He was so bored and mama said he could go exploring. Of course he figured she'd meant for him to stick to close proximity of where they all tended to call 'home'. But it was boring today! And mama was out visiting her ocean family - something that was totally wicked! - while the great spirits only knew where father was. Maybe recovering from the tail plucking he and Virus had done? Probably. And Virus... his brother was out somewhere. Or at least Nefy hadn't been able to find him.

So he was going exploring and would try to be back before mama.

Or at least that was the initial plan. But this totally awesome thing was happening right before the foals very eyes and he was just gonna have to tell everyone about it! He watched as the fallen tree rolled a little more before coming to a halt. There were no squished critters or other soquili, thankfully. It just wasn't very often that the foal happened across a tree in the act of falling over! The sound had been so loud it made his ears hurt.

"I bet there were big spiders in there. Or... or a huge stash of acorns!" Nefy snickered at the ideas forming in his mind. Oh yes! Maybe the squirrel had put acorns in the home of a den of spiders! And the resulting battle was the tree falling! That sounded totally awesome.

He wheeled around and began to prance excitedly along, looking for some gullible fool he could tell his twisted piece of gossip to.

Creeping ever closer to the edge of the meadow, Aisling pretended that she wasn’t purposefully headed in that direction. It was a slow process, getting out of view, but she was determined to do just that. Slowly and carefully, but seemingly by accident, Aisling ended up next to a break in the trees at the edge. As her watcher looked away briefly, she darted into the trees and disappeared from view. Freedom. She knew she would hear about it when she got back but it was worth it. Things had been so boring and Aisling was going to go find some entertainment.

Moving as quickly as she could away from the meadow Aisling started to hum to herself and mentally congratulate herself for a job well done. As she walked though, she began to realize that maybe this wasn’t going to find her entertainment. The woods were not full of interesting things today. Everything was the same as before. Boring. So very boring. Aisling wanted excitement.

The thundering of something startled her out of the lull that she was in. She shied sideways and looked wildly around. But nothing was coming at her. No giants, no death monsters, no… this could make a good story. But first she needed to go see what had actually caused the noise. Aisling had learned that the grains of truth that she wove into what she told others made them believe the stories more. Aisling veered to the left and began to trot, tail waving, with enthusiasm.

As luck would have it, he almost - quite literally - ran into someone he could share his story with! The colt whinnied in surprise, rearing a little and dancing to the side to avoid colliding with the... strange filly he'd just found. Nefarious stared at her in obvious fascination.

"Oh my gosh! Do you really see with all those eyes? I bet it's pretty awesome! And look at all those wings!" The colt stepped curiously towards the filly, looking her over carefully. She had six wings! His measely little pair were clearly nothing in comparison.

Oh man did he have the best story already forming in his mind to tell Virus when he got back home! And mama too. She'd think it was totally awesome. Which reminded him...

"Did you hear that loud echoing thunder just now? I totally saw it." He nodded like he was the coolest foal. "CRAAAAAASH!" Nefy tried to mimic the sound. "There was this tree back there. It was pretty awesome. One of them big ones, y'know? Anyways, there were these acorns falling out. More like raining down. And all these spiders trying to take back their tree. But squirrels like to fill trees up with acorns. They just picked the wrong tree." He paused, catching his breath. "Poor tree."

His wings were flapping enthusiastically, the colt glancing at the filly to see if she believed him. He could show her proof of the fallen tree! If she didn't for some reason think his story true.

Aisling stopped abruptly before being run into. Then she was rudely greeted by a colt. He didn’t have to rear and dance as if she was something terrifying. His reaction to her more peculiar aspects did a little to mollify her. So when she finally answered, after he prattled on about the tree that she hade been going to tell stories about, it was with a bit more grace and kindness in her voice. A bit. Maybe. If you looked for it. She at least thought she was being kind.

“Of course I see with all my eyes,” Aisling said as if it was the silliest question ever. “Just as I fly with all my wings.” She grinned at him now. “But that isn’t the neatest thing I can do…if you are nice and thoughtful, I might show you.” She said slyly. It usually worked on strangers to get them to at least pretend to be courteous about her appearance. It wasn’t that she was self-conscious about her appearance. She thought she looked quite lovely in fact. It was that it was so tiring to listen to the same statements over and over. If she could convince the others to not mention things, then she could get on with her storytelling.

Because this colt had taken from her the story she was going to tell, even if his version was rather unbelievable if she did say so, Aisling decided to do the next best thing. “No?” She said in a puzzled voice. “What thunder? “ Looking bewildered up at the sky and then back at the colt. “Oh, a falling tree! No, I did not notice anything of the sort. It must have been a very small tree.” She a shake of her head she laughed a little. “How sad for the squirrels that their tree was so small. Or was it the spiders’ tree?” She gave a perplexed look to the other foal. He would have to do better than that to get her to gasp with awe.

“Perhaps…” she began thoughtfully, “there was no tree…” she paused and peered at the colt out of one eye. “What sort of tree would it have been if there had in fact been a tree?” This she said really quickly in the hope of confusing him. Huffing at the colt Aisling began to trot along again. She flicked her tail at him a little too as she passed, trying to not quite hit him. “Really of all the silly things to say…” She was acting as if she didn’t care, but Aisling was rather put out actually about someone else stealing her story fodder. Of all the rude and inconsiderate things to do!

That was so cool! Nefarious just continued to stare at the filly in fascination that he didn't bother to mask. He was a young colt and that sort of thing didn't cross his mind. "Soooo cool!" He said with envy. But mostly, he was envious of all her wings! Somewhere, in his little envious heart, he wished his wings were big and powerful, like this fillies looked to be. "I bet you can fly so high with'em too!" He exclaimed, flapping his own little wings. "I can't do nothin' with mine." Nefy added sadly.

And there was more she could do? Now the filly had his attention. His ears perked forward and he tilted his head curiously at her. Wait... what the heck was she blabbering about? Being nice and thoughtful? Huh? Sounded like something mama would have said to his father. He pursed his lips in thought. "Then what's the neatest thing?" He finally asked, unable to help himself. Information. That was what he loved most. Info that he could twist into his own version. And share it with someone. Like it had all been his idea from the start! Of course, it was usually Virus he was telling all his secrets to.

He looked up at the clear sky and then back at the filly. And with each comment she made, his ears slowly flattened and an annoyed look replaced the curious one. Fillies! They had no appreciation for the hard work little colts put into their tales. And now this one was calling him a liar?! "There was too a tree! That sounded like thunder and had acorns." He huffed right back at her, scowling as she trotted along.

Oh no. Nope. She wasn't getting away with calling him a liar! There was no proof that his story wasn't real. And... there was proof that some of it was true. "In fact, I'll show ya! But only if you convince me that you can do something neat. Like you said you could." He was already trotting along beside her. Where was his brother when he needed him? So they could team up against this one. Or maybe he could team up with her...? He wrinkled his nose and waited for her answer.
