole purpose--destroy all life on Gaia, and it was created using the Lifestream by the Cetra as a failsafe in case Jenova destroyed all their people. When the planet's energy was absorbed too much, the Beast would awaken, and raze the planet, Jenova included, to begin anew. Since Jenova was successfully defeated, the Beast should have remained in slumber for the rest of eternity, but recent signs have shown of the Beast's awakening. Due to the Mako Reactors draining the Lifestream, the Beast can only assume that its purpose is at hand, to thwart the being who would drain the energy of the planet. Only, in this situation, it isn't Jenova, but those who live on the planet who are bringing their own demise. The Beast's coming is at hand, and when it rises, the world will never be the same again. It will be the most powerful being in all creation, and only complete unity can bring the Beast to its demise without taking the planet with it. Will those gathered to aid the planet be enough to quell the Beast's godlike powers? Or will the Beast bring ruination to all, on a scale unimaginable by even Jenova herself? The fate of the world rests in the hands of those who inhabit it--fight, flee, or fall. Any outcome could await the planet depending on the choices made by those with the strength to fight. The Beast is the most powerful being in all existence, and even with the entire world working together, the likelihood of survival is minimal at best...

There was a long calm before the great stirring. But even within that calm, there was this feeling of unease. Like the world was about to be turned on its head. Like life was about to change as the world knew it. Like the world might come to its ultimate end... Then, the stirring began. A great stirring that send mild shockwaves throughout the entire planet. It wasn't terribly noticeable, and it lasted several hours, and slowly the intensity increased. The air of the planet began to have a feel of enmity, as if every breath threatened to be the last. As if the planet itself had drawn its final card, and was going to turn against its people. As if every single being could be wiped away in a matter of seconds...
And suddenly all that enmity, all that feeling, all that hope, or hopelessness, was gone--all in an instant. Every being in the world was still, and the irrevocable shift of the world's atmosphere could felt around the world. Everything was still. Everyone was silent.
And then, it happened. The Beast awoke! And with that waking, the entire world changed. Gravity's pressure felt more severe, the air felt more thin, the hope that once lived in all things--it vanished almost fully. All replaced by this one thing. The Beast. Its pressure... It was a pressure felt around the world, by all its inhabitants. It was a presence that threatened the very fabric of reality as they knew it. There was no catharsis--no escaping this feeling. The end was nigh, the battle that would change all things, the battle that would decide the fate of the world! It marched ever closer... with every breath drawn, with every word said, with every day passed, the world's finest hour drew closer and closer. The day The Beast would rise from its cradle and attempt to destroy all life, as was its purpose, given to it by the Ancients.
The day was marked, now, now that The Beast had drawn its first breath.
The Beast was confused at first, inspecting its surroundings. The Beast had no form--it was a mass amount of concentrated energy drawn from the Lifestream. The purest form of Mako, created by the Cetra themselves. Still, it felt--it saw, it heard, and it could speak. Its mind was still in infancy, but it knew its purpose. Complete obliteration to all living things. The Beast had been the trump card created by the Cetra, in case Jenova had drained a dangerous portion of the planet's energy--since it didn't, the Beast should have remained in slumber. But due to the Mako Reactors doing that same thing, here it was. And it had only that one objective.
It called upon its servants, and they were there in an instant. Alpha, Psi, Epsilon, and Omega. Powerful life forces taken from the Lifestream and given a second chance as its servants. "...Body..." Its voice echoed throughout the small space. "...Host.... need... body..." The four nodded. "...Find... host... powerful... body..." Once it had a body and a brain through its host, it could get into action. A powerful body and a brilliant mind would only help it to further channel its power once it acquired it. The four nodded, and vanished. They understood their mission: each of them would find a host they thought suitable, deliver them to The Beast, and it would decide what to take. And so it began...

