K'gan completed his mad dash with a leap catching one of the larger heardbeast by its right horn, both hands clamped around the arching protrusion he used his momentum to swing himself and the large creature around in an arch. His feet skidded across the grass and made him victim of his own body weight, but lack of control had never bothered the black rider in the past, today was no different the move still succeeded in turning the beast. As usual it was half skill and half dumb luck he wasn't trampled when he released his hold.
K'gan whooped in victory as the maneuver had the desired effect, the creature had been turned and sent thundering back towards the large break in the wooden pen.

The effort had also seen K'gan dropped to the ground but he wasn't hurt and he sprang neatly back onto his feet with a gymnastic flare. As he came back upright his eyes scanned the chaos that remained.
Trekth! There! One's getting away.

Trekth had taken to the air to aid his rider in recapturing the run away live stock, herding with feigned snaps and bellows of aggression. Neither K'gan or his dragon had though to inform anyone else in the weyr of the would-be escape so that the job could be completed more easily an effectively. They were both having far to much fun.

K'gan's excitement and enthusiasm fed back through Trekth which was amplified by his own thrill passing back through his rider like a terrifying feed back loop that made them both idiots. It was similar to a pair of dogs barking at each other, neither wanting to be the first to relent while at the same time upping volume and ferocity in attempts to outdo each other.

Before the chase had truly began K'gan had done his best to create a temporary barricade over the break in the fence. It was formed out of old heavy fishing nets weighed down with rocks and logs.
Each time the pair managed to round up a small group of three or four Heard beast K'gan would race back to it and drop the net to let Trekth chase the group back through. They had quickly learned any bigger groups wouldn't fit and ended up scattering again before reaching the goal so it left plenty of the roaming creatures running panicked .

Plenty of fun.

A large shadow passed over the pens. It probably didn't help with the effort as the animals panicked more. A whoosh of wings went over K'gan as a large herdbeast was lifted off the ground by a large gold dragon. She had no intention of returning her catch to the pens though. Killakeeth landed on a nearby ledge and killed the struggling animal with one bite. 'Dinner and a show', the dragon drawled to both riders and Trekth.

The rider of the dragon strolled up casually. Bright red hair, in its familiar braid rested down her left shoulder. Vosin leaned casually on a post out of the way. "You could ask if they need help Killa. Since you sent the whole herd into a panic now." The other rider did appear to be enjoying himself though, and she didn't want to take away all his fun.

The dragon blew out a rude sound at the mention of helping. She'd much rather just watch if she could get away with it. 'You don't really want my help do you Trekth?' Killa asked innocently.

K'gan had luckily just finished closing the gate on the latest group of recaptured heard beast when the gold swooped over and snatched up a meal with deadly accuracy. Trekth being quick as he was had the fore thought to land before the path that lead to the living area. A great bellow ensuring that the scattered and panicked livestock was prevented from stampeding in the direction of the weyr's and risk running over and other unfortunate early risers. Though that meant that a few were pushed towards the jungle.

"We can handle it." K'gan answered confidently. Trekth turned his swirling eyes onto the gold and answered with his usual earnest honesty. "I think you would enjoy it. It's a very good way to stretch the wings." The black told her. "I can share."

K'gan had been eyeing the remaining free runners while the dragons conversed, a serious press to his lips which suddenly turned to an an impish grin. He turned to his black and something silent passed between them before Trekth nodded his head. Yes, yes we should do that.

Trekth shook out his wings and quickly launched back into the air, gliding low . K'gan meanwhile climbed part of the unbroken fence, standing as high up as he could while remaining stable with his arms held aloft. The first part of the plan was flawless. K'gan snatched Trekth's foot as he glided past and lifted the young rider into the air with him, curling his claws around his hands for added security.

Gaining more altitude K'gan held fast to his black until they were directly over one of the larger heardbeast. After a three count K'gan dropped from his dragons claws and landed on the back of the creature. Reaching forward he latched onto the horns and tried to turn the beast back to the en-closer. Unfortunately K'gan was a dunce in the fields of riding anything other than dragons. The poor heardbeat made a sharp sound of protest and almost instantly started to buck. To his credit K'gan clung fast for almost half a minute before he was flung free and into the grass. Trekth moving quickly to stand over his bonded before the enraged and unwitting stead could trample him. K'gan rolled onto his back laughing past the pain of his fresh bruises. "Well." he surmised neatly. "That didn't work."

The dragon took her time to leisurely crunched through a back leg. She swallowed her mouthful. Her tail twitched as she regarded the other dragon. 'It looks like a whole lot of work.' Her tone was disdainful. Work wasn't one of her priorities if she could avoid it. She was all for lounging back, eating her herdbeast and watching the black work the herds.

