2:00....2:01....2:02...

Yup. Today was so slow, Peyton wondered if anybody would notice if he closed up shop early. The tourists apparently did not want frozen yogurt today, and his boss was back in the town, nowhere near here. Everything was stocked and cleaned; the register had been skimmed and he had even taken the time to wipe down the outside windows. There was nothing left for him to do, but Peyton knew that he would never actually close the shop early. He needed his paycheck way more than he needed a social life.

So, after only a few seconds more of consideration, he pulled out his phone. He had finally been able to afford one, and he was so proud that he could cover the monthly bill that came alongside it as well. And since he had not even a single customer, Peyton figured that now would be the time to slack off a little. Standing behind the pay counter, he brought up the local news, thankful that Xogurt had wifi, letting him save his data.

David was feeling rather bored, and kind of hungry at the moment. He wanted something to cool himself off in this warm weather. He came across a newly opened yogurt place, curious, he entered the building rather silently, his steps making no noise, and strangely enough the door as well being just as silent as he was, and entered the rather empty store. Tilting his head a bit, he walked in his normal silent pace to the pay counter where a man was doing something on his phone and hadn't even noticed the boy. Feeling quite mischievous, he smiled lightly and spoke to the man, "I didn't know workers could play on their phones while working." He said with a smile as he looked at the man, wondering what kind of reaction he would have.

Jumping at the sound of a man's voice, he looked up quickly. Immediately, he let out a small sigh of relief; this wasn't his boss. Granted, he wondered how upset his boss could even get considering the fact that there was nothing left to keep Peyton busy. However, this was a customer. One who smiled too much for his tastes. "Business is slow." he stated simply, unwilling to provide any more details. Peyton was clearly reserved in his manner, like a man who had already gotten enough trouble out of life and didn't want to deal with any more. Several seconds passed where he put away his phone, choosing instead to just lean casually on the counter at his side. "Uh, would you like to sample anything?" he asked after another moment, remembering that it was his job to get people buying stuff.

David couldn't help but let out a light laugh at the noticeable jolt of surprise as the man looked at him quickly before letting out what seemed to be a sigh of relief. The man answered his question with a comment that made sense, "True, I'd be bored too if I were alone somewhere." The boy replied with a light frown and nod as he agreed with the man. A few seconds passed after the man had put away his phone before he asked David if he wanted to sample anything. "Ah, not really, but I would like to order the stracciatella yogurt if possible. It's pretty warm outside today, so I figured I would get something cool that wasn't ice cream." He replied with a light smile and nod as he gave his order.

Peyton gave a small nod to his customer, pulling out a cup to hand over. "It's on the second machine from the right. I'd suggest getting a little strawberry flavor to go with it." His tone was polite as he pointed to the right lever, feeling more at ease now that he was just doing his job. "Yeah, I think the weather is keeping everybody indoors." he added, letting the man get his yogurt and whatever toppings he'd like. They had a ton of choices, from chocolate chips to cheesecake bites to caramel sauce.

{ooc: So the shop is a self serve one, where you pile on the yogurt and toppings and then it's weighed for the price~}

David smiled lightly and took the cup, "Yup, thank you, but I'm not a big fan of mixing chocolate with strawberries. And yeah, the weather is pretty rough today, though it stop me from exploring the town." He replied honestly as he headed over to the machines as he started to whistle a song, if one had ever heard the original song, they would notice immediately how accurate he was whistling it without any cutoffs and no hesitation in the whistling. He filled up the cup to the brim with the straccietella yogurt as he whistled. He soon came back to the counter after grabbing a spoon by the machines, "How much do I owe?" He asked cheerfully, excited to eat the yogurt.

"So, you're new around here?" Peyton was curious, since he was far from being settled in himself. The town was growing rapidly, but there still a clear sense of community among the townies; it almost felt like distrust, but considering how much he had seen over the course of his life, Peyton could hold no blame against them.

The sound of whistling returned his attention to the store. It was a song he had never heard, but clearly would have taken some practice to get it right. As the man approached the counter, Peyton placed the cup on the scale beside his register. Noticing that the cup had been filled to the brim, he was careful to hand the yogurt back to the customer as he gave the total. "Eight steel killibs."

"Yeah, I am rather new around here. I just moved here with a good friend of mine." David replied with a light smile and a nod as he watched the male take the cup and weight it. He soon got the cup of yogurt back and was told the price. "Yup, here you go." The boy replied with a nod as he got the money out from his pocket and handed him the exact amount. He took the cup of yogurt in one hand and used the other hand with the spoon and started eating it. "Oooh, this is really good, as expected." The boy said cheerfully to the male as he ate some more of the yogurt.

