Base vibrated through her body, lulling her into a vague sort of half awareness as Cinnabar lounged in one of the booths along the wall. She'd picked the one with the dimmest lighting, chasing out a pair of necking teenagers with a bitchy look. It gave her some cover, and with that, she'd felt safe enough to let her glamour go while she waited for her 'date'.
Her tail curled over the edge of the padded seat into the shadows under the table, her black hair tumbling around her leather-clad shoulders to hide the gleaming scales down her neck. The tip of her boot tapped the air in time to the music as she drifted in her own mind, her fingers idly spinning a beer glass up on it's edge, a couple of fingers of amber liquid left in the bottom. She might be a little more leather than this place usually got, but it had been the other Captain's idea to meet here. Inviting her back to her room in the Citadel, even if it would have been quieter, seemed a poor choice when she wasn't looking for a lay. Maybe she'd consider it sometime, though, when they had something other than business to talk about.
Leaning back against the wall, one long leg drawn up to rest on the seat, Cinnabar let her eyes drift up and out over the floor where young people danced, getting close to one another and feeling the liquor in them. A red-head with generous hips caught her attention, grinding up against a gangly young man who hardly seemed to know what to do with her. It made the half-youma quirk a smile and her hand drifted under the table. Her gaze sharpened as she reached out for him with her mind and his energetic motions slowed as a little orb of energy grew in her palm.

Clubs were Erythrite's favorite hunting ground, and they were also an excellent place to meet with other officers - including attractive, mysterious half-youma Captains. She waltzed into the club like she owned it, the small garrison cap that was technically part of her uniform discarded somewhere along the way as it always was. The rest of her uniform could pass in the lights of a cub for a normal outfit, but that hat threw it off just enough that it was easier to get rid of it.
She could feel Cinnabar's aura, and she moved through the club with practiced ease, slipping between dancers and small groups until she found the booth the other woman had taken residence in.
"Good evening, Captain," she said, as she slid into a seat across from her. "I hope it wasn't too hard, finding this place?"

The woman who joined her as not precisely what she had expected. It prompted a long look from head to toe and back up. Pink and blue hair, lovely figure, almost lolita-like military uniform... and scars across her face. A slow, lazy smile curved over Cinnabar's lips as she straightened a little, letting her arms drape on the table and the back of the booth.
"Hello, Captain." She tossed back as she tilted her head. Swinging her leg off the seat, Cinnabar finally pushed herself upright. "I found it easily enough. I've been to a lot of places like this... its not a bad place to meet someone for things like this. Most people are paying more attention to the hottie down the bar or getting hammered."
The half youma smiled as she offered her hand across the table, claws retracted to prevent accidental scratches. It wouldn't be a terribly good way to start things off, would it?
"I'm glad you could meet me to talk about my little project. I can use all the hands I can get on it. I've been going over the roster and there are some interesting things I've found." She said as she pulled her notebook over and opened it part way in, pushing it into her guest's view. "There are a lot of inactive names in that roster, with nothing to show for months. Its suspicious... especially with all the... defection we've seen recently. I think they're related."
Might as well jump in with both feet, hmm?

Erythrite found herself examining the half-youma's features, but trying not to be too obvious about it - but then, she was also just enjoying taking in a very, very lovely woman. She would be returning to Annabelle tonight, as she did every night, but that didn't mean she couldn't enjoy a little flirtation, and even if not that, a little checking out.
"That's the idea," she said. "No one will think too much on two beautiful women having a chat. We're a fairly normal sight, if prettier than most." She was definitely flirting a little with the attractive Captain, because frankly, it was fun. She rested her hand briefly on the offered one, not really a handshake, but something a bit more purposely intimate.
But there was also business to conduct, and it was obvious that Cinnabar had not lost sight of that - so neither could Erythrite. She listened interestedly to the Captain's proposal, clicking her tongue. It was true, a number of officers had been lost lately - too many, so many the Negaverse was starting to take notice. "Am I to assume the plan is to see if we can't shake something out of these names? See if they're quiet for legitimate reasons - out of the city, ill, injured - or if they've, ah, turned coat?"

Cinnabar grinned as her fingers slid over the other captain's, lingering a little before they drew apart.
"Clever girl. That is exactly what I'm proposing. I imagine some of these are simple cases of neglect or someone attempting to take an unauthorized break. The first part of the job is determining which are which. The second part is digging into the lives of those who aren't just hiding out, but have actually left our ranks."
Her hand felt to press fingers to the pages of the notebook, tapping a random name with a forefinger.
"Before I was became a captain, I worked as a bond enforcement agent in my civilian life. I know how to find people who don't want to be found and bring them back to face the consequences of running away. I can't do that any more, but I can bring those skills here, to work for us. I want to prove it can be done, first and foremost, and then it'll be a matter of refining the process into something more efficient. I just need able bodies right now, people who can spend more time in plain clothes than I can."
She waved a hand and shrugged. "I'm limited as I am now, but that doesn't have to be detrimental. It just means I need to work with people, to go where I can't. Which is why I asked you to talk with me. Do you think you'd be interested in helping me? I can't guarantee success or a big reward for this... not unless managed to pull something out of it."

As she spoke, the Captain nodded. "Taking an unauthorized break" sounded like a number of officers she knew. Including, in some ways, her own fool brother. She wondered if his name was on the list, but she was also fairly certain he was at least reporting in.
She listened, interestedly, to Cinnabar's presentation - and considered all the way. Yes, she could talk to people; that was her main talent. She was conversational, charming, pretty - even if her scars did sometimes attract the wrong kind of attention. And that was easily enough covered with makeup. She doubted Cinnabar could cover her inhuman parts that way.
"I would be pleased to assist you, Cinnabar," she said, and she was smiling the entire way through. "I suspect I can manage well with the families of our missing...former comrades." If Cinnabar asked why, she would answer, but volunteering her family's pain was not high on her list of things to do.

Agreement came with a deep satisfaction for the half-youma and her body lost much of its tension, relaxing into the padded seat of the booth. It was a subtle shift, but the relief was surprising. There was so much of this that required outside help to accomplish. One more agreement was one more piece and tool acquired.
Cinnabar settled back into her seat as she reached to flip the notebook shut, a confident smile lighting her face.
"I look forward to this partnership, Erythrite." She reached for her beer glass and lifted it, offering her companion a tilt of it in salute. "May our operation be successful and as beneficial to you as it is to me."