She watched approvingly as the dragon preempted the stampede toward the weyr. If only the gold had considered what her actions would mean for everyone else. Vosin drew her attention back as the pair started to move again. She wrinkled her brow as she tried to figure out what he was up to as he climbed up onto the fencing. It was a pretty good act the pair was putting on judging by the approval she felt from Killa. Vos couldn't help the slight inhale as the rider dropped from his dragon. Had there been an accident? No, she saw him land on the back of a beast. Oooo, she winced to herself as he was flung free.

His dragon didn't appear to be in any distress though when he was summarily dismounted, and she grinned as he got back up. "Perhaps you should stick to the traditional methods? I'll get Killa to help your dragon..." She paused as she groped for a name that was curiously dropped for her by Killa, 'Trekth Vosin'. "Trekth. You can I can work the gates while they herd them up for us." Much safer, and she should probably scold him for the stunt, but well she wasn't a weyrwoman. She leveled a gaze toward her lazy gold.

'C'mon you. Time for you to make up for the trouble you caused them.' Vos could feel the dragon wanting to rebel and firmly reinforced the order. They were going to help whether Killa wanted too or not. 'I'll let you have a second one if you do a competent job.' Best way to win her over was with a treat she'd learned over the Turns. The woman moved from her spot and went to stand near the entrance of the fence so she could open the gate easily.

Killa heaved a gusty sigh at the thought of work. Why did she have to help? The match of wills was quickly over as hers promised a second herdbeast. That would be worth the effort of rounding the others up. Quickly she gulped down the rest of her first catch, then leaned forward to simply roll off the ledge. She spread her wings wide and circled around to the outer edge. 'I will scare the farthest beasts in toward you Trekth. Be ready to guide them toward Ours.'

Really sometimes R'an thought that it wasn't possible to relax around the Weyr with everyone and their dragons and flits and all the memories... He sighed and shook his head as he took his sketchbook with him, intent on heading down to the lake to just sit for a while, maybe draw if his fingers wanted to work with him.

It was when he heard the commotion that his curiousity got the better of him and he followed to see.... a bunch of herdbeasts running around? He saw someone, possibly a rider, if the black dragon was anything to go by herding them back in their place and he saw what had happened, the fence had broken. Well shards, this kid wasn't doing very well to push them back. Though he was pretty fast.

R'an, as a former beasthandler, immediately wanted to help, if only because this kid could get killed doing this. He put his sketchbook in his pocket and was about to run up until he saw the gold come flying in. Oh would they help then?

It seemed it was only for a meal, though once he saw the kid use his dragon to fall ONTO the beast, he started to run, the kid was going to get trampled! His dragon was protecting him, but what about the others? Two large, scary dragons herding beasts who were terrified out of their minds? This wasn't going to be a quick job but R'an was certain he could keep anyone from getting hurt. "Hey!" He called out as he ran to the kid's side first, up close, he realized he wasn't a kid at all, just looked young. He maybe was R'an's age. "Hey, do you have a rope or anything?" He asked, looking at the beasts still yet to be caught. "Using dragons is just going to scare them, unless you have a rope to catch them safely. I'm R'an by the way." He said rather quickly and maybe a bit rudely but he would apologize later. "I used to be a beasthandler, I think I can help."

At that moment, Syriacuth's voice reached him ,[i]'Do you want help?' He asked. 'No, I got it, but you can come watch, maybe you can sit by the lake with me afterwards.' He could feel the blue rolling his jeweled eyes before agreeing and from his rooms, the rather large blue took to the air. He circled above both the gold and the black once before landing nearly 100 ft away, far enough to watch, but close enough to help R'an if needed. 'Be careful and don't get hurt.'

'I'll try Syria.' He responded, still waiting for the blackrider's reply.

Syriacuth turned his attention to the dragons, staying out of their way. He tilted his head, laying down but staying in a ready position to jump into the air if necessary. He had missed the stunt with the black dropping his rider but he could see the gold flying now, she seemed to be readying to herd the animals towards the black. 'Hard at work milady?' He asked in his normal flirty tone used with all the female dragons. To the black, he tilted his head the other way, 'So what caused this?' He asked, curious as his rider had been.

K'gan looked up at his dragon in silent thanks. He knew that Trekth always had his back, he would never see him hurt though they both reveled in the daily cuts and bruises that K'gan sustained when he freely shared the small aches with his dragon, not because of any sadistic or masochistic fetish but because the feeling of physical sensitization was proof they were alive and evidence of their victory against the day. Trekth understood, though K'gan wasn't sure there was another person in the weyr that could, it didn't matter. For a brief moment K'gan put his arms either side of the large wedge shaped head and rested his own forehead softly between Trekth's eyes. The black closed his eyes and crooned in soft pleasure at the contact before they broke apart again and K'gan turned to the gold rider.

"Perhaps you're right." He agreed reluctantly. It was still early morning but it would be best to get the frightened animals squared away and secure before the rest of the weyr rose to the day and they pair wen't getting anywhere very fast on their own. Three or four heard beast at a time after a considerable amount of chasing only made a small dent in the heard that provided most of the weyr's needs.