Raising a brow, Peyton wondered who the friend was. A good friend, willing to move to this mini city? "Seems they couldn't handle the heat as well as you." he joked, since whoever the friend was, they were nowhere in sight. He took the money, depositing it in the cash register before swiftly shutting the drawer. The printer went off automatically, prompting him to ask, "Would you like your receipt?" It was a mandatory question that he had to ask everyone, just to ensure that there would be no confusion later. Based on the man's answer, Peyton either handed it over, or crumpled it into a ball before tossing it in the trashcan.

"I'm glad you like it. The boss orders the stuff made from real fruit, or like that one, real chocolate." It was a perk of being in a touristy area; fresher ingredients delivered often, at a slightly more expensive rate but it seemed like travelers were always willing to spend a bit extra. "How do you like Janhall so far?" he asked after a moment. He wondered idly if he had stumbled upon the town at random, or maybe he had heard of its lack of veil?

"Actually, I think she might be flirting with a guy right now." David answered honestly with a light chuckle. "I don't need the receipt." He added as he watched the man toss it into the trash bin. He continued to eat from the yogurt at a slow and casual pace, enjoying each spoonful, and nodded a bit at his comments about it being made from real chocolate. At his question about Janhall, he couldn't help but smile. "I really love it here, and to think that it was so close to the Orphanage I grew up at. Who would have thought it, you know?" He replied, speaking about the Orion Orphanage that was only a few kilometers outside of the town.

Peyton rose a brow at the mention of a 'she,' slightly surprised that this man had decided to move into a new town with a woman; clearly they weren't together, or he doubted they were since this customer seemed perfectly alright with the notion of her flirting with another man. He supposed it wasn't all that rare of a situation; where Peyton came from, people lived together for all sorts of reasons. He had just gotten accustomed to how the old townies viewed things.

Maybe this man would bring a bit of fun into this little area. Most of the time, things seemed so serious, even at this shop on the beach. While Peyton wasn't necessarily looking to be a thrill seeker, he did miss some little things about his old life; like the rush of adrenaline he got when pulling off a particularly large heist...

Hearing the man speak again, he drew his thoughts back to the present, a small smile appearing automatically on his face to hide the fact that he had zoned out for a moment. "You grew up at Orion's?" asked Peyton, honestly surprised to hear such. "It really is a small world. I've never been over that way, but sometimes the kids come in here for special things. Like birthdays."

David smiled a bit as he thought about the Orion Orphanage. "Yeah, I did. But that was during the years before the veil went down here. I started working when I turned 18 last year and have been helping support the orphanage. So, it's not a surprise that since then that they are now able to properly celebrate birthdays since then. I also bring by books and stuff for them." He explained cheerfully to Peyton. It was obvious that the boy truly considered that place a home, and it was clear that he didn't really care that he didn't have parents. "Well, I did promise old Orion that I would help out the best I could when I was younger. Actually, why is it that Orion never seems to age, he looks like he's still 20." He added with a light laugh as he spoke about the owner of the Orphanage who never seemed to age.

Peyton continued to smile lightly, listening as the man explained his time at the orphanage and how he had made a promise to help out when he was older. The mention of how Orion himself had remained looking so younger caused a small shrug. Honestly, he had wondered that in the past, but when you've lived among magical creatures your entire life, you just assume that magic is behind the matter; even if the magical comes from the race itself. "It could be any number of reasons." he said, speaking his thought aloud. "Where I come from, half the city never looked like they aged." Peyton chuckled, recalling a neighbor of his that looked like she was a child, but was actually centuries older than himself. "He might even be a shifter, like me." he said with a grin, morphing his face to look like Orion's. After a couple of seconds, he morphed back, allowing his default appearance to show once again.

Krolik walked out with Primrose, he would've paid for them. It wouldn't have been such a big deal. Once they left, he could just feel the tension as soon as Primrose spoke. By her asking if his plan had worked, his cheeks instantly flushed and his ears began to twitch. "P-Plan ? You must be mistaken," Krolik sighed, "It was no my intention to take you there. I thought it was some sort of antique shop." His hears began to twitch as he looked around, trying his best to avoid eye contact. Maybe I could take her somewhere and try to forget about this.

"Erm, follow me." He unknowingly grabbed her hand before walking off in a random direction. He was glancing at each store, trying his best to figure out where to take her. The day was sorta hot, why not for ice cream or some kind of frozen treat ? The two stopped in front of a store called Xogurt. "Would you like to stop here for something to eat ?" Krolik asked her with a small smile. With a small glance down, he finally noticed he was holding the faun's hand. He didn't want to be rude and jerk it away, but he didn't want Primrose to get the wrong idea. Nothing seems to be working in my favor today.. He internally sighed and walked in with her, still holding her hand.
