Name: Nessia
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Craft/Rank: Craft: Bakercraft Rank: Apprentice
History: Born at Ursul Hold just a year before many of the events at Trine, Benden and Malvren took place, her birth was a happy one for her parents, She the youngest daughter of two and the older one already a joy to their lives.
Her parents lives were simple, her father worked with the crops as most in their hold did while her mother worked in the kitchen. Neither were the leaders or Masters of what they did, but they did their work and enjoyed the benefits of it.
As a young child, she didn't know anything that had been going on at Trine despite the trade that went on with them. She knew of dragons but wasn't particularly interested in them at the tender age of 5 or 6. Instead, her interests were playing in the soil and pulling up weeds as her father had her and her older sister by 4 years do when their mother was busy and it was quote "His turn" end quote. Something Nessia never really understood until she was older.
(Meta) Growing up in the past 10 years was different. It was wartime and many supplies had been sent to Trine as they went about defeating Keller and Benden and Malvren. Nessia remembered it was as if the whole Hold gave a sigh of relief when it was all over. And then there was peace for a short while and life went back to normal until the Rogue Queens started in. As Ursul was a Hold and not a Weyr, Nessia didn't think they were too affected by the change. But it was definitely different as the Rogue Queens took to the jungles and wilds and their pirating ways. It became a playful game for the younger children to play the "good dragonriders" and the "bad queens." Though many parents didn't see the humor or fun in the real situation.
Meanwhile during that Nessia started to realize just how different she was from the other girls of the hold, especially her sister. She was still shorter, smaller and as her aunties pointed out near constantly. "Not yet a heartbreaker." She knew she wasn't as good looking as she was told she was going to be but she kept hoping for the day she would wake up and suddenly she was.
It wasn't until recently that she joined her mother in the baking craft, learning from the Journeywomen and one other apprentice in the kitchen of the hold. Her small build, helped her move around in the crowded place, though she did have an issue with keeping her arms and hands away from hot things, resulting in a few burns, but no scars.
And until recently, she did have something of her body to be proud of. She had long blonde hair, something, she inherited from her paternal grandmother and something her older sister didn't have. It was during a bet with the other apprentice about cooking a recipe that she lost. The bet had been to cut her long hair off or shave his head. With her losing, she had to let him take a knife to her blonde locks. Being a clumsy boy, he removed far more than was needed, resulting in her mother having to style it much shorter than what was normal for a young girl.
When she was searched, she heard the dragonrider comment on her hair, saying that it was quite cute on her, before announcing that she should come with him to be a possible candidate. She left the very next day and has been at Trine for about a month since.
Description: At 16, she stands about 5'1 and hopes that she'll keep growing. Her body appears just a bit lanky and she hasn't grown into all her curves yet. She does have breasts though according to her peers they aren't anything to marvel at. She is a of a skinny build, though strong enough to be able to help when needed. Being so young, her face hasn't changed much from when she was young, though it is slowly narrowing and she's growing into the looks that her aunties and mother keep telling her she'll have. Her eyes are a blue-ish green, inherited from her mother's side and her nose is a bit big for her face. Truly, at 16 she is an awkward looking teenager at the moment. Her hair is a sandy type of blonde, looking more like the way pale sand looks when it gets wet. With yellow highlights from her hair being bleached by the sun every year since she was born, her hair is the one thing she is very proud of. It used to be extremely long and beautiful and thick until just recently when during a bet, it was cut off very close to her head. With her mother's help, it has been styled close to her head in a boy type cut with wisps of fringe and bangs hanging over her forehead, held back by a grey headband.
Personality: Growing up the youngest of two didn't really give her much choice than to compete with her older sister on many things. When they were young and shared a room together, they were as close as can be, but when her sister became taller and much more beautiful than Nessia ever thought herself to ever get to, it became more of a competition of wills than anything.
She is not very confident in herself, and has slightly low self-esteem about her appearance and her stature, but she can be confident in things she knows she does well. She is someone who takes pride in her work when she does it right, though she can consider any mistakes solely her fault even if they aren't.
She has been called stubborn at times with her willingness to defend her skills and to show off a bit, resulting her hair being cut off most recently. But she has been known to gamble a bit, but never with money, only favors or as demonstrated recently, appearences. While she is stubborn though, its only when she's called out on something she knows she does well and so she takes it as her defending herself.
Nessia is kind though and while she can feel down about herself, she never hesitates to offer a smile to someone she sees. She is a helpful individual when asked, but can have a temper, especially if yelled at. As she's often stated in the kitchen, she's not a "Mind reader" She doesn't always know who needs her help so how can she help them if they don't tell her?
With her self-image issues, she tends to avoid gathers or anything recently that would involve her wearing a dress. She enjoys looking pretty but with her changing body and the way she currently looks, she feels that she doesn't look good in them, so she will avoid it at all costs, preferring nice trousers and perhaps a detailed tunic and jacket to look good.
Also because of her issues, she has begun to feel jealous of other girls' looks. She has much the teenager frame of mind, constantly asking herself why she can't look that good or why boys won't notice her. With her age being 16, she knows she should be focusing on winning a husband and getting her craft down but she wonders if she ever will because of how she looks, despite having a personality over looks (unlike some girls). It used the be the way things were until she was told she can be a candidate. Though with her new candidacy she hasn't really been focusing on finding a man as focusing on doing what she knows is more important, learning to be a dragonrider, though she has just started to notice that looks aren't really everything in the Weyr. She's slowly coming to realize that maybe it's not so bad she hasn't grown into her looks just yet, though she can still feel down about the way she looks or moves or how she completes tasks. She doesn't seem to realize she might be too hard on herself.
Sometimes when her mood does get her down, she'll sneak away to be by herself for a while and try to cheer herself up. Often times singing or as of recently, dancing by herself in her room to try and feel better. Though she's not sure she's particularly good at either activity it can help and atleast she can put a smile on her face and return to work.
While she has her competitive moments with her sister and little arguments with her mother in the kitchen, she loves her family dearly and would do anything for them if they asked. She would never wish any of them ill other than the little jabs between her and her sister.
She has a sense of humor, how can she not when she spends days with women and men in the kitchen making fun of each other. While sometimes her jokes land on a sour note, she delights in making others laugh and sometimes it's at her own expense that this happens. But she can be happy if others around her are happy, especially if she made them so.
Other: Recently, mostly as a way to appease her aunties who suggested it, she has taken up dancing to try to improve her grace since she is "such an awkward child" as they call her. Though she has really begun to love it.

Just one question and one comment...
First, if she accepted the Searchrider's request, why is she so concerned about finding a husband and being pretty? Her focus would neccessarily shift to training to be a Dragonrider after her search. This is something you can RP, of course, but it'd be jarring for a Hold-bred girl to come to Trine and learn that marriage - and really, looks, - are so unimportant as to not bear any concern.
Secondly, my comment. And this is just a personal opinion. It seems to me the very core of her is wrapped around this idea of being the prettiest, most alluring girl and having low self esteem because she isn't. That saddens me because one's value is never in how one looks - it's in the personality and choices a person's made. While I respect your desire to play a character on the shallower end of the spectrum, I would look forward to her learning there's more to life then waiting for Prince Charming and Looking Good. If she's a Baker by craft, for example, or a Dancer by choice, she could learn to kick-butt at those things without the need to validate herself through catching other people's gazes or snagging Prince Charming.
There's loads of room for character development into a deeper, more complex and rich individual and I am looking forward to that! Just address the bit about getting a husband versus becoming a rider either by replying to this post or modifying (colour the change red) your profile and you'll be good to go!
