 Tough felt restless, more so than he had in many days. It was such a nice summer day, and while studying had been fun during the morning, it was now starting to drag. Most of his siblings were too busy to be bothered, and Da was tutoring someone else. Ma was currently in the bakery.
Well, the unicorn decided that it was a waste to just spend all day indoors. Gathering a little sack, he put in a pen and a book, using his magic to tie it around his neck like a knapsack.
Outdoors the heat shone down and Tough immediately ditched any plans of being in town or in the forests. The cool sounds of the beach drug the curious colt closer. Maybe the heat was to blame, but the usual tourist trap wasn't too busy. Even the cool waves didn't stem the heat. They were probably in town eating or enjoying the shops. Tough wondered if he ought to go help out his mother, but decided that he would rather be outside.
Taking off the satchel with his magic, he set the pen against his ear and in his hair, and then took to walking down the beach with the notebook in his hand. The waves felt good against his hooves and legs. His eyes scanned the horizon and the ground, seeking tide pools so he could make observations.Fea Line I hope this is okay!! I couldn't remember if she was near the sea or near the lagoon DX If I messed that up lemme know <3

 "Waahooo!!" a little merfilly shouted to herself as she slid along in the waters, having just been thrust forward by a rather decent wave. Riding them always came natural to her though it should be no surprise. She had been born for this kind of thing, not land walking. Still! Each time was a different experience. Something new learned or some new sensation gained. She wasn't perfect at it, not like some of the older Mer's she had seen but it was still totally fun!
With all those thoughts in mind, Tsunami braced herself for the next wave, lining herself up so that it would shoot her towards the shore. Her eyes narrowed in excitement as she could feel the waves begin to draw her backwards a tiny bit before shooting her off forward from the force. Another playful screech escaped her lips as she almost seemed to fly through the waves..... and right towards the sandy shore! Breaks, breaks breaks, where were the breaks?!!!!
"AAahhowowowowowoww." the beached filly groaned, tumbling to a stop in the sand, face first, tail in air. Yeah. She still needed work on sticking the landings. Magician Arcana Its perfect! Thats exactly where she'd be x3

Tough knelt by the tide pool, carefully writing down his observations. But even this was starting to become unbearably boring. Huffing, he stood and was about to look for something more fun....
When fun came crasing in on him. His ears twitched when Tsunami's yell finally caught his attention over the thundering of the waves. Confused, the colt stumbled with a whiny of panic. Whothewhatthehow -- MERPHONY? With eyes the size of dinnerplates he watched as she crashed onto the sand, her tail in the air like a flag of defeat.
How... how could someone be so stupid? Tough felt an itch of laughter crawl up his throat, but fended it off. Clearing his throat, he trotted closer, "You're not much of a lander, huh? Want a hand, finny?"

Tsu had kept her eyes shut as she replayed what had happened over and over in her head. Maybe she should have turned herself more....or..no...maybe....wait...what?
Lifting her head and blinking open her eyes, the merfilly took in the sight of a colt standing over her, his mane almost blending into his body save for the grey streaks in them. "Oh how embarrassing!" she gasped, tilting her head at his comment. "You....you mean I didn't nail the landing?!" she said in a playful pouty tone, trying her best to act shocked and hurt but she couldn't stop a silly grin from spreading across her muzzle.
"That depends, you offering Hoofy?" she said cheekily, pulling her hooves beneath her to start propping herself upright when a bunch of sand trickled from her mane down into her face. "Ppffpptptpfpbtfffptb."

Inspite of himself, Tough felt a laugh rise and bubble out of his mouth. Clearing his throat, he turned his head quickly. No! He couldn't just start... L-laughing at... A merphony... getting... S-sand... SNCK... In... Her... SNCK. Mouth.
Tough cleared his throat again, barely containing the urge to bust out again, "Y-yes I'm... I'm offering a hoof. Er... Maybe you can... Get some water to clear your mouth?"

Tsu's tongue went this way and that trying to thrust the sand from her mouth. She looked much like a dog who just had peanut butter lodged in the rough of their mouth. Though once she had managed to spit most of it out, she glanced at the boy and grinned from embarrassment. "That might...be good...yeah. Sand doesn't taste as good as I thought." she said and stuck her tongue out again, though she noticed he seemed to be... holding something back. And his lips kept curling into a grin but he fought it off.

