Xaijin scuffed at the dry ground and sniffed. There were hoof marks of the right size and shape, but she wanted to be sure before she did anything major. She knew that she was in foreign and dangerous territory. Even if she had the utmost confidence in herself, being careless was just stupid. She sniffed again, then perked up. That was it. The scent of the stallion she was hunting. She was on the right track.

Her pace quickened. It was early morning. The sun hadn't come over the horizon yet an the gray of predawn gave colors a certain dullness. Coming at this time was her plan. She was an early riser, and found that many soquili didn't share the same habits. Especially in summer when the mornings came earlier, many soquili grew fat and lazy. Not her. Dawn and dusk were the times when she felt the most alive.

Her paws moving over the ground produced much less sound than hooves would. With any luck, her quarry wouldn't even realize she was coming until it was too late for him to respond. As she thought of this, a quiet smirk flitted across her face. Of course, it wouldn't be much fun without a fight.

Daimhin slept standing up outside the entrance of his cave home. His dreaming mind roved over strange terrains and his ears twitched slightly in response. He stirred slightly when his unconscious mind picked up on noises, but he didn't wake.

Xaijin peered through the trees. There he was! The bully that had been harassing her kind for apparently years. It was about time that he learned his lesson, and she thought she was just the teacher to do it. He was still asleep - his mistake. She crept forward... and then a twig snapped loudly.

She swore internally at the sound, knowing that Daimhin would wake.

Daimhin did indeed awake. His eyes shot open and he stared at the yellow mare. For a moment he thought he was still dreaming. He had been woken up by one of the finest pokesoquili he had ever seen. He put so much effort into searching, and she had come right to him?

"Did you come to be my captive?" he rumbled, still hazy.

"I don't think so," growled Xaijin. If she couldn't make a surprise attack, she might as well allow a small interchange before she attacked. She stopped in her tracks, but kept up a ready pose. He wasn't about to catch her off guard.

"I hear that you've been attacking, harassing, and kidnapping my kind." Behind her sunglasses her eyes were cold and unforgiving. Her mouth was turned downwards in a disdainful sneer. "What's going to happen is this: I'm going to kick your a**. Then, you'll apologize to me on the behalf of all pokesoquili you've hurt. After that, you'll swear never to bother any of us again." She didn't really expect him to agree to her terms immediately, but she expected he would once she gave him enough incentive.

Daimhin barked out a coarse laugh. He couldn't help it! It was all so ludicrous. "You think you're enough to take me on?" He was no spring chicken anymore, but he still had size and strength. The mare was much smaller and with a wiry body that looked better suited for sprinting. He wasn't the least bit worried.

"How about I add you to my collection instead?" he asked, eyes glittering avariciously.

Xaijin gave a low chuckle to answer Daimhin's hearty guffaw. "Well, you can't ever say I didn't warn you," she replied, early morning sun glinting off her sunglasses. She watched him calculatingly. Then, all in an instant, she attacked.

She prided herself on her speed. She could almost always attack before her opponent, and that gave her the upper hand. This case was no different. With barely a movement to betray her intentions, she smoothly launched herself forward. Her paws were another advantage. Not many soquili were used to facing an opponent on paws, and she tended to be able to surprise them with what she could do with them. Right now, what she was planning was wheeling at the last moment to deliver a kick to Daimhin's jaw.
