Slidr walked in a daze for what felt like hours. Several times the street blurred and sidewalk tilted causing him to fall into a blue USPS mail box or storefront window. If anyone did take notice of his drunken looking state they didn’t say anything and instead gave him a wide berth in lieu of asking what was up or if he needed help.

Had he not of dropped his bag who knows where when the monster first started to pursue him, Slidr would have called an ambulance but be as it may all he could do at this point was find some place that was still open and ask to use a phone.

Help… help please… Words left unspoken as his feet continued to shuffle forward at a slow pace. First the creature, then the appearance of an anomaly he now held loosely in his left hand.

Strange things had happened in his life, but few things topped this. An icicle in late spring and a new wardrobe to boot; not that he fully knew what his new attire entailed, but the fur trimmed hood and black finger-less gloves were a bit hot in this unforgiving night.

As Slidr struggled to remain conscious as the gash on his lower back continued to bleed, darkening his new set of clothes an almost blackish color when not under the direct light of a street lamp. His thoughts felt sluggish and mind full of cotton till a hissing cat fight behind a pair of garbage cans startled him anew.

Acting out of instinct from the former fight, he let out a yell then swung his weapon out wide thinking that fox faced centipede had returned for round two only to be thrown off balance as his foot rolled sideways and slid off the curb. “Son of a b***h,” he muttered under his breath having thankfully caught himself on the back end of a SUV parked just outside a row of brownstone homes. Thank God the alarm didn’t go off because he hit the rear bumper pretty hard.

It took a sizeable amount of willpower to right himself once more, however, once he did the Page of Mercury regretted it almost instantly. The blood which rushed to his head caused him to swoon and nearly throw up all over the sidewalk, he needed to sit… or lay down. Yes, laying down would be nice.

Slidr glanced sideways, and for the first time since running aimlessly away from the youma, he knew where he was at. Ivy snaked its way up the side of the brick exterior of a brownstone building he was all too familiar with. Alex…

There were about fifteen steps between the sidewalk and the heavy hardwood front door; though in his current condition it may as well have been Mt.Everest. Eventually he made it to the top, but not without having to take a break on the eighth or ninth step, and with shaky hands Slidr rang the doorbell.

From where he stood, footsteps and a dog barking could be heard, evidence that at least Cadha was home. Though he hoped Alex was the one to open the door, the need for sleep wrapped it’s cool arms around Aiden's consciousness. Heavy eyelids slid shut as the weapon he had been holding onto slipped from his hand. Gravity took over then just as his uniform disappeared and his knees connected with the concrete before falling sideways on the upper landing; and it was there, outside his friend's home, he laid in blissful darkness.
