It was always the same, the summer months meant that the daylight hours were longer, the dark hours shorter and so it was harder to lure prey into her swamps and marshes. It was good for the insects, she would listen to the hum, whine and buzz of them all as the sun dropped towards the horizon, and enjoy the cooling as the evening drew in and listened to what she considered to be music.
It meant that she had to move further and further away to find potential victims, which meant that her success rate dropped as the further she had to lure them, the more time they had to twig that they weren't in fact following some strange little spirit. So it was with some tension in her muscles and a slight feeling of resignation that she was nestled in a copse, wrapped in slightly moist creeper plants in the shadows of the trees.
She looked out into the meadow that she could see from her hiding spot, her eyes blinking slowly as she waited patiently for a passing creature to notice the eerie little glow amongst the shadows.

This season had been good to Firebrand. The number of treasures he had squired into his possession was high. Either people were lazy with their belongings in summer, or he was getting better at procuring the objects he desired to be his. It had made him over zealous, in thinking that he could steal just about anything! That is, until he got lost...
Firebrand huffed, unfamiliar with his surroundings, or how he even got here! His sense of direction was not his strong suit. The mood for finding a new trinket or bobble, had soured into one of frustration and discontent.
Wandering into a nearby meadow, he looked around, several times, trying to find his bearing. Nothing seamed at all familiar. Firebrand looked to one side, with furrowed eyebrows, and shifted his eyes about. Then looked to the other side, moving his chin further back with his gaze, to peer in the direction he came. Keeping his head back, he looked forward again, with only his eyes.
The skin on his legs and tail, rippled with his growing frustration.
Well shoot. He thought to himself as he looked back forward. Firebrand sighed, not knowing which way to go now!
Minutes past. Firebrand stared in the same spots, almost as if looking right through them. Deciding which way to go, made him uneasy, though he didn't know why.
Then he saw it. A glow in the shadows of the trees not too far off. Once he noticed it, it couldn't go unseen. Had that glow been there the entire time? He had been less than observant, caught up in trying to figure out where he was.
With a tilt of his golden horn, he stared at it curiously. Could there be light hitting something, valuable? Found treasure weren't as nice as stolen ones. In fact, he couldn't think of a time he found a lost object rather than being the one to make it lost. "Hmm." his mouth turned curious at the thought.

Blink.
Blink.
Adria wasn't sure how long she would stay there, the creeper plants were slowly drying out and she knew they would start to crack and then crumble so her disguise would fall away. It seemed that it would be another day of not finding a victim, and she was almost about to give up for the day and go hide in the swamp until night, when she heard what sounded like something approaching.
Something big.
A little shiver of anticipation ran through the mare, and as she couldn't yet see the noise maker, she would have to rely on the sounds it was making to gauge the distance as she didn't want to try and look otherwise she would expose herself. As the noise grew louder, she shuffled back, moving her spot and still slowly blinking. After a while she had to turn otherwise she knew she may trip, and she did so very slowly, making it look as if the glowing light had strangely faded, hoping that by now whomever was following her eyes was curious enough to keep going whilst she found a new hiding spot.

Firebrand casually walked in the direction of the coin colored glow. Curiosity beckoned him forward, as to what kind of beautiful cold precious metal, lay in wait for him. A treasure hunter, not something he usually found himself acting as. Stealing seemed more enjoyable, than finding it on his own. However, if it was just laying around, who was he to argue! It still originally belonged to someone else, yes. In a sense, it's still stealing. That currency you find on the ground, and glee over your stroke of luck. Could you not leave it there, in case the original owner returned? Not this stallion!
A devilish smile pulled him closer and closer, or rather, he kept following the twinkling light. He thought he was getting closer. That is, until the light slipped out, fading into the shadows. Firebrand furrowed his eyebrows, and slowed his pace. This was no treasure. He frowned, and stopped. Someone was either messing with him, or he should lay off the booze for a bit. Even though he was sober.
Eyes darted this way and that, as he decided what to do. Now, he was curious where the glow had come from, if not from coin or treasure? Hesitantly, guarded, he pushed on. At the least, he wanted to make sure he wasn't going crazy!
He craned his neck about as he walked, looking down, and around. Still not sure what was going on, or what he was even pursuing at this point in the game.

With some circuituous movements and going carefully, Adria had managed to catch a proper sight of the creature she was luring. The swamp would be pleased, though the prey was large and it had caused her a momentary pause as she reevaluated how she would subdue the Soquili so as to drag it into the murky waters.
At one point she felt that she might be losing the attention of the Soquili, who she eventually realised was a stallion, her nose filled with his scent by this time, so she stayed still for a good while, almost to the point of discovery, before slowly blinking and then backing into the shadows, also making a bit of noise in the hopes that she could keep his curiosity piqued.
She knew she would have to be more careful as time went on and they grew closer to her home, the surroundings were changing, turning from woodland into swampland and she would be more exposed, though it also meant that she could take to the water to hide and she preferred that to lurking in the dry air.

Firebrand stifled a laugh, when he heard the noise in the underbrush, as the object clearly moved. What in the hay was going on here? Golden eyebrows furrowed, and his mouth twisted to one side. "Alright then...." he said, as if in reply to the oddity that he was caught up pursuing. Obviously, it was a someone, and not a something. Could be a small animal, trying to evade his pursuit? No. It seemed too strategic for a dull witted creature of the forest. Firebrand gave a snort, mulling over his options. He fanned his wings and looked to the canopy of dark trees above him. Flying out of here in a pinch, if needed, was not an option. He would only kill his wings trying to get through branch and bark. What if it was a Purewalker luring him into a trap? It seemed unlikely. They would of killed him by now, no doubt. If he had to fight his way out, he would. Though he would prefer to avoid violence altogether.
He sat there for a long while, pondering whether to go, or to continue. As it seemed he wouldn't follow, and the twinkle about to fade, Firebrand trotted after it. When woodland turned to moist soft ground, he cussed and began to run towards the light. The sickening squish of mud, making him a little angry at whoever was playing this game. He intended to try and catch up with them, and confront them. They had already wasted this much of his time.CitrusCupcake I'm so dang slow at rp..D=
