There was a woman lying in the middle of the training fields.
No, she was not dead (which was somewhat unfortunate because that would have made the day a little more exciting). Eva's decision to stay up super late last night had simply come back to punch her in the face in the middle of training, where she had thought it a good idea to just lie down and "rest her eyes" for a second or two. It was pretty obvious to tell where things had gone from there.
And so there she was, curled up in the middle of the field with her arms and legs wrapped around Chara like a makeshift, pointy teddy bear.

When Ana finally found the training fields, she did not expect to see a dead body lying on it. Was this place as cut-throat as to leave the dead out as an example? That was psychotic - and pretty bad-a**. As she jogged closer, wearing her typical work out gear and black fingerless gloves meant for fist-fighting, she quickly came to realize the woman was not dead. Just passed out, dying, or sleeping. So Ana did the first thing that came to mind - she bent down beside the girl, and checked if she was breathing. She also checked some of the key areas that mortal wounds could have been bleeding out from. The head, the neck, the chest, all seemed relatively unhurt. "Miss? Can you hear me?"

Brows creasing, Eva let out a little grumble when a voice reached her through her sleepy haze. She sighed and slowly cracked open one eye and then the other, staring blearily the unfamiliar face hovering above her. There was second of silence, and then another...
...And then she released Chara and sat up in a hurry, eyes going wide. She glanced left and right to confirm where she was before turning to look at the other girl with an embarrassed smile.
"Oh, uh...hi! Must have fallen asleep there," she laughed, combing her fingers through her hair, "Sorry, was I in the way of your training?"

Ana carefully backed up when the girl showed her consciousness, and stood just as Eva began to sit up on her own. She was already holding a hand out, ready to help the girl up to her feet. "Not yet. I just got here, saw you. That was the extent of my activities for the morning." She tilted her head to one side, perked with slight confusion. "Did you just say you fell asleep here? As in, actual sleep? Why are you sleeping out on the training fields? Hasn't Deus given you a room to sleep in? Are you a homeless hunter?"

"Oh good," she grinned, gratefully taking the offered hand and using it to haul herself up to her feet, "I was worried you or someone else may have accidentally tripped over me or something. I'll admit that this isn't the best place for a nap." Not in the middle of the day when everyone was around, anyways.
The flurry of questions caught her off guard, and Eva blinked blankly for a good few seconds before giggles began to escape through her lips. "Oh, no no! It's nothing like that!" she laughed, holding both hands up in an effort to halt the flow of questions, "I just stayed up too late last night and ended up dozing off here. I have an actual room, don't worry."
She swooped down to retrieve Chara, letting the weapon return to its unsummoned form before turning her gaze back to the other girl. "Anyways, don't think I've seen you around before! My name's Eva!"

Ana's arm flexed impressively as she pulled Eva to her feet, but she immediately let go once the girl had her bearings. "Were you training all through the night? That is pretty hard core. But a good night's rest is important for giving your muscles time to re-knit after a good workout. Lying here on the ground does not count as a good rest." Ana sounded a little monotone, a little like an infomercial. "Make sure you get a healthy dose of rest in your actual bed tonight. And drink plenty of water, you're probably dehydrated now. But that's always a good idea." She cleared her throat, immediately realized she was giving the woman she didn't know too much advice, and flushed with embarrassment. "It's.. a pleasure to meet you, Eva. I'm Ana. Sun Division. I have very recently been acquired by Deus. This was actually my first time out here on the fields."

Eva's eyes widened slightly, her lips parting but no sound escaping her as she listened mutely to the other girl. She wanted to assure her that she hadn't been training all night at all, but Eva was finding it hard to find a place to interject, and so she just let her go. To be completely fair though...it was all good advice, even if the scenario presented in it did not match with her own situation.
She deemed it safe to talk when Ana introduced herself, the grin slipping back onto her face as she propped a hand up on her hip. "Hi Ana! Nice, so you're new here! How are you finding Deus Ex so far?"
"And just so you don't worry," she smiled wryly, lifting a hand to rub the back of her head, "I wasn't training all night. I just stayed up later than I should have to finish a book and I kind of dozed off while taking a break from training out here."