___Robin___ "We're not pawns of some scripted fate. I believe we're more. Much more... There's something between us all. Something that keeps us together... Like... Invisible ties, connecting us." "...""And here we are! Desolate and depressing, huh? Is it too hot for you here?" Psi asked, as if she were trying to be courteous to the guest she was leading into potential death."I've been through worse," Robin said, his eyes scanning the area. He had been; especially when rescuing the five Annas in the Outrealms. The heat in that volcano was torturous, and yet he managed to keep a cool enough head to guide the Shepherds to victory. "...Where is this Beast?""Body..." The powerful voice once again echoed throughout the space."Wha..??" Robin grunted. "Show yourself!"The Beast's Core appeared before the Tactician, the mass of concentrated energy floating there. Though it had no face, and no eyes, Robin couldn't help but feel as though the creature was studying him intensely. "Body... Powerful... Body... Powerful.... Mind! Ideal... host...!" The Beast's voice shook the area slightly, as though it had found a possible host. A very ideal one. Robin's body had been tempered through countless battles, and was at its peak physical prowess, and his mind was very obviously brilliant. A large mind with a vast amount of general knowledge, battle tactics, and experience. Perhaps with this host, the Beast might be able to realize its fullest potential. Yes... this was the one! And The Beast wasted no time. As Robin was about to ask a question, the mass amount of energy shot straight towards him, entering his chest."Guh...?!?" Robin gasped, falling to his hands and knees, his eyes widening. What was this feeling? No, he knew this feeling well--another being trying to dominate his mind. It was the same as the feeling Grima and Validar had exerted onto him in the past. "N-no..." The Tactician grunted out. It was as though the Beast was trying to force all of Robin's own free will into a deep sleep, and take over the body in its absence. He could feel the Beast's desires attempting to overtake his own. But... he had felt this before. "I won't... guh...!" He grunted, his eyes widening further. "Ch....Chrom!""You said you'd fight, didn't you? Now keep your damn word! FIGHT BACK!"He could hear his closest friend's voice in his head. "Nnnghh...!""And we won't rest until we reach the end! Together!""Father! You can't go! I need you--I'd be lost without you... please!""....!!" His family... "...RAGH!" He shot to his feet, the energy shooting out of his chest and back to where it once was."What?!" The Beast's voice boomed. "Im...possible! Host must... submit...! Otherwise... will... DIE...""Sorry, but I'm far more terrified of my wife's wrath than yours." Robin said. before drawing his Thoron tome. He had seen glimpses of the Beast's mind--thoughts, knowledge. Everything the Beast knew about itself and its creation was now hazily implanted into Robin's mind. And that's all he came for. The thought that stuck out to him the most right now? The Beast was vulnerable in only one state. When it was in its purest form. "Yah!" He threw out his arm, sending a bolt of Thoron directly at the energy."AGH!" The Beast screamed out. The pain was real--it was only in this form that it was vulnerable. It had no offense or defense, but it had to show itself in order to try to claim a host. But it would not be defeated so easily. "Away...!" And suddenly, the Tactician vanished from the domain. "Can't... must... heal... go... bring... another..." It ordered Psi, before the mass of energy vanished, presumably to heal what damage it had just taken. How could the man have resisted? That should have been impossible. Perhaps this is the one time Robin would have to give thanks to his other half and father--if he hadn't been put through his sort of trial not once, but three times before, he might not have been able to free himself. And now he had knowledge that might just tip the scales in their favor--and in this Tactician's hands, knowledge about the enemy was his ultimate power. (( OoC: ))

"...." And then, without warning, the entire world stood still for a moment. Trembling, unprepared, the world and its people could feel the actualized powers of the Beast all across the planet. Waves stopped crashing, the sun's shine became a gloomy overcast; a sense of dread hung faintly in the air. Enmity filled the planet, and no one felt comfortable. The Beast was alive."...He's waking up." Epsilon said, looking at the body suspended in the air, as the energy of the Beast was collecting around it, filling the body entirely. He turned to Omega, who stared from beneath his helmet, saying nothing. "You don't even understand..." The Beast had severed Omega's connection with his thoughts and feelings entirely, after all.And suddenly, the body suspended in the air fell to the floor, like the chains had been ripped free. Landing on one knee with a hand on the ground, the body glanced around, inspecting the area with new eyes. He looked down to his hands, raising his head to look at his two heralds. "I... am free." Ready or not, the world's judgement was at hand. But he wouldn't fulfill his purpose yet; he had to first grow accustomed to the body Psi had retrieved for him. "Balder was his name. And now, with his death, the world's end is nigh. With such an expansive mind, and the power he possessed, I can almost realize my full potential. In time..." Standing now, the Beast stretched a bit. "Heheh. With his powers as a Serenitian, I can track anyone, anywhere. His powers are far greater than most of his people.""Rise and shine," Epsilon said. "It's about time you showed up. Beast.""Beast? Heh. That's what they've taken to calling me, isn't it?" He chuckled a bit. "The Cetra gave me a name. Exitiumortis. Frankly, it doesn't matter what they refer to me as. Their extinction will come. But for now... a warm-up." A tiny show of things to come. And with that, The Beast was gone in an explosion of electricity."..." Epsilon sighed. "That guy already pisses me off." Then again, everything seemed to.(( OoC: ))

