It felt like Suri had no time to breathe.

Life had been simpler when her apartment had only housed two. Maverick was simple enough to feed, and Suri herself had taken to relying on only the essentials. But she was responsible for another human being now, a charge and a pupil that relied on her assistance for survival, and Suri did not take that responsibility lightly. School was out for summer, yes, but there was planning for the new year, as well as nightly patrols, as well as catching Bolton up on the many things she would need to stay alive, as well as travelling to the Rift when time allowed. She needed to train more, she needed to bend a youma to her will, she needed to prove herself to her superiors so that one day she might call herself general.

She probably needed to revise her curriculum as well, but priorities came first.

Lost in her thoughts, the woman struggled to empty her car of its grocery bags, then began the long trek towards her apartment in the heat of the midsummer afternoon. As Zircon, the weight would have been nothing, but it was too much of a risk to tap into Chaos for mundane chores, and so Suri wobbled down the sidewalk, beleaguered by the weight of her produce. She could have made two trips, but then again, making two trips was for quitters.

With bags obscuring her tired eyes, Suri had no clue about the change in the curb until she ran into it with her ballet flats. Her hands already encumbered, the blonde had no choice but to stumble, falling to the ground at an alarming pace.

Save me, o knight!

It wasn't that Glitnir had really been watching the woman. He just happened to be around. Really. He sometimes made a few laps around apartment buildings while on patrol in case some Negaverse agent was looking to try and drain a few people on their way in or out. In this case, while there were no agents or youma about, there was still a way to help a civilian. He saw the woman's misstep coming, and he quickly scrambled to stop the inevitable fall. With a cartoony-looking timeliness, he slid under Suri to cushion her fall. Hopefully her groceries wouldn't go everywhere. If they did, most things would probably be recoverable, produce aside. And eggs aside. He knew from Megrez how fragile eggs could be (and yet how surprisingly sturdy, too).

Suri felt a rush of breeze and arms beneath her, and suddenly her descent was slowed, cushioned by the warmth of a body. A bag of carrots tumbled to the street below, but the rest of her groceries seemed largely unharmed, even as she recoiled backwards to get onto her feet.

"AAaah! Who--you--" Suri had to turn her bags so she could look down at the crumpled mess of squire below her, and when she recognized the Mars sigil she nearly jumped before remembering that she was incognito, her secret was safe.

"You--you caught me," she murmured in quiet awe, staring bewildered under her tired eyes. How could this Knight risk injury to himself on her behalf, over something so small as...groceries. Couldn't he, at least on some instinctual level, understand that she wasn't worth catching? It was just groceries.

"Why?"

The impact was uncomfortable, as Glitnir expected, but not too terrible. He wasn't surprised that the woman was shocked to see a man in a toga and armor beneath her, but she did recover very quickly. If anything, she seemed more concerned that anyone would catch her than about the identity of the person who did. When Suri got up, Glitnir got up as well. "Why? Well..." Glitnir smoothed some dust off his pants. Why indeed? "Why not? I could see you tripping from a mile away. Figured I might as well stop and help you out." Upon closer inspection, he thought he could see little things that struck him as off about her: a certain slowness, maybe? "Are you feeling okay, ma'am?"

Was she...okay?

Suri's mouth pursed as she frowned, reaching down to grab some of her discarded goods. This knight's intent, no matter how puppy-eyed, could not be trusted. "I'm fine, thank you," she responded curtly, nevertheless nearly stumbling as one hand went out for the misshapen bag of carrots. She paused, taking in the irony with a frustrated huff, and then slowly wobbled to her feet, determined to make it home if it killed her.

"Now, umm..." Suri paused, trying to collect the proper words from the whirlwind of 'WHITE MOON GET AWAY' ringing in her head. "...I'll be leaving, then. Thank you." With a stiff nod, she began her triumphant walk towards her apartment building, only to stumble a few moments later, almost having the same spill before she caught herself. She knew the knight would still be there, watching, but her gaze curled downwards, refusing to meet his eyes. She was fine, no matter what he thought.

"You're welcome," Glitnir said, glad to be of some help, even if it just meant being a human landing pad. He watched her go off, and then saw her stumble again. Two stumbles couldn't be coincidence; something wasn't right with the woman. He took a few steps closer to her. "Are you sure you're fine? You nearly fell over again. Are you sick?" Coming just a bit closer, he paused. "When you make it home, you should really get some rest. Whatever you've been doing is clearly wearing you out. Call in sick to work and take a mental health day, maybe? Just... take care of yourself." It was really worrying to see a woman that out of sorts. Could she even make it to her apartment? "You're not up too many flights of stairs, are you? Heck, I can carry your groceries for you if you promise to try and defuse any people with questions." Actually, why hadn't this woman expressed shock over being saved by a man in a toga? Maybe she was just that tired, or perhaps that used to Destiny City's assorted weirdness. Destiny City was a special creature of a city, that much was for certain.
