Brilliant almost flame like wings flapped gracefully in a lazy manner. The sun was high overhead glistening off the sock of rich red mane that was gently braided. Bright red eyes laid half lidded as their owner practically sun bathed while keeping herself gliding through the warm summer sky. It had seemed like ages since the last time the female had a chance to simply relax in flight. Typically she would be too preoccupied with zipping around whilst letting the thrilling rush of adrenaline rule her course. On this day however, the high heat and absentee clouds just screamed for anyone to be lackadaisical with lazy sun naps. Being the wind Soq she was, the fiery mare could not stay earthbound for longer than necessary. Which probably explains why Rae was currently napping in as much as she was flying.

A content little mewl of a sigh passed from her nose. Slowly she shifted so that she might manage to turn herself completely upside down. Once down she could only hold the pose for a moment, but the moment was just long enough to warm her belly with the sun. Just as slowly as she first shifted, she moved to right herself again. Having returned to proper flying position she stretched her legs. Perhaps a short stop for water and a quick prancing would not hurt. Her red eyes examined the ground below her looking for a lake or river to stop at. It took a moment but finally she found one. Another little sigh escaped her, only not as content. She did so hate to leave the sky.

Rae began her descent by taking her time in a swooping circular motion. It was very similar to how birds of prey would circle down and onto their food. Her steps were gentle as her hooves made contact with the sun warmed earth. The day was too perfect for her to ruin it by stomping around heavily. She stretched her wings out far before carefully curling them unto herself as she made her way closer to the water. Her wings only just settled against her as her nose tapped against the water's surface. It too was slightly warmed from the beautiful summer sun. So she dipped in a little deeper to reach the cooler water that flowed easily in the river's current. She drank heavily from that cool water quenching the thirst she had not felt until that moment. Once finished, she slowly lifted her head and shook it from side to side.

"Ah~" she breathed out feeling very hydrated. The fiery mare really needed to learn to take breaks more frequently. As a last minute decision she decided that a light swim would be nice as well. She glanced up river to see if there was a deeper body of water that may accommodate her frame for a swim.

User ImageEmmett Alexander sighed as he looked up through the trees. The clear sky had chased him to the ground, unwilling to share the atmosphere with others. The hippogryph highly preferred stormy skies, where flight was a challenge and other fliers were sparse. On days like this, however, they were everywhere. It seemed practically impossible to go more than a few moments without spotting another Soquili in the distance, doing tricks and having fun in the air currents. He rolled his eyes at the thought. How annoying. It was as if they were just too lazy to try to challenge themselves. On stormy days, the air was thick, the wind was fast, the clouds were low, and the electricity flew. That is what Em liked. It was scary, butt he adrenaline was simply incredible.

He sighed as he thought of the rain drenching his mane and his massive wings. For now, though, the river would have to be an acceptable substitute for his current fantasy. It wasn't a horrible option, he thought. It was still wet, and it was cool compared to the warm summer air. He was up to his stomach in the current, which wasn't overly strong as to drag him downstream, but it was enough to keep him occupied. His claws grasped onto rocks as he stepped through the water, ensuring his footing was strong enough to support him through the rushing water. He sighed, spreading his wings and resting them on the moving surface. It nearly felt as if the water was air beneath his wings, but he knew better. Still, he tried to close his eyes and imagine for a moment that the sun wasn't out and that the fair weather fliers hadn't taken over the sky he so loved.

His pale eyes fluttered open and he sighed. What would the harm be in going for a flight, really? Sharing the sky wasn't nearly as bad as boycotting it, was it? Surely he was just being ridiculous. It's not as if he had to make small talk as he passed somebody, or like there were any time to do so even if he wanted. And he could easily outmaneuver anyone who tried to follow him, he was sure. But was it really worth it to have to be constantly watching for obstacles? It seemed like it was a nice idea for a moment, but the remembrance of the lack of adrenaline and excitement made the cons weigh more heavily than they had when he began thinking about it. Oh bother. It just seemed as if he would be desperately tracking storms all summer, waiting for the bitter autumn and winter months to be able to have the sky free and clear again. Emmett almost pouted at the thought, but instead glanced around with his pale eyes. He felt as if he was being watched.
