Cirrus was very quietly having a panic attack. Huddled up in the sheets and blankets he had just pulled out of the cupboard, the Pegasus wheezed in one panicked breath after the other, while staring into the empty space his linen had left behind. They were gone. Mr. Snuggles, Ruffles, Coconut and even Baskerville. Gone. Wandered off, left, disappeared, abandoned him. Had she taken them? Or had they merely grown tired of watching him playact with a murderess? It wasn’t as if he’d taken the time to talk to them. He’d simply stashed them away and hoped they wouldn’t be found. Now they were gone and he’d lost another part of himself. Soon there would be nothing left, just an empty shell. LOLLI qAq I was in the mood for it. ;D

At first she'd simply meant to stage his stuffed animals in different grisly deaths all over his home, but the more she'd looked at them the more and more she wanted to do something ... unique. Less about the shock value and more about the subtle reminder that he was hers; which meant that what was his also belonged to her. The door to the cottage burst open and La Llorona trotted in with all of Cirrus' toys following behind; held aloft by her "magic". All but one. A certain black rabbit was sitting on her shoulder and wrapped up in her mane. "Oh, you delightful rabbit," she practically sang, "you're too much! Tell me something else about him."

If Cirrus could have gotten any whiter, now was the moment. He was rapidly alternating between wanting to vomit and wanting faint, the sight of La Llorona with his beloved friends too much to bear. "Oh no, oh nonononono," he half rose, tangled in sheet and took a trembling step forward. He had stopped looking at the mare and was staring at Baskerville with a look of hopeless desperation. "Nonono stop, stop talking to her. You don’t mean it. You don’t. You can’t like her."

La Llorona's eyes narrowed the tiniest bit and she turned her head to nuzzle against the rabbit. This was interesting. "Oh, but he does Little Ghost! He's told me all about you! He was not pleased having to live in that cupboard." She took a step closer into the house and smiled coldly. "Maybe they'd like it better in bed with me?"

"You don't understand," he pleaded desperately. "I was trying to protect you. It was better for you in there. She won't love you." It was clear that he believed La Llorona was really conversing with his stuffed rabbit. "Baskerville," he whined. He should have known it would end up like this. The rabbit had probably called to her, he was probably the one behind this whole scenario.

Ah-ha! She had a name finally. Well, at least the one. She continued to nuzzle into the rabbit while she side-eyed Cirrus. "Oh," she answered, "but I do love him! He's so soft and he talks to me in ways you won't." She took in a deep breath with her nose buried in the black rabbit and practically purred. "Besides, my dear, he smells of you." ... FEAR. She was supposed to say fear. The hell?

Cirrus finally looked back at La Llorona, after tearing his gaze away from Baskerville. He struggled with the decision he needed to make, felt the words like bile on his tongue but did it anyway. "Then you should keep him," the words tumbled out, "but let me have the others. Give me the others." They were innocent. They wouldn't survive with her.

Her throat tightened. She could give him what she wanted and ... keep the rabbit. La Llorona did not like the way that made her feel. Her option, though, was to toss all of them at him carelessly and walk away. Her eyes moved from Cirrus to the rabbit on her shoulder and back. "This game isn't fun anymore." His other stuffed animals floated in his direction, but the rabbit stayed firmly on her body. Ugh. She felt so stupid.

Baskerville had always been a heavy weight. He was the one that whispered terrible things in the dark. Even so, Cirrus had loved him. It was with guilty relief that he gave him up. Cirrus finally managed to untangle himself from the sheets and caught his stuffed animals in the air, holding them to his chest in a desperate embrace. He curled around them on the floor and whispered a quiet, 'thankyou.'

She said nothing as she turned and headed back to where she slept, but once she was sure he couldn't see her anymore she buried her face in Baskerville. "No," she whispered. "Thank you."
