It was actually rather rare for Chance to have a duty shift at the same time as Otto; their schedules most of the time just didn't match up. In spite of everything, it wasn't a huge deal, because they would see each other later, and it would be all right.
However, on rare occasions they did have a shift together, and this particular one was at the top of the lighthouse.
Chance had gotten there early via the portal, glancing curiously around at the circular room. It wasn't huge, but it wasn't terribly small, either, a comfortable space to move around in. A table was set up on one side of the enclosed portion, and there was a bookshelf opposite it. Wide, spacious windows lined the walls entirely around (several of them cracked, a few with questionable stains), and a door led out onto a surrounding deck area, braced with a faded black railing and just enough space to accommodate a possible sniper.
There weren't any chairs; there was however, something plugged into one of the walls, sitting on the lowest shelf of the bookcase, though Chance didn't see it yet. He was instead outside on the deck, bow propped up beside him, staring out at the island as he waited for Otto to arrive.

Guard: Only the top of the lighthouse is accessible, and the room is pretty bare except for a small table and bookshelf. The view, however, in one of the best on the island, and a perfect spot for ranged hunters to keep an eye out for flyers. There are no visible booby traps in the room, but those guarding the location are given a special emergency portal code to use only when and enemy has invaded the room.
Those curious about as to why the rest of the lighthouse is unusable may open the chamber door. Looking down they'll see what remains of the stone steps floating in mid air, slowly circling inside the tower. A parting gift and reminder.

Otto arrived a little late, for reasons that had a lot to do with forgetting how to get to the top of the lighthouse. When he finally did, he found a familiar and welcome figure waiting outside on the deck. He smiled to himself, walking through the barren room to look out the window.
He leaned outside of it, his arms folded on the ledge as he stuck his head out to get Chance's attention.
"Sup~."

In the fifteen minutes between Chance arriving and Otto arriving, Chance had not moved at all from his spot on the railing. He hadn't picked up his bow either, because there had been no reason to yet, the weapon summoned in case something came from overhead.
Needless to say, nothing had. Chance didn't hear Otto come in through the portal, but he did hear the click of the window as it opened. Chance twisted around and caught sight of his boyfriend, a little smile touching his lips.
"Hey," he said, lifting his hand in greeting, and then spreading his arms out to the side. "Welcome to the bird's nest. Or whatever."
His eyes flickered across the skyline.
"It's quiet up here, but the view's pretty amazing, not gonna lie."

Otto nodded. "Yeah. Ain't never seen nuthin' like it." He could see everything, and it was beautiful. Simple. Peaceful. The wind, the air, the ocean. A few hours up here would do the soul some good.
They were both ranged fighters, although Otto's weapon was on the cumbersome and bulky side that required an open field to wield. Chance's had a better, smoother way to deal with oncoming threats.
However, he didn't expect anything to come of this duty. Guard duty never seemed to yield anything terrible.
"Quiet is good'n all, but...." Music would be way better.

He closed his eyes briefly and inhaled a breath, the salty scent of the ocean and the distant taste of wind flitting through his senses. From up here, one could see the dormitory building that stretched out beneath them, the labs, the offices, the town with its little houses.
Chance turned back around after a moment, a smile on his face as he reached for his bow and picked it up. He padded towards the inside room and leaned to give Otto a quick kiss before putting a hand on his hip and surveying the otherwise empty room, bow propped up beside him.
"This is almost as bad as my room was before we redecorated," Chance deadpanned, sliding his gaze over to Otto. "Is there nothing of interest in here that we can keep ourselves occupied with?"

Otto returned the kiss, a small bubbling happy feeling left behind. He gave the man a raise of his brow. "I dunno. I ain't been here before. Funny enough, I think this room might be only a little worse than yours was..." He was teasing him, knowing full well Chance would laugh it off.
He gave a huff, padding toward the only notable focus of the room. The table and bookshelf had little going for it. However, it seemed whoever was there last left something. "Dude, there's a stereo." He called to Chance, leaning over it and turning it on.

