Aly woke up this morning really not wanting to go to class. Even though this was college, and everyone was supposed to be more mature than they were in high school people still managed to bully her. She was weird, and she knew that, but what she didn't know was why everyone had to make it out to be such a bad thing. And in all honesty Aly wasn't even that weird. She love do draw and didn't speak much. She was basically always in her own world. Sometimes she dressed a bit funny, or she used the wrong words to express something, but this was just her creativity flowing through her into her personality. Most people wouldn't understand.
Aly looked around for her backpack after getting ready for the day. It was sitting on her couch. She lived in an apartment with her roommate, Morgan. They got along fine, but they weren't the best of friends. "I'm off to class Moooogy" Aly sang as she grabbed her backpack. Morgan didn't respond, she hated when Aly called her that. Aly awkwardly laughed then left the apartment. She whistled on her way to campus which was only a 10 minute walk. "The birds are so pretty." She sang as she pulled out her sketchbook and started to draw the birds down on the page.
xxxxxxx Because Luke lived on campus, he wasn't in a particular rush to get to class. That explained why he had class in half an hour but he was still laying on his couch in a pair of boxers. However, he was getting bored. His social media was dead and he had no text messages, so he supposed it was about time he got dressed. He pulled on a pair of black skinny jeans, a dark t-shirt, and a blue flannel. Then, as he was lacing up his vans, his phone went off. It was a reminder that he should get ready for class soon. Look at me, ahead of the game. He smiled to himself. Running a hand through his bed head, he decided his hair was probably a lost cause so it wasn't worth attempting to work on. Not that anyone would care anyway.
xxxxxxx You see, Luke was what you could call a popular kid. It was weird. He went through four years of high school being practically invisible, but things were different for him in college. Girls actually liked him. Guys didn't push him into lockers. He wasn't entirely sure why, but he wasn't about to jinx it. Considering he still had some time before actually needing to leave for class, he decided to take a walk around campus.

Aly arrived on campus with a little time to spare so she decided to get tea from the campus coffee shop. She found a bench and sat down while she finished her drawings, she was still humming to herself. Although Aly's humming stopped when she caught sight of someone walking nearby. Ugh, Luke, one of the popular kids. Aly didn't know what to do because his presence intimidated her. She looked up with wide eyes before hiding her face behind her book and making her way into one of the campus buildings. "My tea..." She whimpered while looking out the window. Her tea was still sitting on the bench, smoke still rising from the top. She sighed in frustration and as she did some girls walked by. "You're so weird." One of them said then spit on the ground next to Aly. She simply crossed her arms and stuck her tongue out towards the popular girl. "Whatever at least my boobs are real." Aly was pretty proud of her comeback, but the other girls had already left the building and didn't even get to hear it. Aly sighed again then took a seat on one of the nice beanbags in the room. Her first class was in this building so it wasn't a bad idea to wait around in here.
No need to quote, and no worries if you change the profile (:
xxxxxxx Luke thought he saw one of the girls in a class or two of his. What was her name? Annie? Sally? Aly. That was it. She was pretty, and he appreciated the fact that she wasn't like everyone else. She was the type of girl he could've seen himself talking to back in high school, maybe even liking. But things were different now. He was different. "Hey, Luke!" One of his friends approached him. They did their handshake that they usually did when greeting one another. "What's up, man?" Running a hand through his hair, he replied in the accent that made most girls swoon, "Nothing. Just wasting time before class." He looked over his friend's shoulder where the girl had been sitting, but she was gone now. In her place was a cup of still steaming tea. Weird. "Hey, what are you looking at?"
xxxxxxx"Oh, nothing." The Australian boy turned his attention back to his friend and smiled. Unfortunately, giving him his attention meant Trent diving into a story about a party he had gone to last weekend that Luke didn't exactly care about. He wasn't really much of a party guy, but everyone else seemed to be. Weird. Something about the big crowds and loud music didn't really settle with him. "Hey, you'll never guess what I just overhead," one of his other friends, Kyle, said as he approached, thankfully. Relieved by the change of subject, Luke asked, "What?""You know that weird girl, Ari?" He didn't really know any Ari's, so he corrected him, "I think you mean Aly.""Yeah, her. Well Katie and her friends were walking by and they called her weird, which she is. But then when they walked away, the weird girl was all like at least my boobs are real." Kyle found that hilarious, apparently.
xxxxxxx"They were making fun of her and you didn't say anything?" Luke's eyebrows furrowed together. He had never really noticed the way people treated her, honestly. He had other things on his mnd. "Oh, come on. Don't tell me you care about her?" Trent teased. "You can't tell me you would have said anything to Katie. She's fine, bro," Kyle said in his own defense. Luke rolled his eyes, but he let it go. "I'm going to head to class. I'll see you guys later."

