Still gingerly rubbing her face where it had slammed into the mirror and been bounced off as she tried to mirrorwalk (and failed), Chariklo cursed under her breath. Idiot! Of course she couldn’t use the mirrors to travel now. But old habits died hard. Still, she was grateful that no one had been around to see her slamming face first into the mirror before stumbling back and landing on her a**. Small mercies.
With a sigh, the tall Eternal closed her eyes and forced herself to think. Okay, so she couldn’t just dart through the mirrors anymore. She’d have to walk like a normal person. Normal senshi.
Whatever.
Well, there was no help for it. If she wanted to get to the church, she’d have to start walking now. Opening a window and looking carefully around, she decided it was safe enough to leave the apartment. Bless Orah for taking her in while she adjusted! Chariklo didn’t know what she would have done with the other woman’s help these last few days. Moving quickly from the building, Chariklo made a beeline for the church.
It was by no means a place she enjoyed going. It held too many painful memories. But tonight… after having kept her promise to Bianca and finally being free of the Chaos taint herself, well. Chariklo thought that it was only fitting that she visit the place where it had started.
After a while, the church loomed into view. Pausing, Chariklo had to remind herself that Bianca wasn’t here anymore. Bischofite wasn’t there waiting to pounce out at her from the shadows. The damage they’d caused had doubtless been repaired by now. But she had a goal in mind. The bell tower. She knew from experience that the bell was still there. And tonight, she was going to make it sing for Bianca.
Racing now towards her goal, she finally took to the rooftop road. And soon enough she was on the church. Just a little further, she thought. Climbing and scrambling, she winced as her newly healed scar tissue stretched with her exertions. And then, finally. Finally. She was pulling herself into the bell tower and sat underneath the massive bell, panting. After a few moments, she rolled to her feet and paced the floor under the bell. Reaching out she gave an experimental shove, smirking a little as the bell moved minutely.
“Well,” she said out loud, voice echoing and ting-ing off of the metal. “Let’s do this thing.”
It would take time for anyone to respond to bells ringing out of time. She had a good five to ten minute window. At least.
More than enough time.
Taking a deep breath, Chariklo braced her feet and shoved against the bell again and again, grinning as physics took over and the bell began to swing under it’s own momentum. She gave it a few more good shoves before leaving and disappearing into the night. Behind her, the bells continued to toll for Bianca, until they, too, faded into the night.