"This is my first time in this area for a shift," said Chance, giving Otto a pointed look and a snort of laughter. "At least my room had places to sit, this is just kind of like...you can sit on the table, the floor, or out on the deck, I suppose."
He was squinting out at the sea beyond the glass again when Otto caught his attention, and Chance twisted back around, the bow tapping against the wood of the floor as he meandered over to Otto. Chance stood behind him and glanced down.
"What's a stereo doing up here?" he asked interestedly, but the first strains of music had begun to flutter out - something bright, cheerful, upbeat, the notes swaying through the air.

"Someone mighta left it." Otto usually listened to heavy metal or hard rock. But he was a lover of music, and sometimes any kind would do. As it stood, it was kind of refreshing to hear the upbeat tunes. Otto turned the volume up, leaning back with a small smirk.
"Better. Beats fallin' asleep to ocean waves."

Chance was, well, very Chance-ish in that he was open to a lot of music, depending on what it was. He smiled and swayed a little, letting the bright, funky tune wash over them both, a small hum of pleasure escaping past his lips.
"We can't sleep, we have to stay awake in case things come to steal our tunes," Chance deadpanned. Then he added, "Of course, that involves figuring out what to do to stay awake that doesn't involve throwing rocks at people passing by underneath."
An idea was slowly forming in his mind, Chance leaning on his bow, a grin beginning to spread across his face.
"Hey," he said, looking at Otto, eyes filled with mischief.
"Dance with me."

"I dunno, I think throwin' rocks at people is an awesome idea." Sad thing was, Otto was serious. His gaze fell to the window and he let out a sad sigh. "But there ain't no rocks up here..." He legitimately sounded and looked disappointed.
Otto blinked, and turned to look up at Chance. The idea the man just had made Otto slowly blink once more, his brows knit in uncertainty.
"What?"

Chance fully intended to wipe that disappointment right off of Otto's face. He wasn't even sure where the suggestion had come from in the first place, but now that it was in his head, it was taking shape and he was starting to thoroughly enjoy the thought of it.
"I said..." He straightened, plucked up his bow, and stepped to lay it flat on the table. Then he moved back to Otto, Chance coming right up into his space and leaning forward with his hands braced on the bookshelf on either side of him so that Otto would either be forced to lean back against it.
"Dance. With. Me." Chance repeated, the smile curving his lips upwards, the music flitting brightly around them.

Otto widened his gaze, stepping back into the table on instinct. Chance was being forward. Chance was never forward. Otto's mouth opened, but words were caught in his throat. "Uh.." He stammered, having to backtrack his mind to remember what it was Chance said.
"I don't.. dance." He murmured finally, though his eyes didn't look away from him. Even if the music was fun and bouncy, even if Chance really seemed to have a way of making Otto think 'maybe I could do it for him'. He couldn't bring himself to look silly.

He wasn't quite sure what was getting into him. Maybe it was the cheerful, energetic music that had the sort of beat to it that made one want to move. Maybe it was the fact that the view up in the lighthouse was fantastic, and the air was breezy and comfortable, and they were alone together.
Or maybe it was just a combination of all of those things.
"That's okay," said Chance, still holding his position, a lighthearted expression on his face, though his eyes were still bright with interest. "I do."

Otto wasn't so sure about this. Trepidation was clear in his features and posture. It wasn't like he'd never danced before. He'd danced at a Deus Ball with Clarice, he'd even danced by himself on numerous occasions. Outwardly, he insisted he hated it, because of a fear of looking ridiculous.
"I dunno.." He murmured with tremendous uncertainty.

His expression softened a little. Chance lowered his hands to Otto's shoulders and leaned back a little to give Otto his space back, sliding his fingers down to take Otto's and squeeze them gently.
"It's all right," he said, a smile on his face. "There's no one here but us, if that's what you're worried about."
Not that he thought Otto was ashamed of him, because he knew he wasn't; but Chance also knew how he felt about crowds in general, his aversion to dancing when Chance had mentioned going to clubs. He bent his head, forehead against Otto's.
"Just you...me, and the music right now," he murmured, eyebrows raised, and he moved his hands to rest lightly on Otto's waist.
