Rider
Name: K'gan
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Rank:Wingrider
History: K'gan was born Keigan, a weyrbrat of Trine. During his first few years of life it was all very boring and largely ordinary. His mother was a kitchen worker his father a healer. He never had much contact with his father and he spent his childhood running riot with the other weyrbrats in the crèche while his mother worked. However for the most part his mother was his main career thought his father didn't seem to be in the picture much and Keigan was never sure how they had ended up together or how strong their connection was. But he still rarely sees his father

He didn't know if he'd impress but it never bothered him all that much. Unlike other children he never had the burning desire to be a rider. He liked his life as it was. He only started to really want to impress when his safe world of play and pranks started to fall apart around him. Riders that he had joked around with an annoyed since he could walk started to die. First thread fall then the rebellion. The first time he stood for impression he didn’t get picked and the second time he had to sit out because he had broken his arm rock climbing.

During the crisis that followed the influx of refugee's there was one small silver lining, he did discover talents he never knew he had, what would be counted as 'survivalist' skills have always been strong in Keigan who was half wild from an early age, quick and strong hunting comes naturally and his mother being a cook has slowly drilled into him information about what is safe to eat and how to prepare food so while food was scarce he always did well on food scavenging duties.

But he wanted to do more, as the weyr was flooded with injured riders and heroic stories of battle, Keigan's desire to join them grew stronger.

It was shortly after the successful attack on Brenden that drove back Keller's forces that a Crimson clutched. Brenden had been a success but even Keigan felt the thrum of tension and expectation on the eggs to produce strong replacements for the riders that had been lost.

When the dragons started to sing warm welcome and the clutch started to hatch even Keigan couldn't help the bite of nerves. After all he was getting older and each clucth that passed him by was one more step closer back to his life without direction which failed to be as appealing as it once had.

A few standard colours pushed their way from their eggs and out into the world before movement stopped and it was time to crack the remaining eggs.

Dragon after dragon was assisted from its eggs and one after another they called out to their new riders. At last when there was only one egg left. Keigan had once again resigned himself to walking away from the sands empty handed. The remaining egg was one of the smallest in the clutch and had been left to last as it was suspected to be a true dud. Yet as the egg was cracked a gooey black hide came wriggling into view. Unfortunately the egg had been cracked in the wrong place and in his struggles the little black stuck his tail straight out of the hole spraying egg goo on anyone unlucky enough to be in the way. The tail windmilled weakly but with enough momentum to push the egg over onto the egg shards of his siblings. The egg cracked straight down the middle and at last Trekth tumbled free.

K'gan had been watching the spectacle with rising amusement only to hear the crystal clear sound of his new bonded's voice cut through his laughter.
It was the start of a lifelong bond and a rocky wyrlingship. As usual K'gan pulled through on his competency on physical skills while struggling in theory based classes (most of the time struggling not to fall asleep). Yet by the time the training was completed and Trekth had reached his full size and strength the war was over.

K'gan would have been lying if he had claimed he was not disappointed but his nature would not allow him to dwell. The end of seeing the long line of injured and dead riders was very welcome.

Never the less K'gan was one of the first to volunteer to join the struggle against the rouge gold riders. Given age and inexperience many riders were reluctant to let the pair fight, it became the mission of both dragon and rider to prove themselves. Dauntless wing were willing to give them a chance. After a few missions the pair were able to gain the role they desired as capable and effective scouts. Trekth's colour and small size make night scouting particularly successful.

Description: K'gan has a very youthful boyish face and possible always will, his round features, button nose and full cheeks stop him from gaining any true look of maturity. Add that to his often childlike attitude and enthusiasm and it is even more difficult to take him seriously. Meanwhile his body and limbs have gone the other way becoming long, limber and slightly angular. He's slim but also fit and stronger than he looks

He likes to keep his thick wavy brown hair short but never bothers to cut it so the usual length ends up brushing around his jaw. His eyes are large and expressive with a hazel colouring that can look deep brown or vibrant green depending on the light. His clothes are always very sturdy leathers and tough fabric but they still get worn away and ripped regularly.

Under his clothing he has more than a few scars. The worst one is a harsh gash down his back from a wyrling training exercise gone wrong, but he has a fair share dotted over his tan sun kissed skin.

Personality: People Say that if K'gan had wings he'd challenge the sky. K'gan doesn't know the meaning of the word fear, unfortunately he also doesn't seem to know the meaning of reckless endangerment or mortality. The Weyr's very own dare devil a adrenaline junky in the truest sense of the word. If its dangerous possibly fatal K'gan has probably at least attempted it. Things like diving off higher and higher cliffs in to smaller and smaller bodies of water and going down the river rapids in a small fishing boats are just some of the things he has tried in the past.
K'gan truly has the devils luck because pern only knows how he is still alive. He has been to the healers probably more times than anyone else in the weyr his own age but apart from the occasional broken bone never been taken in with anything to serious.

