Arias wasn't sure how these dates were supposed to go, so he was still planning them like he would a date with a friend. Which didn't seem like anything weird, until two minutes before Nick was supposed to come over and he was standing there in his kitchen, looking down at the cookies he'd decorated like he would for KD or Carlee and wondering if it wasn't enough to chase anyone else away.
…Sprinkles and delicate icing work were one thing when you were selling the cookies or making them for close friends, but what was Nick going to think? Obviously he knew he ran a bakery—you couldn't exactly miss it given the fact that Arias lived right above it—but was this trying to hard? Not hard enough?
The television was on in the living room and there were a few movies (which he'd painstakingly picked out and was still second guessing himself for) laid out on the side; the chicken pot pie he'd made for dinner (was this dinner and a movie or cookies and movies? Had he specified? Was there any difference?) was nearly done cooking. He didn't know if it was too forward, but he'd left the front door unlocked and told Nick to let himself in whenever he got here; Arias was sort of in his own little world when he was in the kitchen and despite the fact that he kept periodically checking his phone to make sure he had no missed calls or texts, he was still paranoid that Nick would wind up waiting downstairs all night.
All this worrying was exhausting Arias; he was being silly and he knew it. He should have been better than this; he was an adult, and dating experience or not, he was acting like a teenager. He wiped the back of his arm across his forehead and then just wiped his icing covered hands on the side of his very red, very reindeer decorated, all time favorite Christmas apron.

Nick was excited. He had been invited for lunch and a movie at Arias’s place…and while he wasn’t sure if it was a for real date…he was prepared for it to be.
He had a large bouquet of roses and a bottle of good wine…who said that they couldn’t get a little tipsy as they cuddled and watched the movie…so that would be good. Anything to get his head out of the negative place that it had really settled in.
It wasn’t hard to find the bakery again, and even easier to follow the staircase up to the secret apartment that was overtop of it. And the text did say that the door would be unlocked…so he let himself in. “Honey! I’m home~”
The blonde walked into the apartment and looked around, locking the door behind him and sniffing the air. “Oh, Arias, I do think you’re baking something, and it does smell fantastic. But I think everything you make is fantastic…so…where are you, my little smoochy poo?”

Arias nearly jumped right out of his skin when he heard Nick behind him, but he turned to greet the male and couldn't help but smile. Once more he ran his hands under the sink and dried them on his festive, albeit seasonally incorrect, apron. "I'm in the kitchen," he called, and though he knew that his voice might give Nick an idea of where he was, the blonde wasn't at all as familiar with his apartment as he was—so he went to meet him.
"I don't think you've had enough of what I can make to know if it's all good. I make plenty of mistakes," he said as he rounded the corner—and only very narrowly managed to side step Nick enough not to run into him.
He smiled broadly, very glad to have the male here; while he was still nervous, Nick's presence was alleviating some of his concerns. It was one step at a time with him; every moment they spent together helped his confidence grow—even if just a little bit.
"I'm happy you made it—and found your way inside, and," he faltered and his eyes drifted from Nick's face to the items he had brought up with him.
Arias was wringing his hands in front of him, suddenly and tilted his head inquisitively even as words failed him.

Nick grinned, holding the roses out to Arias. “Yes indeed. Here I am. I found all that I wanted here so…thank you so much for the invite, it meant a lot to me.” The blonde gave the brunette a look over, grinning at his fantastic apron. It was just…classic Arias…at least the Arias he was coming to learn more and more about…and he liked it, a lot.
“I also brought some wine, maybe I’ll get you drunk and we can kiss as we watch the movie and eat whatever it is that you’re making…because it smells just ugh. Fantastic. I know I already said that but, I just want to drive it home that I’ve been in your place for all of three minutes, and I am starving all of the sudden. You are going to be the type of boyfriend that spoils me, aren’t you?”
He was so fun to tease. So fun.

Arias stared at the roses for a moment and then looked back up at Nick as if he were asking if the male was sure before he hesitantly took them. "Well—thank you. I don't think I've ever gotten flowers before. They're really lovely."
…And he couldn't help but adore them.
After inhaling their sweet aroma—for only a second—he bustled back into the kitchen to find a vase. "But I don't know about the rest of that! I've never been drunk either. I wouldn't want to ruin our—" he faltered and then managed to finish, "Date. You know, by being boring of throwing up all over you. But I think I like the rest of your itinerary. The Pot Pie's going to be done in," he glanced at the oven, "Two minutes, so I hope you don't starve before then. I can get you a drink, or something? I've got cookies if you're absolutely dying and need a quick snack…?"
He tried to make sure Nick had access to anything he could want; finding a vase, he began to fill it with water and then found his ears burning when it sort of sank in that he had a boyfriend who had brought him flowers and was talking about kissing, and this was a date…
Arias smiled and nearly laughed to himself, out of genuine happiness or nervousness, or just a combination of both; he couldn't tell. "Perhaps spoiling is my go to, though. I have to make up for all of my shortcomings, so perhaps if I lavish you with baked goods you'll be able to overlook the other, less desirable aspects of me?"

Nick had his arms around Arias the moment the male had turned the water on. “I don’t know what on earth you’re talking about.” He whispered, lips right next to the male’s ear. “I don’t see anything that is less than desirable, in fact I’m quite sure that I desire you more than you want to realize.”
It was a cheesy line…but he was learning very quickly that Arias liked cheesy lines…in fact…he seemed to live for the cheesy lines. The cheesier the better. With a sigh, he pulled away from the brunette and kissed his cheek, laughing lightly. "I think that your pot pie smells divine and I can't wait to dig in to it, honestly..."
He watched Arias for a long moment, the laughter fading to no more than a soft smile.
“Honestly I think this is going to be the best damn date I’ve ever gone on, just because you’re here with me.”Kyuseisha no Hikari Pretty sure we can fin this...after your post. orz

Arias shivered at Nick's words in his ear. Even if it was cheesy, he thought it was endearing—and Nick had him absolutely figured out.
The cheesier the better.
His face was a little red from the flirting, and the kiss, but there was no denying the pure happiness radiating from his smile. He tucked his hair behind his ear and laughed softly before nodding.
"Fingers crossed." He hesitated, and leaned forward to give Nick a very brief kiss on the cheek. "…But I've got good feelings about this one."