Velora A few hours of tunneling, and at last a thick pile of rocks broke in through the ceiling of the area nearly no one had laid eyes upon, and fewer were ever meant to see. Landing deftly on her feet, Velora raised her head, taking in the almost hellish altar that awaited her. "Ah, the Cetra sure have good taste in décor..." She muttered sarcastically to herself, raising to her feet. As she began to walk forward, she noted the four beings standing at the side of the altar, living, but still as statues. It didn't take long for the clicking of her heels against the stone below to rouse them from their apparent hibernation."Trespasser!" Alpha shouted. "Begone from this place!""Mmm..." Velora placed her index to her chin, as if pondering, as her heels continued to click with her undaunted steps. "Mmmmnope." She gripped her shield with both hands, ripping it in two, both halves molding into two identical wholes which floated on either side of her. She then reached for the Anti-Matter Sword as it materialized on her hip, drawing it fiercely, holding it in a high, forward-pointing stance."This should not be possible... Your kind should not even know about Exitiumortis yet!" Alpha took flight, his wings flapping as he quickly charged straight towards Velora."True," Velora responded flatly, turning her sword deftly and delivering one, precise slice. And as Alpha passed her, his body fell limp, as his head was completely severed from his shoulders, falling to roll at her feet."B-BROTHER!" Psi shrieked in absolute horror."Don't worry," Velora stepped on Alpha's skull, crushing it into a bloody mess beneath her foot as she continued to walk forward casually. "You'll be with him again, soon." Omega dashed forward to intercept her, driving his spear forward, which only met one of Velora's shields, pushing his spear aside which gave Velora an easy opening to cut his arm clean off at the elbow. "I wonder who's under that helmet this time..." She shrugged, cleaving through his torso like cutting through butter, and leaving his corpse behind her just as easily."Wh..." Psi felt tears welling in her eyes--tears of fear, of sorrow. "Why are you doing this?!""Oh, boo-hoo, cry me a river. You want to act like the victim when you intended to help this thing with its genocide?" She grabbed Psi roughly by the throat, lifting her off her feet. "Shame, too. You're pretty cute." She shrugged, crushing her throat mercilessly in her hand, causing the girl's body to go limp, before being tossed aside like trash. She turned her gaze at last to Epsilon, who stood there with his arms crossed."...Just ******** kill me already." He said, sounding mildly exasperated."Hah, seems you'll die braver than most." The eyes told her this was certainly not Leander in this world, but his attitude was comparable. "Any preferences, since you're so calm? Not every day you get to die by a cute girl's hand.""Unfortunately, I can't really enjoy that. Not into girls. Just get it over with.""Ah, too bad. If my father were here, I'd get him to do it instead just for you. Well, then--" Just like Alpha, she turned her blade, slashing expertly to remove his head from his shoulders. That, at least, was as painless as she could make it for him.
At last, once the heralds were dealt with, she turned her attention to the sleeping mass of pure, unfathomable power before her. Even in its slumber, the energy spiraled infinitely in on itself, and it exerted such an incredible pressure it was almost difficult to breathe. "It's a few years early, but... rise and SHINE!" She shoved her gloved arm straight into the mass of pure energy. What happened next was something that would rock the entire world for moments. A violent awakening, much different than the way it awoke in the cycle Velora lived through. A screech pierced the air around Velora, so loud that it likely resonated through the entire snowy continent of the Northern Cave. The entire world felt tremors, and the air would become very heavy--the enmity therein suffocating. The Beast, still like a newborn in its cradle, desperately wanted to escape the disruption, but Velora's hand clamped down, using her own energy to entrap it in place. "Time to submit, and give me everything!!" She shouted, baring her teeth as she began to attempt to absorb the incredible power that formed the Beast. "This is the first step... I'll rip that b***h Selene's head from her shoulders and put it on a goddamn pike! And I'll unite this world! Gah!" She was pushed back, as she felt the Beast's consciousness fighting against her. "Rrgh, fine then!" Her shields swung around, one in front of her and one behind her, pushing to brace her into place. Dropping her blade which dissipated before hitting the floor, she shoved both her hands into the mass, exerting more of her own energy against this infant consciousness. Exitiumortis fought back desperately, clinging to a life it didn't understand and had never known, but the desire to simply live could never match what drove Velora. Had it awoken and been given time to understand anything before this began, it may have had a fighting chance. But Velora's drive, her power, and her ambition were more suffocating than the Beast's power alone--and with a last ripping outwards motion with both her hands, the unfathomable mass of power was finally severed, exploding apart and destroying the Beast's consciousness before it had a chance to fulfill its genocidal goal.
Velora drew several deep breaths after the struggle ended, and she wasted no time in drawing in the incredible power around her. In the last cycle, she had elected not to use the fragments of the Beast's power herself, desiring to use her own power to ensure her conquest. And indeed, nothing would make her happier--but now that she knew the inevitability that was Selene, all bets were off. As the awe-inspiring power was absorbed into the young former Reaper queen, she began to shake, her eyes widening at the awe-inspiring extent of the absolute power she felt coursing through her veins. She was involuntarily lifted off her feet for several moments, as the blinding light engulfed her and flowed into her. And with several gasps of shock and mild pain, it was over, and she dropped down to her hands and knees, eyes wide, gasping for air. It took several minutes for her to regain her composure at last, and finally use her shield to pull herself back to her shaky feet. "This... is only the first step.." She muttered, releasing her shield and beginning to walk back towards the entrance she had made for herself. "There's still more to be done before Selene arrives..." She wouldn't be able to harness the awesome entirety of the Beast's power immediately, she knew that much. But to say she felt her potential had spiked was a drastic understatement. Already, she felt herself surging with power, and that was only a small fraction of what she had stolen.
She passed the corpses without a second glance. There would be many, many more on her path to revenge, and then, finally, to conquest. (( OOC: ))
