Magnolia let out a long sigh that attracted the attention of her Kirlia, Asphodel. For the last few days, the lavender-haired teen had been stuck in putting up a fight with a cold that just wouldn't go away. Though James wanted to be there and take care of her, she wouldn't have any of it, and instead suggested he continue their search for the elusive Mega Stones. Though he left in low spirits, James agreed to remain dutiful to their objectives.
He had been in and out of their shared hotel room for the last few days and, while Magnolia put on smiles for him, they soon faded as soon as he departed. Asphodel could sense the shift in her mood just by the thinning of the air about her; the limp happiness buzzing the horns on her head annoyingly. The Kirlia had tried much to make her happy; dancing for her and even light slapstick, but nothing worked. Magnolia would just stare out forlornly from her room to the sky above.
She looks so sad... Asphodel noted with a frown. I want her to be happy again. How can I...
Suddenly, something clicked in her head, and she dashed outside to the front of the hotel. The owner of the establishment had recently planted some blue flowers in a small, bricked off garden to spruce up the area. Grabbing up an armful, she pulled and uprooted the small flowers from their spot, and then hustled back inside. Wrapping the base in newspaper, she attached a small card scribbled with the barely legible message, "From: Pierce," on it, and then rushed back to her room.
Offering it up to Magnolia, she cheered a delighted, "Kirlia!" at her for her to take it.
The lavender-haired teen blinked and tilted her head at the makeshift bouquet. Turning the tag up to her eyes, she read the writing that obviously didn't belong to the stiff and elegant penmanship of her roommate, but gave her Kirlia a smile nonetheless for the sentiment behind the item. Magnolia knew she hadn't been in the best of moods--lonely without James around to keep her company--but she realized she was also affecting her Pokemon as well.
Reaching out and patting the top of Asphodel's head, she said, "Thank you. It's such a lovely gift. Be sure to tell him thank you for me, will you?"
Asphodel nodded her head. "Kirlia!" she cried in reassurance she would.