Trekth had been listening with his head lowered to the gold rider. He nodded and lumbered back towards the queen. Staying grounded while he found the best position.

K'gan too had started to move to a fresh post when he heard the hail from the blue rider. He turned his usual grin of greeting firmly in place and his dark brown hair sticking up at all angels making him look even more childish. "That's great. I bet we could use someone that actually knows what they are doing." He declared shooting a look at Vosin. "Rope? Ahh, no, but I think there is some in the beast shed though." He told him pointing at the small wooden building built to hold the feed and other necessary supplies for the livestock.

Trekth greeted the blue with warm pulses of welcome before looking over at a large branch which could also have been a small tree by it's size. Even so it hadn't proved a hard to move for a dragon. "High winds last night blew that onto the fence."
It hadn't helped that the wooden fence had been victim to a creeping rot from the inside out that had let it snap easily under the pressure. After that the remaining barricade had been unable to support the weight of the aggressive branch alone.

Killakeeth let herself settle to the ground as her wings kicked up twigs and dirt into the air. She folded her wings to her back as she snorted at the blue's comment. 'Preferably not.' The dragon watched the riders a moment listening to them. To all present she sent her brilliant idea, 'I vote we just eat them all. That way we don't have to put them back and they won't be scared for too long.' She arched her neck and crooned. It solved all the problems!

Vosin nodded to the third rider who came to join. She was interested to learn he was a beasthandler. "A rope? How would a rope be safer?" She asked curiously. The dragons seemed the better bet to her personally as they could easily get trampled if they continued on as R'an had been. Vos laughed and shook her head at R'an, "true, but don't look at me. I'm weyr bred and born." Her green eyes twinkled with mischief. When her dragon spoke up though, she gave an amused exasperated sigh and rolled her eyes.

"Except then you wouldn't be able to get off the ground at all, and we wouldn't have anything to eat later." Not to mention she wasn't sure even three dragon could put away the amount of beasts that'd gotten loose. However, Vosin wasn't going to ask them to try.

He looked at the beast shed and then at the gold rider. "To catch them and lead them into the pen. Maybe even use as a sort of makeshift whip to get them moving in that direction." He replied, though maybe the dragons might be easier. He had never herded like that before it was usually with trained canines or runner beasts or a whip and a rope.

Syriacuth lifted his front up. He liked the idea of eating them but not over eating, he didn't want to be stuck on the ground. He looked at the black and relayed the information to R'an about how the pen broke.

K'gan turned his head between the two riders as they exchanged worded options his own brain ticking over as he listened. Trekth followed him closely, ever the faithful puppy as he left the gate to walk over to the beast shed and pull out several lines of rope.

"How about we have the dragons take up perimeter so the heard beasts don't run towards the rest of the weyr or into the jungle, then once they have calmed down a bit and stopped panicking we should be able to heard them together right?" He looked towards R'an for confirmation but even the usually clueless black rider knew that staying within their group was natural instinct to the beasts.

Trekth grumbled quietly at being put at the edge of the action but he could see the sense in it.

Killakeeth hummed and watched the riders. Regretfully the others didn't appreciate her idea. She glanced at the other dragons. Her wings flicked against her flanks. 'Back on guard duty,' she joked with the other dragons.

She tilted her head as R'an explained the use of the rope. "I guess that would work if you can get close enough to put it on them." Personally she wasn't sure she wanted to try. It wasn't her area of experience, but she'd help if she could. Vos glanced at the nervous herdbeasts who were looing and rolling their eyes.

The woman stared at the problem the group faced. If they had more people it could be easier. Her mind turned the problem over. There had to be an easier way. Suddenly an idea struck her. "Oh! How about we lure them back in?! Like bringing a flit back to you. Are they fed treats or something?" She looked eagerly at the other two.

Kalendol sat perched on Kynigoth's broad back, watching from high above as the others struggled with the herd beasts. Should we join them? I want to hurry to Jamarin. Kalendol asked her inquisitive beast with a gentle thump on the creature's glistening side.

<Is it your wish? I suppose we could offer some help to them. After all, we're working together, are we not?> Kynigoth grimaced mentally but began a slow decent towards the others and the herd beasts. As the pair approached lower, Kalendol found herself frowning. Herdbeasts were hard to handle clearly. Especially when dragons were among them.

As the green dragon settled herself, she trumpeted towards the Gold Killakeeth and her rider. They were from the same hatching after all, so weren't these types of things mandatory? <Guard duty? What is it we're trying to accomplish?> The green asked carefully, regarding her larger clutch mate with an intrigued expression.

Kalendol immediately jumped from Kynigoth's back, unconcerned with the injuries she could face. "Hey everyone. Need an extra set of hands?" She asked cheekily, looking at the herdbeast with an expression of amusement.
