Fall Out Boy- My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light ‘Em Up)

“Oh, whoa, oh, oh,
whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh,
oh, whoa…
Oh, whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh,
Oh, whoa, oh, oh, whoa… ”

A strange harmony began to play over the P.A., sounding like people chanting. The lights turned dim, and red spotlights scattered across the stage as fire burned on the titantron.

“B-B-B-Be careful making wishes in the dark, dark
Can't be sure when they've hit their mark
And besides in the mean, mean time
I'm just dreaming of tearing you apart…”

The audience realized quickly that this music was the signal for Matthias to make his appearance, and he always did so in dramatic fashion. The fans popped big, waiting for the Phoenix Fireball to explode on the stage.

“I'm in the de-details with the devil
So now the world can never get me on my level
I just gotta get you off the cage
I'm a young lover's rage
Gonna need a spark to ignite

My songs know what you did in the daaaaaaaaaark! ”

A flash goes off in the middle of the stage as a ball of what looks like fire shoots out of the stage, up about five feet in the air, before coming back down, the flames separating to reveal that Matthias was the man behind the fire. In fact, to those looking, it seemed that Matthias was actually burning, as he was wearing straps of fabric on his biceps, forearms, hands, thighs, calves and shoulders that were providing fuel for the fire coming off of him, though we're cool to the touch on Matthias' skin. Most of the fans had since seen a featurette on BBW.COM displaying how his fire patches work, and were highly interested in the display.

“So light 'em up, up, up
Light 'em up, up, up
Light 'em up, up, up
I'm on fire”

"Introducing first, weighing in at 210 lbs, from Seattle, Washinton, he is the Phoenix Rising, MAAAAAAATHIAAAAAS!"

The crowd roars with excitement at the spectacular display, and the boy marches down the ramp, confident and excited as well. He spreads his arms out wide, letting everyone see his burning attire, which the commentators were taking a bit of time on television to explain how it was working to the folks at home who still didn't know, while the live audience remained mesmerized. Matthias positioned himself at the side of the ring with the hard camera facing it, taking a deep breath before leaping up to the apron, and quickly leaping again, turning in the air and springing off the top rope, and 450ing backwards in to the middle of the ring and clapping his hands together, which was where the remote switch was to extinguish the flames on his body in dramatic fashion. The fans applauded as he stood, and he saluted them as well, removing the fabrics and tossing them to ringside as an attendant handed Matthias a microphone.

"Well I guess I don't have the ring rust I thought I did!" Matthias said enthusiastically as the crowd cheered him on.

"I wanna thank all you amazing people for standing by me in my return, accepting me after what I've done...even those of you who still boo me, forcing me to prove myself to you and keep me honest, I want to say from my heart, I appreciate you just as much. Speaking of proving myself, that's exactly what I plan on doing tonight. You see, because some people didn't learn their lesson about what it means to be a champion, to EARN a championship, circumstances have come about that have resulted in me receiving a bye this round, in the OECW Seasons Championship Tournament. Now I'm not the kind of guy to sit back, relax, and watch everyone else fight. Never have been, never will be, not gunnu be tonight. So I'm making this statement here tonight...if I lose this match against J.W. Calibur...I'm officially withdrawing myself from the Tournament, because the way I see it, if I can't beat someone who isn't even in the tournament, I don't deserve to win the damn thing. So come on out here cowboy! Let's see if I've got what it takes, let's see if you can whip my a** out of this ring!"

Matthias dropped the mic and paced the ring, mentally focusing himself and getting ready for Jay Dubbyah.

While the crowd was still energetic and excited following the entrance of the Neo-Phoenix, their reaction grew exponentially more raucous as the tron filled with the image of the Confederate Battle Flag, just before the Sharpshooter Society logo faded into view, leaving the rather controversial flag in the background. Moments later, the banjo and snare drum filled intro to Doc Holliday by Volbeat began blasting over the PA system.