When he is not doing anything K'gan is extremely twitchy, sitting and listening is not something he does well and he'd rather just do. Even if its chores He can only take so much lecturing before he completely tunes out or starts complaining...loudly. Probably why he never settled in a craft, he doesn't listen, jumps in and inevitably ends up messing up. Seeing as he has never showed a talent for much else he is well versed in simple chores and in all truth he doesn't mind them as long as they involve some sort of physical activity. When things get boring he'll try and jazz them up in his own style like trying to sweep with three brooms at the same time. It will get done faster that way right? Oiling his dragon has always been a favorite chore, the physical exertion and bonding with his partner always a particularly cherished time.

This boy also looks for his thrills in competition. Want to race? Want to see who can swim faster? Want to see who can find the highest tree and climb it? Want to....Well you get the idea. Don't worry though. Win or loose K'gan always takes it in good humour. He rarely looses his temper but when he gets scolded he does have a tendency to sulk for a short time before he seems to forget it and bounce back just as over the top as ever.

Like everything else he dose K'gan talks a mile a minute and often runs all over the conversation and other peoples feelings, speaking before he thinks his comments have the ability to hurt those more sensitive. But K'gan will be oblivious to the harm he has caused unless someone tells him outright and even then often wave it off as people being to sensitive.

That being said K'gan is not the type to judge on social status, gender or what colour dragon you ride. He can be swayed by strong group emotion within reason as demonstrated in the case of the Keller's rebellion but even then he cant really hold onto negative feelings towards others. He is not at all a hateful person and its almost impossible for him to hold onto a grudge for more than a day or two.

When women roll their eyes and mutter 'men' as an oath under their breath, they probably mean K'gan. He is fun to be around, presenting himself as 'one of the boys' and full of infectious energy but he has no ideas about deep feelings of others and if you cry around him then he'll just get uncomfortable and start looking for the nearest exit.

A deep thinker K'gan is not, he tends to leap before he looks and if there is a bed of spikes at the bottom, so be it. K'gan always tries to live in the moment, not looking back and not regretting what has come before he adjusts to any new situation and environment quickly and is accepting of any changes that go on around him. He takes life as it comes trying to enjoy every step.

Dragon (Delete as appropriate)
Name: Trekth
Age: 8 (I think? Can modify to fit the timeline better)
Colour: Black
Description: Trekth is mostly a solid black but has a mottled stomach that spreads out to the underside of his wing base. As the mottling spreads out across his wings it thins to smaller freckles and spots towards the edges and tips. His only other distinctive marking is a crescent moon curve of lighter colouring that starts under his eye and curls up and over the orb to end at the arch of his brow.
Size/Build:Trekth is average size of his colour but his build is surprisingly slight. 'Slinky' is the best way to describe it with long legs and extended narrow wings perfect for sharp turns in the air.
Personality: Black Trekth is, perhaps, the worst enabler you could ever have the (mis)fortune of encountering. He is all about the new experiences, the thrill, the 'you only live once' motto of the daredevil and it shows in very nearly everything he does. Always open to new missions or requests or even orders, this Black will cheerfully take on just about any 'exciting' task... of course, if he deems it not terribly enriching to his life's experiences, he's not the best choice for prompt, quality service. Thus it's a fine line between describing a menial chore or task as something central to the operation of the Weyr and not outright lying to the point where Trekth feels manipulated.

He is clever, compaasionate and cooperative in most things but should be feel used or manipulated, Trekth is prone to completely cutting the individual out of his life – this includes utterly ignoring the very existence of the one who crossed him, even if it's a superior, and even if it's a direct command. During his adolescent days, this tendency to either be 100% open or 100% shut lead to a steep learning curve not just for his Rider but for his peers and superiors as well. It's not that he's being deliberately irritating or disprespectful, he just fully expects 100% out of the people he gives it to and anything less is being disrespectful to him. Thankfully his memory isn't the best of all dragons so this lock-out period fades after about 4-5 days before he's back to normal, unless of course his Rider reminds him of why there's this awkwardness between them and someone else.

When it comes to the actual completion of tasks, Trekth utilizes his and K'gan's adaptability to really come up with a solid solution to whatever it is they're doing. Be it popping out of Between unexpectedly close to a cliff-face with a 'do or die' split second decision or tracking the movements of a Rogue Queen in the area unseen, his ability to think on his feet wins him a number of nods of appreciation. Of course, discretion when he gets back isn't his strongest suit and his openess wins out with the result of wild, often true, stories of intrigue and adventure, the likes of which he's absolutely certain Harpers will immortalize so you better get in on the fun too!

Oh right, his enabling tendency... well, if you mention being uncertain about doing something to this dragon he will, without a doubt, ask you why you're not doing it. If your answer is anything less then acceptable (and this is most answers), Trekth will insist you grow as a person and try it out – this applies to ALL dilemmas, unfortunately, be it confessing one's love or skipping a day of classes to go watch the Shipfish race the Trading Ships in the North. As a result, Trekth is well known as an advice giver but that his advice is a very sharp double-edged sword... and sometimes people blame him rather then themselves for what turn out to be bad decisions.

All of this is not to say he's not serious – he's very serious all of the time, meaning very nearly everything he says with the sort of earnesty that means people listen to him. He works hard, means well, and gets over most mishaps relatively swiftly. Some are convinced he'll end with a grin on his face and fistful of Thread and never regret a single moment... it's almost something to be jealous of.