While resting on the beanbag Aly shuffled around in her bookbag for her sketchbook again. She finished up her drawings of birds then looked at it happily. The drawing turn out lovely. "How cute." Aly gently closed her sketchbook with the pencil still inside then placed it back in her bag. As she did she realized the time. It was 1:28 which meant class started in two minutes.
Aly quickly leaped up from the beanbag and as she did she tripped a little but caught herself before she fell completely to the ground. A couple that was sitting on the couch near the beanbags laughed a little and Aly tried to awkwardly laugh it off with them, but one of them just rolled their eyes. Aly's eyes went back to the floor as she nervously pushed her blonde hair behind her ear. She sighed before walking to the classroom on the other side of the hall. The class she was attending was Creative Writing, a class that she actually excelled in because of her amazing imagination. The teacher, Craig Johnson, loved Aly, but the students not so much. Most of her classmates hated her because her work was just so good. That, and she was just Aly.
When she walked in the classroom was about half full, certainly more people would be arriving right at 2:00 and even past then. Being late really irked Aly. "Hello Professor Craig." Aly said with a sweet smile. Craig smiled back and waved. Aly looked at all the tables and found a seat next to this pretty girl with long black hair. She had cat eye glasses and heavy makeup. "Hey, Jasmine right?" The girl across the table smirked. "It's Amy. You're not even close." Amy stood and left the table to join some other people across the room which left Aly at the table by herself. She awkwardly looked down at the empty chairs before returning to her bird drawing. She decided to just add some more little details to distract her from the awkwardness of her previous encounter.
xxxxxxx While Luke walked to his next class, he thought about what his friends said. Was he really that much of a coward? Back when he was invisible, he remembered wishing that someone would stand up for him, but no one ever did. Maybe it was because no one cared. He wasn't the type of person who ever spoke up, so very few people were actually aware of his existence. A total of four people had signed his year book when he graduated--two teachers, a friend, and his friend's cousin. Not exactly the highlight of his high school experience.
xxxxxxx Luke had Creative Writing next. He wasn't great at writing things like actual stories, but being as he was in a band, he did excel at writing song lyrics. He was also decent at poetry, but it wasn't something he bragged about. It wasn't that he was awful at narration and such, but he was quite mediocre. He was fine with his limited skills, though. Nobody is perfect, after all. Running a hand through his hair, he walked through the doorway of his class at 1:30 on the dot. Right on time. He mentally congratulated himself before scanning the room for a seat.
xxxxxxx Luke wasn't really interested in sitting next to someone in this class. He wanted to focus, not be distracted by his friends. Most of their conversations were shallow and trivial anyway. All his guy friends wanted to talk about were parties and all the girls wanted was so sleep with him. He wasn't interested in any of that. He was here for his education, after all. It irritated him that none of them seemed to care about their grades. "Hey, over here, Luke! a girl, Liza maybe, called. He pretended he didn't hear her and walked in the opposite direction. If he sat at an empty table, he worried that they would just come over and join him. So, after a quick assessment of his situation, the best option to him seemed to be sitting next to that girl--the one everyone said was weird.
xxxxxxx The Australian boy made his way over to her table and paused. "Hey, Aly. Do you mind if I sit here?" He smiled and tried to look as friendly as possible.

Aly's face was nearly touching her sketchbook as she frantically added leaves and branches to her piece of art. It was almost perfect, and when Luke came over she didn't even realize because she was so into her art. His voice made her jump, and a little squeal came out. She quickly covered her mouth and looked at Luke for a second with her big eyes. "I umm..." She quickly realized he wouldn't be able to understand a word she was saying with her hand over her mouth so she placed her hands down on the table. She never really realized how cute this Luke guy was, this was probably the closest he'd ever been to him and she could feel her face getting hot.