When the guitar joined in the mix, the Crimson City Champion emerged from the tunnel in a slow, methodical pace. The drunken cowboy would have been met with a rather hostile reaction between his actions last week, where he literally whipped a black man in the ring, and embracing the rebel flag if they were almost anywhere else in the country...but this was Birmingham, Alabama! Deep in the heart of the Deep Down Dirty South! The roar of the crowd was DEAFENING as nearly every redneck in attendance let out a Rebel Yell at the top of their lungs! As the tempo of the guitar sped up, J. W. shot both arms skyward with both hands making the signature "TOO SWEET" gesture that the Sharpshooter Society is so fond of, revealing the Crimson City Championship wrapped around his waist.

An outlaw walking through the Valley of Men
Glared with a sunken eye of death
Moved his head from side to side and said
"Come on you gutless slugs, FIGHT LIKE A MAN!
State your name and business, let's see what you got
Another body for the Hangman's count
Show me the bar and show me the cards!"
Hold on to your guns! Yeah!

Caliber paused on stage for a moment to take in the reaction of the crowd as the other members of the Sharpshooter Society soon joined J. W. on stage, with Ishikawa toting a rolling cooler filled with, presumably, imported Japanese beer. Once joined by his comrades, the Dirty South Outlaw began his leisurely stroll down the ramp.

Filled with bug juice, the moonshine in his hand
Hot headed with a temperament
The speediest, deadliest man with a gun
A bloody gambler, but a gentleman dog
A frontier vagabond who charms all the dames
"Hello ladies, how's your day today?
Let me introduce you to myself...
Doc Holliday."

"And introducing his opponent...being accompanied to the ring by the Sharpshooter Society...weighing in at 235 pounds, from the Big River Valley of Deep Down Dirty South Texas, the BBW Crimson City Champion...he is the Dirty South Outlaw, J. W. Caliber!"

THE OUTLAW MAN'S ROAR

As the entourage reached the bottom of the ramp, the Society took up positions surrounding the squared circle as Caliber made his way up the steel steps and stepped between the top and middle ropes to enter the ring, quickly unfastening his belt and scaling the ropes once he did so, holding the gold high for all to see. Caliber then hopped down and removed his bandana, sunglasses and black Stetson, handing them over to the Sharpshooter Stunnas at ringside with his shirt, duster coat and title belt following right after.

Matthias eyed J.W., as well as his cohorts in the Sharpshooter Society. He'd heard of these guys, and knew that them being at ringside complicated things to say the least. He'd have to be aware of his surroundings for sure.

The bell rang and Matthias went on the move, circling the ring, looking for the opportunity to lock up with J.W.

The Dirty South Outlaw locked horns with Matthias, quickly looking to catch the little Landry in an arm wringer!

The arm wringer secures Matthias in place, at least for now. Matty would look to grab the top rope to flip his body back and attempt to reverse the arm wringer on his opponent.

Just as quickly as Caliber sank in the arm wringer, it was reversed and it was the cowboy who found himself getting his arm twisted! Of course, the Outlaw had no intention of staying in the hold for very long, as he promptly attempted to reverse Matty's arm wringer into a hammerlock!

Matthias was slapped right in to the hammerlock, a hold he'd been in so much it felt like lacing his boots. To counter he'd reach up to try and grab his opponent around the head and jump up, kicking his feet out before trying to snapmare J.W. over his shoulder to escape.

One moment, Caliber had little Matty caught in a hammerlock...and the next thing he knew, the cowboy was flat on his back.

Matthias would try and transfer fluidly, popping up to his feet in order to snap back down with a leg drop, aiming across Caliber's throat.

Seeing as how it had been a while since the Neo-Phoenix had last been seen...well anywhere...Caliber had forgotten just how quick the kid could actually be. Just as the idea to roll out of the way crossed his mind, Matty's leg came crashing down on his windpipe, leaving the drunken cowboy wheezing on the mat.

Matthias tried to keep his advantage, looking to hook a leg for a pin.

1...
2...

NOPE!

Caliber managed to get his shoulder off the mat before the count of three!

Matthias needed to keep on the pressure in order to have an advantage over the bigger J.W., and so decided to try and sit his opponent up and try to put him in a rear chin lock.

As little Matty went to "assist" J. W. in getting to a sitting position, the Dirty South Outlaw would reach up and attempt to poke the Neo-Phoenix in the eye!