Ana looked a little lost once the woman explained that she hadn't been training all night - she'd been reading. This was unfamiliar territory to her, and she'd already extended her praise, so she had no idea how to handle it. This was obvious by the way she kept opening her mouth and closing it again. "Right." She finally managed to get out. "No worries from me then. All is well. Deus is well. I mean - Deus is - I'm finding it quite well. That is. Thank you for asking." She looked like she was about to reach out for a handshake, as if that was proper for the moment, but hesitated and put her hands behind her back. "Well. I'll, ah. Leave you to it, then." Awkward.

Ana's awkwardness didn't seem to bother Eva in the slightest. To be fair, she probably didn't even notice, smiling in obliviousness as the other girl made an effort to excuse herself. Eva wouldn't accept that though, oh no--not when she had only just met a potential new friend.
"Were you about to do some training? Why don't we train together?" she suggested, her voice chirpy, "I'd love to get to know you a little better since we might end up working with one another in the future."
That, and she pretty much just clung to every opportunity to socialize that crossed her path.

Ana froze and then cast her eyes to the training field, considering the offer quickly. "I was going to take a look and see what it had to offer. Training with a more experienced hunter sounds like a much better use of my time. I would appreciate the help." She tried not to wince at the idea of getting to know her better, because that meant sharing; the girl was a valuable resource and Ana was not going to squander it simply because she was prone to keeping things to herself so often. "So. Yes. I accept your offer." She finished. "Where shall we begin?"

Her eyes lit up with delight when her offer was accepted. "Ooh, great! And uh...where to start, huh?" Laughing awkwardly, she scratched the back of her head and screwed up her face. "Well, I guess...what kind of weapon do you use? You probably already saw mine, but..."
Eva summoned Chara again, holding the bladed staff out with both hands for Ana to look at. "This is my partner, Chara! I'm mostly built for mid-range combat, as you can see." Planting the blade in the ground, she leaned against her weapon and grinned. "What about you?"

Ana's hands both rose up and within them, a pair of brightly colored guns materialized into existence. "This is Naia. She was once a deadly, giant snake, and now she is two guns, and my partner. She does not like when I describe her this way, however, so I will add that she is a very good partner, even though I have not tested our bond in the field of battle yet. Nonetheless I have faith she will serve me well." Ana squeezed the weapon, but did not pull the trigger. "She is long ranged, but I personally prefer hand to hand, myself. So she was a bit of a surprise, when I received her. She assures me that I am free to do as much damage using her as a close ranged device as well, so I suppose that will be interesting to learn when the time comes." Her arms dropped, pointing the guns downward. "Next?"

"Oh ho, how neat!" she exclaimed, leaning in a little to get a better look at the weapons in the girl's hands, "Naia, huh? Nice to meet you!" Eva lifted a hand and fluttered her fingers at the guns in greeting before lifting her gaze and focusing it back on Ana.
"Close range...so like pistol whipping?" she asked, cocking her head to the side. At the prompt to continue, she glanced around for a bit until her gaze fell on the training dummies.
"Well, can't say that I know a ton about wielding guns, but how's your shot? Granted that you guys just got partnered up not too long ago, buuuuut..." Trailing off, she pointed at the dummies from over her shoulder.

"She wants me to greet you as well." Ana told her, though Naia's actual greeting was something a little less tasteful, and a little more motorboaty. "Something like that. I have experience with hand to hand combat, but I have never pistol whipped someone. I have fired a weapon before, however, but only at the shooting range. I have not fired Naia as of yet." Ana's head turned to the dummies that Eva pointed at. "Shall we test out my aim?"

Eva seemed pleased that Naia apparently wanted to say hello back, having absolutely no idea to the truth of the weapon's greeting (which was probably for the best).
"Well, it's never too late to get started with practicing," she grinned, withdrawing her hand and propping it on her hip, "So yeah, go for it! Let's get you used to the feeling of firing Naia so that you're not going to get thrown into a mission completely blind."
Angling herself so that she'd be able to see both Ana and the dummies, Eva crossed her arms over her chest and waited to see how the girl's first shot would go.