She quietly looked to her left, then her right, then back at Luke. Was this some kind of joke? Amy was probably behind this as some kind of revenge. It would be like Carrie 1976 all over again. That movie was basically the story of her life. "Yes-- I mean no. No? Right?" She awkwardly looked down at the table. She was so awkward and she hated it! She ran a nervous hand through her hair which only made it poof up a bit. "You can sit here." She finally said, not stuttering like before. Finally she got some words out, and she was able to breath. "I uh..." She looked over her shoulder towards Amy who wasn't even looking in this direction. What was going on?! "Why did you want to sit with me?" She asked slowly as she turned back to face Luke.
xxxxxxx Luke was surprised by how pretty Aly actually was up close. For some reason, he just always assumed she'd be average looking, uninteresting. He glanced at her picture and smiled. She was a good artist. That was really cool. He'd never been very good at drawing or anything to do with art, to be honest, but he could definitely appreciate all the people who were better than him. Better known as everyone.
xxxxxxx The Australian male raised an eyebrow at her as she glanced around. Had he done something to make her dislike him? Why did she seem so suspicious? He didn't think he'd done anything wrong. A smile spread across his defined features when she agreed to let him sit there. "Great, thanks." He slipped into the seat beside her with a sigh of relief. For a moment, he actually thought she was going to reject him. He hadn't been rejected in a long time. He supposed there was something about the whole dark clothing, nice accent, I'm-in-a-band thing he had going on that girls liked. He should have thought of it sooner.
xxxxxxx Luke tilted his head when she asked his motives. "Why wouldn't I wanna sit with you?" he asked, dumbfounded. She seemed like a nice enough girl, and she was interesting. Why not? His eyebrows furrowed together in confusion.

Aly was so relieved when Luke sat down and didn't mention anything about how awkward she just was. Most people would point out something. Aly kind of stared at him wordlessly for a few seconds before looking down at her sketchpad. She really didn't know where to put her eyes. She couldn't look at professor Craig because he hadn't started teaching yet, and that would just be weird. And it would be rude to just stare at Luke. When Luke asked his question Aly shyly looked up again. She smirked for a second then shrugged her shoulders and turned to an empty page in her sketchbook. "Oh I don't know..." She said quietly while picking up her pencil. She started nervously swirling it around on the page. "Because I'm me," She drew a circle on her page, ",and you're you." Aly drew another circle. "And in the real world, me's and you's don't sit with each other." This time she drew a big X through the circles she just drew. She didn't even mean to draw it all out for him, it was more of a visual thing for herself to get out the words she was trying to say. She was hoping he would understand her words. Usually people didn't. Her eyes found Luke's again which made her nervous.
xxxxxxx Luke glanced over at the professor to confirm that class had yet to start, and then turned his gaze to Aly as she began to speak. His crystal blue eyes followed the tip of her pencil as it traced out the circles. For some reason, he was a bit mesmerized as she spoke. He propped up his elbow on the table and rested his head in his head, his full attention on her. He had never been more intrigued by a person.
xxxxxxx Moistening his lips, the young adult caught her eyes. He supposed he understand what she was saying, but that didn't mean he liked it. "Tell me, why can't our circles be more of a Venn diagram?" he asked, looking away. "Why is it like that in the real world?" He looked to the other tables, to the teacher, to the doorway, to any place but her. A soft sigh escaped his lips as he turned to her again. "And why can't we escape it?"
xxxxxxx After a long moment, Luke looked down at his hands and chuckled. "I'm sorry, Aly. I'm just kind of crazy sometimes." He wasn't really sure what was getting into him. He hadn't acted this way in ages.

Luke's comment about venn diagrams made Aly raise her brows in surprise. Was this guy actually being...nice? She almost smiled, but quickly hid her face behind her oversized sleeve. She giggled to herself then shook her head in disbelief. She continued listening to him, more and more entertained, and intrigued as he spoke. I'm crazy too Luke. She thought, but she couldn't dare say that out loud. She didn't need people thinking she was crazy on top of how odd she already was. She was just about to open her mouth to say something but as she did Professor Craig started to speak.
