It hadn't been unusual to see Chel at the sparring grounds prior; being a sun meant a lot of time training your battle skills because they were the most important thing. Now as a death she had far less time for battle prowess and truth be told it was one of the bittersweet annoyances that came with a division change.
Still, it didn't mean she couldn't use her free time there. When she wasn't at the gym with Chris it usually meant she'd end up in the ring one way or another. Chel was far too angry of a person to let it sit.
It felt better too, now that she had Tenebrae back. Arrows and sword slashes suited her much better than two daggers ever had; even with teachers like Shun and Peyton, Chel was an archer no matter how much she tried to run away from it.
Tonight she looked 2 or 3 degrees angrier than she usually did, shooting a series of arrows straight through the dummy's head until it ripped clean off the wooden post. On to the next one.

Chel was a rarer sight on the field as of late, but Peyton was not. The smaller girl came striding along the path towards the training grounds from the direction of the dorms, though when she saw the pink haired hunter that steady pace slowed. A little. The last few times the two of them had crossed paths in one way or another, it hadn't ended all that well. If it had been Jack, there would have been some biting, taunting comment, but Pey didn't have any problems with Chel. She respected the other girl, even liked her. She just couldn't seem to keep from ******** it all up every time she was around her. She saw the head of the dummy fly off the base though, and before the archer could loose another arrow she gave a low, impressed whistle.

Chel heard the wolfwhistle and turned at the sound. When she saw who it was, a tired look entered her eyes.

That made the smaller girl stop completely, taken aback by the overly hostile greeting. Or rather, dismissal. An odd look crossed her face, brows contracting as a hand came up to slid absent-mindedly along the back of her neck. For a second or two she just stood there, then, lips pressing into a thin like, she turned to leave again. One more unintentional ******** up. "Sorry." Maybe she should just stop trying. It didn't seem like these meetings ever seemed to go well.

If there was one thing that annoyed Chel more than resistance, it was compliance.
An arrow whizzed past Peyton's face, landed in a nearby dummy and crackled on the hay-stuffed fabric until it exploded.
"Hey. Fight me."

The daggers were in her hands before she even fully realized what had happened. An instinctual, automatic reaction to threat that was only half realized.
She blinked, staring at the arrow as it fizzled and popped, then turned slowly to face the former Sun.
"Well, if you insist."

Pivoting on her heel, Peyton kicked into a sprint, charging straight at the other girl with both daggers raised. Closing in, she'd jerk to one side, feinting, before bringing the curved blade of one dagger up at an angle across the taller girl's torso. HP: 60 DMG:9 CHG: 0/3

Chel had nearly expected Peyton to walk off in a huff, so when the smaller girl whipped around and came straight for her Chel was too surprised to block with Tenebrae. Then she grinned; Peyton was easily provoked it seemed.
Peyton didn't seem keen on talking and Chel wasn't about to engage. She was pissed for a lot of reasons, and while she didn't accept random violence as a way of venting, exercise was a good outlet. Chris was her normal punching bag because she didn't feel bad about hitting him, but Peyton would have to do.
Seeing as Peyton was engaging her in close combat, Chel didn't load another arrow, instead she spun in a half circle, dissipating the decorations and slashing her bow through the air like sword. In its simplified form it was much more amiable to physical damage.

Easily provoked indeed, but Peyton had never once said no to a fight, and she wasn't about to start now. She'd been expecting more projectiles. That was usually how it went when she fought anyone with a ranged weapon. A game a chase, where one tried to keep distance enough to fire off attacks, and she tried to prevent that, while taking advantage of being close to attack. It usually made for a more challenging fight, a more exhausting on, both parties working twice as hard. What she had not been expecting was for the weapon in Chel's hand to shift into something that could be useful in a close combat situation. Pale eyes widened at the new form, lips half parted in surprise as the bow connected with her shield. It had the girl jerking back, sliding in the dirt. "Well that's new." New and unexpected, but not unwelcome. It meant the dainty Sun wouldn't have to put in quite as much effort just to keep close. Her concentration could stay focused on pure offense. Snapping to the side, she came in for a second charge, and the curve of her left blade slithered across the side of Chel's shield in a fast slash. Then came back with a jerk of her wrist to bury into the taller girl's back. HP: 58 DMG: 15 CHG: 1/3

New, yet somehow still so decidedly disappointing. She couldn't beat Jack, couldn't beat Evan, couldn't win any fights except Chris and even then she suspected him of softening himself for her. It was terrifying to watch her premonitions come true, to see herself failing as she'd predicted. Maybe Jack was wrong and she'd never really be good at fighting.
That thought scared her. She'd always been the combative cousin, the pugnacious one. If she wasn't good at fighting, what was she good at?
"Not new," she retorted. Technically Tenebrae had always been there.
She slid around on her foot and tried to trip Peyton up, but the girl was too fast and all that resulted was a cloud of dirt. Instead of running, Chel used the dust and fired blindly into the cloud. Peyton was in there somewhere and one of her arrows was bound to hit.

deliberate or not, the cloud of dust the pair kicked up served Chel well. Peyton couldn't see the well enough to avoid the arrows fired by the other girl. One clipped her shoulder, a very minor nick, but the other sliced into her shield at her hip, pulling a soft wince from the dainty hunter as she retreated back from the dirt cloud. "New to me. Of course I haven't really seen much of your bow since we were trainees." Nor had she seen a weapon simplify itself in such a way. It was certainly a useful shift. Can you do that?< No, but you don't need me to, either.> Fair enough.Skirting around the settling dust, Peyton waited until she could see the taller girl again, then darted forward to deliver a double slash from wickedly curved blades. Chel took the lull in conversation to back up, trying to give herself space from Peyton and her killer daggers.
"Yeah well. Didn't have the scars and s**t neither." She was relatively quiet on the matter, surprisingly. Chel was normally a chatter box but she didn't feel much like taking.