Okay, that did it. Watching her try to lick the sand out of her mouth and sputter was the icing on the cake. Tough broke into a fit of giggles, flushing brightly as he did. "S-sorry! I... I don't mean to laugh but your expression is so funny and spitting out sand." Tears came to his eyes and he swiped them away with the hoof he had been holding out to help up Tsunami.
"A-ahha... I'm glad you're okay," It did feel good to laugh, but he felt bad for laughing at her. He cleared his throat and held his hoof to her again.

The little mer filly blinked in surprise at the colt's sudden outburst of laughter and then his offered hoof...which he seemed to retract then offer again. Tilting her head in confusion at him, Tsu did the only thing she could think of. She took his hoof...and then busted out laughing herself! "I do look pretty silly huh!" she giggled, seeing him tear up in laughter only seemed to make her grin more. If she couldn't laugh at her own silliness then she sure didn't deserve to be mad at him! "Don't be sorry, I'd probably laugh at myself too!"
Nodding firmly, she pushed her sandy bangs from her face again. "Thanks for that! Oh.. I'm Tsunami Waves by the way." she laughed again. Now he had a name to pair to the funny finny.

At least she wasn't mad, Tough thought, giving the good natured mer a smile. When she was finally up, he realized... He had never met a mer before. Could she get back to the water? Or was she going to need help?
"Tsunami Waves?" He repeated the name and then nodded, "I'm Tough Talker. It's nice to meet you, Tsunami. Do you have a nickname or something you go by? Most people just call me Tough." It seemed that she wasn't hurt either, which was great.
Fea Line I'M SO MAD I swore I responded :'D I had like half a post written too!! GAH. Oh well, it took no time to rewrite. lol

Tough talker? Well that name didn't seem to fit him, at least not from what she had been seeing so far. This colt was pretty funny if Tsu said so! "Tough huh? Sure you aren't named Hoofy?" she laughed, though of course she was teasing. He was making her laugh so much right now. Of course, they were laughing at her silliness but hey, a good laugh never hurt anyone! "In any case, its nice to meet ya. You can call me Tsu." she smiled. Magician Arcana I hate when that happens! XD

"Heh, I'm starting to wonder... I keep sticking my hoofy in my mouth," Oh, that was a good one. Tough giggled, feeling... Feeling something. Not bored or annoyed or lonely wistful. Happy? Giddy? Maybe a combo thereof. It wasn't unpleasant, that was for sure, "Tsu? That's a cool nickname.
"You're a merphony... I've never met one before. So you live in the lake, right? Is it fun?"

Tsu's cheeks puffed up in attempt to hold back a laugh but it failed. Oh man she liked this colt he just kept making her laugh! "Aww thanks Tough!" she smiled at his compliment.
"That I am! Though I seem to prefer tanking it in the sand than the lake." she joked, but decided to give him a more serious answer. It was the least she could do for him amusing her so much! "But yes, it is! Though I loooooooooooooooooove spending time at the beach. Sometimes I just never leave!" she smiled wistfully.

Never leaved? That seemed... Well dangerous wasn't really a good way to put it. After all, danger wasn't really a thing around phonyland. "Don't your parents worry about you?" He reasoned his own would be terrified if he just went somewhere and then never came home.

Tsu shook her head, a silly grin still plastered to her face. "I don't have any. As far as I can remember its just been me! So nope, no one to cause worry!" she nodded. He probably had parents though, or at lest she figured that's why he had asked. It was kinda cute of him! She usually didn't stop to think of such things.

"Oh..." Dark magenta spread over the phony's cheeks. Of course, not all phony's had direct parents. "Sorry... Uhm." Crap, now it was awkward. Still, he was appreciative that she had answered so honestly. Tsunami seemed like a good friend.
"I should be getting back home soon, but I... uh..." He couldn't help but glow brighter, his interest suddenly being the sand below his hooves, "Ma-aybe we can hang out again sometime?"