"Hello class. Today we're editing and writing fiction." Craig went on explaining fiction. When he turned to scribble down notes on the white board Aly flipped to another page on her sketchbook. She doodled down a venn diagram, then smiled at the page. "I like venn diagrams." She whispered. It was more to herself, but it was loud enough for Luke to hear.
xxxxxxx Luke smirked at her reaction, and then turned his attention to Professor Craig as he began class. He flipped open his notebook and began to copy down the notes, paying close attention to everything he said. Although most of this seemed to be common sense, he wanted to have all of it down in case he needed it later. He wasn't great at memorizing, and writing things helped. His focus was skewed sitting beside Aly, but not quite as much as it would have been otherwise.
xxxxxxx When he heard her speak, he decided that he liked her. Not like so to say, but just "like" in the most innocent sense of the phrase. She was nice and pretty and intriguing and he liked it. She was different than the other girls. Weird. He liked weird. "Me too," he mumbled, staring up at the board and quickly copying everything as the professor wrote it.

Aly watched Luke take notes. She could finally look at him without him looking back. She noticed his lip piercing which was extremely attractive, and she also liked how wild his hair was. Just realizing how cute this boy was made her want to smile. She wasn't really taking notes, or even paying attention to Craig because she was already a professional writing major and knew nearly everything she needed to know. Eventually Craig explained that there was going to be a group writing project, and that everyone had to choose one partner.
Aly's stomach immediately dropped, and she gave Craig a worried look. He knew she hated group work because no one ever wanted to work with her. Not even the nerdy kids! Although Craig just winked in her direction then started explaining the project. Everyone was rushing to choose their partner, and Aly just nervously bit her lip and looked down at the table. Her eyes just barely peering up at Luke. I mean he did come sit with her, but that didn't mean he wanted to work with her on a project outside of class did it? Like maybe he didn't even like her and he was just trying to be nice because he got stuck at this table. She still thought this was some kind of elaborate joke. Come on, just say something Aly. She thought. She let out a deep breath then pulled her short blonde hair over to one side. She was hoping he would just ask because she'd already waited too long to say something, and now it was just awkward.
xxxxxxx Luke was listening intently to everything Professor Craig was saying, so as soon as he mentioned a group project, he began assessing his options. Liza, who sat on the other side of the classroom currently, would surely want to work with him. However, he had a feeling that if they ever met up, working would be the last thing on her mind. He had learned that the hard way when they worked on the last project together. She had told him to meet her at her apartment, and when he arrived, she promptly tried to get him in bed. He should have been tipped off when she answered the door in a t-shirt and tube socks, but he didn't want to offend her in any way so he had ignored it. His second sign should have been when she poured him a glass of wine, which he rejected seeing as that in America, the legal drinking age was 21 and over, and he was only 20. But finally, when she pushed his books out of his hands and tried to sit on his lap, he realized. This was not a friendly project meeting. Or, better yet, it was a little too friendly. He had promptly grabbed his things and stuttered out something along the lines of, "I'll ju-just do this my--... myself..!" And with a nervous chuckle he hurried out of her apartment.
xxxxxxx Another "friend" of his, Michael was also in this class. Unfortunately, so was his girlfriend. Luke knew there was no chance of him wanting to spend any time with him instead of her. There was plenty of other girls who he could possibly work with, but he was far too nervous after what had happened with Liza. And Sara. And Beth. Man, he really didn't have good experiences with group projects. He didn't understand why all these girls treated him like this, like he was just some toy to play with. Finally, his gaze flickered to Aly. She wouldn't come on to him. She wasn't like the other girls, and that could be a good thing. Plus, he knew she was really good at writing, whereas he was average at best. Maybe she could help him out.
xxxxxxxHe cleared his throat, tapping his pen on his notebook. "Hey, do you maybe wanna work together?" He didn't notice how uncomfortable she seemed or the long awkward silence between them. Or, maybe he did and he didn't mind. Either way, he looked at her hopefully, a hesitant smile playing across his lips.
