How can I start fishing?

Visit The Ole Fishing Hole and get yourself some bait and perhaps even upgrade your rod or buy a new one! (You may have some bait and a basic rod to start with already in your inventory.) Then visit the game tab, located in your header, and select fishing to go to the fishing landing page. If you're new to fishing, Bass'ken lake is the easiest place to fish! Just click on the picture and start fishing away.
What is the fishing landing page?

The fishing landing page is a home base for fishers. From it you will be able to choose a lake to fish in. You will also be able to view a snapshot of your lifetime fishing stats, see who is currently top ranked in each category, check out past trophy winners, as well as see the all-time top scores for each fishing category. It includes links to pages that will provide even more in-depth information about many of these things!
Why isn't fishing loading?

There are a few ongoing issues with fishing and its compatibility with browsers, so it might be your browser; Firefox and Chrome are the most stable browsers to fish with. Additionally, it should be noted that you must have Adobe flash version 11 or greater in order to launch fishing, so make sure you have that as well.
What type of rod and what kind of bait is best to use?

There really isn't a "best" rod to use, it all depends on your goal and what you are comfortable with. Each rod has its pros and cons. The best bait also depends on what you are trying to catch. Higher grade bait means better fish. Unless you are junking you probably want to use Grade A bait. Some people junking will use grade D bait, since grade F bait will kill your chances of getting a rare fish.
Okay maybe I should have said "I'm new to fishing, which rod should I get?"

Ideally, you want to have a rod with the widest lines that way you don't lose what you have hooked so easily. The rod with the widest lines is the Angelic rod or it's plus variant, but they are very expensive in the marketplace and must otherwise be earned. The cheapest rod with wide lines is the strength rod plus, which is more easily obtainable than the Angelic rods.
Why do some people have plus signs next to their rod?

This means the rod is a plus rod, or has been upgraded. Rod upgrades can be purchased by visiting The Ole Fishing Hole. You must have one of the standard rods to do so, so buy one if you don't have one yet! Then simply find the plus version of that rod and click on its picture, then click the upgrade button. Angelic Rods are upgraded on the Sunday after you catch 150,000 fish/junk to an Angelic Rod Plus!
OMG Why is fishing so hard?

It could be that you mistakenly picked either Durem or Gambino, which are for more advanced players. If you are new you want to go to Bass'ken Lake.
With that said, fishing is a lot like riding a bike, you may fall off the first few times, but with enough effort and practice you can be successful, which translates to...Just keep practicing and you will get the hang of it!
What do I do with the fish I catch?

You can do a few things with the fish you catch, such as selling them on the marketplace for gold. Fish are located under the game tab and rods are located under the special tab. You may also sell them by making a Game Item Exchange thread, or you can use them to make awesome things from the fishing exchange (see below).
What is the fishing exchange and how do I get to it?

The fishing exchange is where you go to exchange all the fish and junk you have caught (or bought) with Old Man Logan for some cool items! You can get to it a few ways, one way is to visit The Ole Fishing Hole and then choosing the option of "exchange fish", another way is by loading the fishing landing page and then clicking on exchange fish (above the hall of fame and to the right of the top fishers of the current month).

What is a "rare fish" and how do I catch one?

Rare fish are exactly what they sound like, rare. They are often very sought after as being the most valuable fish, and the reason why they are so valuable is of course because of that rarity. In a given month, it is lucky to see maybe 1 or 2 be reported.
As for catching one...it's really a toss up more or less since it is dependent on your fishing skill, as well as how lucky you are. However, it be noted that skill isn't necessarily a requirement as the majority of rares are caught by every-day casual players.

What is that "golden rod with wings" that I see some people use, and how do I get it?

That "golden rod with wings" is called the angelic rod or the angelic rod plus, it is the god of all rods and is easily the most useful rod to have. It is obtained by catching 75,000 fish OR junk, and the plus is obtained by catching another 75,000 fish or junk (for a total of 150,000 fish). After the proper requirements are met, you will receive the rod in a PM from Logan the following Monday morning.
